DORITOS Presents: SONY vs. MICROSOFT 2014 THE HYPERBOWLLLLL

Well US maybe ... But no need for a plan in europe. Ps4 has momentum and costs 360-370. there are already discounts in various stores. Battle is over here. Until next gen, bye^^

Well PSN is getting more broken by the week, it seems.

So I would just like it if Sony really fixed PSN.
(party chats being dropped, messages not being received, save games not uploading automatically to the cloud, console not booting after standby, intermittent outages every week).

Uh, yeah. PSN is a mess on my end, but PSN != PS4.

It worked well for Destiny, Watch Dogs, Madden, etc. I'm not saying it's indisputable proof that the XB1 version will sell more, but it has been an accurate forecaster for every big game release this year.

There is no reason for you to think that Advanced Warfare will sell more on PS4 based on what evidence we have. Ghosts ended up selling more on XB1 than it did on PS4 in the long run and there was less than 1% difference in the first month.

This occurred even though it released earlier on last gen with 77% of the userbase already buying it on 360 according to Aqua/Cream.

Advanced Warfare has been trending even more in the XB1's favor and there is a bundle that has been doing very well to boot. Even the Shogun thinks your prediction is shaky at best.

Quite frankly, I have no idea why you would be so confident in that assertion. CoD is just a more popular brand on Xbox it's not going to reflect regular sales trends just as MGS won't, for example.

It worked for those games because PS4 always will win.

It's all about the userbase.

I don't think Sony cares that much about losing a single month in the scope of things. I wouldn't be surprised to see some bundles though, and some black friday stuff.

And that's if they even lose it.

If Sony doesn't have a similar deal and MS outsells them 3:1 in November and December, Sony can kiss their ~1 million (sales) lead goodbye.

As it currently looks like, MS will easily win Nov. and Dec.

You really think that Microsoft will outsell Sony 3 to 1 with bundles? LMAO...

They will not get 3 million owners worldwide this November & December like their launch months.

Idk Xbone sales right now are insane. Its really way too early to tell whose winning until Black Friday.

Lol I'm vetted by bish. I work in the retail of the gaming industry.

Xbone sales right now are excellent.

I'm not saying Xbone wins November. Im saying its currently doing great and November is anyones game. PS4 may very well win.

I agree with this month is anyone guess, but you went from insane to just great in 3 posts. You meant any of those in comparison with the PS4 or in comparison with other months?

On Amazon's hourly chart (I know, I know) three Xbox One bundles are above the PS4.
5 bundles in the top 20. Only 1 PS4.

Welp, Xbox One is killing it at the moment.

I don't expect Xbox to win every month this Fall, however they would deserve it if they did and maybe the 3:1 estimate may not be all that off. Ever since Phil Spencer took over the Xbox has been lean and hungry with something to prove while Sony has rested on its laurels. Exclusive games and time exclusive DLC (CoD juggernaut), fresh firmware updates every few days and of course the aggressive bundles and temporary price drop (which I have no doubt will only last this Holiday season), Xbox has it all.

I guess he means insane compared to September.
Sales are great in general compared to other consoles, but that is what I gathered from the posts.

Well Amazon Sales sure indicate a big boost for X1 over PS4 right now...

Best sellers:
#6 X1 SSO Bundle
#9 X1 AC Bundle
#10 X1 Cod Bundle
#17 PS4
#31 X1 AC+Kinect Bundle
#32 X1 (kinectless)
#50 PS4 Destiny Bundle

http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames

I know these are just hourly charts, but the X1 AC & Cod Bundles have been ahead of the PS4 consistently for over a week, and now that the SSO Bundle is available again, it has been doing extremely well.

If Sony doesn't do something, they will lose next NPD by a substantial amount
...not that they care as they already have a huge lead...

It's all about the userbase.

No it isn't. Xbox 360 vastly outsold PS3 in NA yet Metal Gear and Final Fantasy sold much more on PS3. The current PS4 lead in NA is minuscule in comparison.

All I'm saying is that you shouldn't be so quick to discount the monthly charts. They were very accurate for all the big releases this year. If the PS4 version was so strong that it was going to outsell the XB1 version even with the bundle, then surely there would have to be a time when it actually was ahead.

Some people lurk for years though.

I know I did. I'm a lazy fucker and most times what I would add to a topic has already been added so I just sit back and get more entertainment from reading some of the stuff that comes out of people's mouths (fingers?) on here.

On topic: I have a gut feeling that Sony might still take at least November, maybe both months, especially if there are any Black Friday promotions. The network effect is real. Yeah parents would prefer to spend $350 and get a game as well but if Little Johnny sees that all his friends are now getting COD on PS4 then he will also want to get a PS4 to join them.

Early DLC for COD was just an extra kick in the pants MS used to their benefit since they were already the default console for that game due to most of your friends getting the game for the 360. The same thing is happening with PS4. It's greater on a worldwide basis but it is starting to if it hasn't already happened in the US.

I could be wrong and the remastered Halos coupled with the COD bundles and $350 price tag when the console was $500 last holiday could push MS ahead. But my instinct just tells me that Halo already sold the majority of it's consoles similar to how Titanfall didn't move the needle in its release month and the PS4 is now the default console for the COD crowd.

Of course , you have to pay 399 for a PS4 without any games and 349 for an Xbox One with one game ( AC or Sunset). This is a massive price cut and there is of course a huge boost in sales. Anyway i don't think that Sony will do something special with the price. Maybe a GTA V bundle...

We have no sales figures to compare. Only Amazon chart positions and considering we're only on November 2, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Price cuts were made official today. Of course those bundles are high on the list. Let's see where they stand in a week or two.

There quite simply won't be enough Xbone in the chain to sell 3:1 to the PS4. Or even 2:1.

I'm shocked that the Sunset bundle has passed the Advanced Warfare and AC bundles even if it's the hourly. I think today was the first time I've even seen it chart.

Maybe it's because people know it's limited? It's so weird that a console that has been available to pre-order for months and seemingly no one wanted suddenly shoots up so highly for no real reason.

3:1? LOL!
Whered you get that from? Insiderp?

Wow. GAF taking this stuff extra serious today apparently. Time to abandon thread. I've been consistent about this from the beginning. I'm making no prediction on who wins November as I've said countless times its WAY too early.

Xbox sales are the best I've seen all year. Thats all I have to say as this thread is becoming pretty damn hostile.

Sony makes their money from games not consoles. So every console sale lost represents lost future revenue. Loosing November might not look like much but the point is to not to let your competition gain momentum. The News outlets would go crazy with the story of how the XB1 was gaining ground and was the best selling console this holiday season. Currently you can get an XB1 with 2 games for $349 or a PS4 with no games for $399. For the consumer who doesn't know or care about the hardware differences the XB1 appears as the better value. I expect Sony to offer new bundles within the next couple weeks

Yeah, wouldn't shock me if Xbone is selling out. They have amazing deals. If you are on the fence about Xbone vs. PS4, the price/bundles are pretty much a non-brainer.

So I'm not sure what is Sony's thought process is right now.

1. They feel very confident that momentum will see them win through the holidays so they don't need anything.

2. They know they will lose Nov/Dec, but they are fine with that because they'll still do a shit ton of sales but not have to spend extra money to "win".

3. They don't have the resources right now to actually do anything on the scale that MS is doing.

I'm thinking #2. They saw MS just go absolutely balls to the fucking wall and take a massive hit to their profits, and decided that competing with that was a fools errand. Best to just let them have the 2 months, and just hit them back in 2015.

Kinda strange that Sony doesn't even try though. I mean, they have these games they could easily offer...

1. Killzone
2. Knack
3. Infamous
4. MLB
5. The last of us

You could EASILY make a bundle with those games at $399, and I highly doubt they are still selling that much anymore.

I guess Sony has other plans?

So let's say PS4 sells 2 million this November, you think Xbox One has a chance to sell 6 million? Really? That's ridiculous. I want to know where you people are getting this 3 to 1 ratio from.

Today is the first day of the sale so the SKUs shoot up to the top because the algorithm reacts to sales increases over a short period of time. Give it the week to stabilize before gauging for sure what's going on. If Xbox is on top this time next week I'd say for sure they took Nov. Spikes are the part of Amazon best sellers that always trips people up.

Where are you getting your data from?
Anyway the holidays are upon us, of course sakes are improving. Even for Wii U.

No real reason?

Are you serious?

Sunset Overdrive is roundly regarded by pretty much anyone who played it for more than an hour as their GOTY by a country mile.

Games do actually matter and they actually sell systems.

They sold me an Xbox One. (It was Sunset Overdrive.)

;D

He works on retail.

Where's Wynnebeck? We need someone to even out the overly positive picture Shogun is painting about the X1 at retail.

No problem with that.
But people should stop overhyping SO.
It's a nice game. Even 82% on Metacritic.
But it surely isn't " 'da game 2014 "It's good!
Nothing more.

(Off-Topic / Back on topic)

I see sony doing some bundles for December, but not a day before. (a Guilty Gear bundle would be cool, more players means I'm less likely to find a vet online)

we keep forgetting sony has a lot of momentum and a lot of people went from 360 to PS4 meaning people still might have friends playing catch up.

To me these deals are good for people who are:
1. On the fence and have no preference
2. Was planning on getting one from the beginning and waiting for price cuts
3. Getting both and this is a great opportunity to pick up an xbox before the holiday season ends with the deal (unless MS decides to continue the deal after the new year)
