Yeah you did a lot better that game than the past few I played with you. There were still a few moments when you ran away when you shouldn't have, but you were there more often than not. It turned out much better than I thought it would with all that doom and gloom I was spouting. U:

I am pretty sure we would've won if Doom hadn't ragequit (I don't even know if he raged, since we weren't THAT far ahead), but him leaving, followed by everyone else, soured the "victory". ):

Yeah, when I was facing Lich and Enigma, you should not have backed off. Both were low and blew most of their spells already (Enigma use both his Stun and his Ult on me), I managed to kill Enigma and get Lich down to about 100 HP with Nether Blast, but in the end Lich was able to just auto attack me to death. If you stuck around, both of them likely would of died, and I could of lived.

Really glad I sold my TP Scroll to pick up a point booster just before going in, that extra bit of HP allow me to live long enough to kill off Enigma.

Edit:

Decrepify - With Maelstrom, Mjollnir or Desolator, Pugna is able to attack and damage ethereal units.

Is this useful at all?

good times broskis. startin off 2012 with the magina.

If SC2 can do it, Dota 2 can do it.

I can't believe there are people downplaying the importance of tutorials for this game. There's nothing more important for the genre than easing the new players into it, and tutorials are only going to help.

I just don't know if more tutorials are always the answer to make players better. Modern game design is plagued by constant hand-holding and tutorials. I just hope if Valve does implement tutorials, they do it in a non-intrusive and effective way.

Those items arent really standard on Pugna. Plus your nether blast and life drain already do extra damage to ethereal units. I guess it might be worth considering if the enemy team goes mass ghost scepter for some reason.

Well there's already a placeholder under the "Play" tab for "Tutorials" so I highly doubt it would be intrusive for experienced players.

At all.

It would probably be like the platform/break the targets mini games in Smash but actually useful.

I wouldn't mind having a mode dedicated to denying/last hitting practice.

A team practice mode where you can practice last hitting with your friends, or against them!

A MAN UP mode where sidelanes do not spawn creeps for dueling (and mid wars if you're mrmr).

It's not about "making players better", it's about helping them understand the fuckin' game, yo!

Also I don't know why the hell you brought up "modern game design" as if it's at all relevant to Dota 2, a game stuck in the tar pit of ancient history.

As for non-intrusive... they're going to be completely optional? So... duh?

Also finally also, it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when". There are going to be tutorials. Fact. Why you're so against them is completely beyond me. Do you want Dota 2 to be all about the hardcore elitists who refuse to allow anyone into their genre that hasn't suffered fifty matches before understanding the basics (all the while being told to uninstall because they don't know what they're doing)? It is utterly baffling, this disdain you hold for tutorials, as if they're something bad that shouldn't exist in Video Games.

sorry if this sounds grumpy, i just marathoned the second half of saints row the third and now i'm depressed i finished the most video gamey video game of all time and have no more of it to look forward to (and also it's 5:30am so i guess i'm going to bed)

That last All Random in house game we played last night was painful. Opposing team got Nightstalker, Furion, Venomancer, Drow and Earthshaker(I think was the fifth?) painful.

The first all random game I got Jakiro, one of my most hated heroes.
The second all random game our team got three melee carries against Axe, Potm, AA, Clockwerk, and something else (although we somehow won anyway).

I hate all random.

Complain about no beta access for months, and you don't play because you get the occasional game that you need to play out* :lol There hasn't been any major bugs for months, even before invites started to go out.

Only reason I asked about it is because the one game I played I got stuck with a team that went 11 - 51. I was 4 of those kills. We faced down a Pudge that just stood outside of our fountain, hooked us, and farmed us. This was in a game where all the healthbars were missing at the start of the game, forcing me to reboot the game.

As you can imagine, this soured my hype for the game.

*P.S. In LoL I'm unusually stubborn about surrendering, but it's nice to know that the option is there for stupid situations.

At any rate, if bugs like the one I encountered are rare I'll try it again. Can we auto-join chat channels yet?

:lol you get stomped one game and it causes you to stop playing, and yes you can auto-join channels now.

I don't think that was an All Random, most of the team didn't play in the previous inhouses and I don't remember anyone telling them to random.

and lesh. Half of them were squishy though

DOTA2-GAF needs to abuse the calendar event popup like TF2-GAF does.

Most of Dota 2-GAF hates each other for whatever reason.

Most of TF2-GAF plays on the same server with each other.

It'd never work out.

Yes, that's exactly what I want out of my gaming community. Frequent, incessant pop-ups.

At least with TF2, it's generally one a night, which is hardly incessant, or even frequent, whenever someone decides to fill up the server. But that sort of thing would never work with Dota 2, because it's 10 people per match at most. Maybe 14 if four people wanna sit in a broadcaster slot.

i only hate swag.

and if you hate milkman, something's wrong with you.. how can you NOT love the guy?

This time on, "Things Drkirby wonders about while bored at work", we will be answering two questions.

Question 1: Blood Stone says for each charge, you will lose 30 less gold. Does this get subtracted from the amount of unreliable gold you would lose, or turn your unreliable gold temporally into reliable upon death?

Answer: After leveling up my character to 25, with 175 gold and a bloodstone in hand, I stood in front of a tower for 60 seconds. I died, and lost all gold. So bloodstone will subtract from the amount of unreliable gold you would lose.

Question 2: Can Pugna's Netherward cause enemies to lose Mana?

Answer: Yes, yes it does. Use this trick to be an asshole to enemy strength heroes. Team up with Antimage and the enemy will be at zero mana in *no time.

*Achieving effect in no time may require Weaver and/or Faceless void. Results may vary, no money back.

No bugs? Sometimes I get incurrable sound and FPS stuttering for no reason at all.

Sounds like a throwdown.

Glad to know I am not the only one. It always happen randomly, but it lasts 2/4 seconds, enough in a battle to die.. When it happens three or four times in a game, this is quite annoying.

Apparently, if you opt for the beta client of steam, it solves some problems according the forums, but not in my case..

Average day for Phandy,
Just out carrying Na'Vi players. The usual stuff in the day in the life of me.
Thinking of going pro soon. Anyone needs some tips on carrying with random AM?

Seriously though, I think its amusing that people seem to be using the names of pro's, because half the time, they suck so bad and its just a joke.
This guy was good but I seriously doubt he was Na'Vi. If he was, it was an 'off' day.

Though the random button definitely hates me: 3/5 of the last IH games gave me these heroes: Morphling (plain useless, even though I was starting to get more farm), Lifestealer (oh god. my farm was great (fast vanguard let me jungle and lane forever), had a daedelus and armlet, but I was useless in team fights [nerves] and we basically lost because of that), and Spectre (bad early game (but didn't die at all), goofed buying a 2nd ring of health, but I was able to do a lot of jungling, contributed a tiny bit to fights with haunt vision and haunt diffusal manaburn). Had the game dragged on, I would have been able to contribute in bigger ways.

At least I'm learning a ton about carry play.
