Dota 2 Beta Thread: [Brewmaster]

Husker is super old though, he's just gotten some (much needed) buffs so that he can actually kill people. Before, as you should know since you've played Dota in its infancy, his ultimate didn't even have a charge on it. You had to walk up to people to even use it, so he was completely obliterated before he got his blink dagger. Now he's actually playable. The heroes you're going to see get in last are no doubt the newest heroes and hero remakes -- Treant, Tuskar, Phoenix, Rubick, Pit Lord, Wisp, Disruptor, and a few others.

Not to mention Huskar isnt imba. Some of the best heroes are not only already in but are ones that have been around a long time.

Hey guys, expect some serious balance updates by the end of the year. IceFrog just confirmed a new version of Dota (6.73) before January 1st. I expect that Valve will proceed with updating Dota2 with the same balance changes that Dota makes.

Huskar strikes me as a good pubstomp hero in that is very strong on his own but with little-to-no teamfight presence. Good for getting out of hand on a pub where nobody works together, but easily dealt with by teamwork.

Probably confusing your k-pop avatar with some other hongaf k-pop avatar.

Confusing it for the LoL thread no doubt

Yeah most of them are pretty good, especially the ones that have different surroundings, like Tidehunter being underwater

Except for the overdone idle animation I like most of them. Most of them look like they were playing with a pogo stick while their portraits were taken.

Well he wears a loin cloth so I assume there's something under there that needs covering up.

Which brings of the question of whether or not there's a Mrs. Faceless Void out there.

What? The interface is probably the best part of Dota 2.

You know, I just realized, the League of Legends Picture in the OP is actually from its Beta. Look at the creeps.

I mean like the whole package of the interface. The main menu overlay, being able to easily spectate games while waiting in queue, stats + viewing options for watching replays or spectating, region choice, friend system, and all of that stuff is really great. The in game stuff is fine, the store is good, and once there's an option to resize the UI and disable the dumb borders that take up half the screen I don't really get what the complaints would be.

Beyond being able to turn off mini-map click to move of course.

Compared to Baldur's Gate, maybe.

oh no you didnt

the features are there, its the design and the awkwardness that make it bad
the friend system is just steam, and theres no way to skim through a replay without watching at max speed
the textures on the interface itself look like someone used a bad photoshop tutorial for "generic grey stone texture"

either way, calling the interface the best part of dota2 is crazy talk!

The interface is better the LoL's IMO, but that isn't saying very much. Though Riot has been doing some decent improvements over the past few months.

I dunno
I dont have to run in borderless window mode to prevent LoL from crashing :P
they need to implement hero swapping and repicking already, the current system is bad as is the matchmaking. Have to always remind myself that they will change most of it before release.

The interface in Dota 2 is the best out there are far as the big hitters in the genre go, so I can't really complain. LoL isn't bad, either, I guess. HoN makes me throw up a little in my mouth-hole.

(I'm talking in-game interface. Main menu is a whole other ballgame, although Dota 2 is clearly lacking in features that will eventually make their way into the game, so it's not really a fair comparison.)

These are contradictory statements. The replay system is lacking the feature that allows you to watch at slower speeds (or whatever it is you want).

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the interface. You're just talking about features.

What else is there to post about?
Oh, I don't know, something interesting?

"hey guys check out my score"
five posts later
"hey guys check out my new score"
five posts later
"did you see this latest development in my scoreitude it's rad maximum"

I mean, it's fine if you type up a story to go along with it I guess (I'm talking novel-length, here, at least fourteen chapters), but the scoreboard and a single line like "I just tried out Bloodseeker for the first time!" IS PRETTY BORING DON'T YOU THINK

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're not talking about the interface. You're just talking about features.

Im pretty sure it was obvious i was just talking about bugs in general
the only in-game things that are annoying are the Giant trees which make tree juking janky as fuck and the lack of a hero targettable map ping (are they going to implement this?)

It may be obvious to you, but you straight-up said "the features are there", so I naturally began to question your logic when you followed up with complaints about lacking features (which you are still doing!)! !!

This one's on you, bub! :D

if you get what im inferring is there a need to be a post nazi?
thats on you, bub.

You can't go backwards or scan on steam replays as far as I know. If that's what you mean it has nothing to do with the interface, and is just an issue with the underlying system. And the art is all good, dunno what else you want. Icons are strong, well drawn, and diverse for the most part.

So the only thing you're really complaining about is this texture:
dSa4r.jpg

Which doesn't look like generic Photoshop stuff at all, it looks like a pretty plain, non-distracting grey border that you'd want and/or expect from any game.

What are you inferring? It is incredibly unclear to me when you contradict yourself multiple times. "Post Nazi" is a cute touch, though.

You're awfully offended over nothing. This is stupid. Sorry I ever said anything. Geez.

Sue me, but I like the interface. Simple, clean, doesn't shovel distractions into my eyes. There are parts left incomplete, naturally, such as the limits on some control remaps and blank tabs on the main menu, but design-wise I very much like the direction they've taken it. Posters on Playdota and the like who argue that there needs to be leaves spewed all over the panels, and flashy crap all over the health and mana bars, and the item icons made more grainy and "gritty", they make my sinuses throb.

Oh, I don't know, something interesting?
I'm waiting for this super interesting topic of yours we can talk about.

For me, MOBA threads have four functions:
1) Bragging about your scores and troll builds
2) Giving advice to new players
3) Trash talking
4) Complaining about MOBAs

I like how you got so upset over this. Hint: Three of those are interesting. One of them is not. I'll let you figure it out, because you're not a braindead monkey.

At least Archie started linking to them instead of posting them directly.
