Dota 2 Beta Thread V: Real Talk Strikes Back [Tutorials]

I'm curious, which?

The ones I'm seeing a lot that I had written off or rarely seen are Lifestealer, Magnus, Nyx, Batrider, and Shadow Demon. There have been a few others as well but I can't remember their names. I guess it was foolish of me write them off but I guess I just assumed since I hadn't seen them very much they must not be good. It seems a lot of the heroes I see pretty frequently when playing I haven't seen much of in the tourney either. I guess that just shows how much of a gap in skill and game knowledge there is between where I am and pro level play.

you get it now .

BUT all of the items are without icon or in game representation so if you equip the items to her it takes away the parts that are equipped. Here's what it looks like with the items equipped atm.

Mine works normally.

Did you update dota 2 ?

Thanks. Very helpful.

No problem, you should also check out the Stream browser, it doesn't have a schedule but the streams are labeled and has description

I use it to watch random pro pub stream a lot

edit: Eurgh Blaze and Vykermond. Sorry but I don't think you could pay me to listen to those guys cast 60 levels worth of QOP upgrades.

all I can say is thank God for that autospectate command. because I just can't.

damn right. then again, the bar is so low when Blaze is the alternative. I'm honestly shocked they brought him back. I guess they didn't get any feedback about him. I apologize on behalf of all of you for not submitting a strongly-worded letter on behalf of all those who enjoy half-way decent casting.

I've been watching commentary to help me understand the game better. But noone has explained how players decide what lane to use. I often hear things like this hero should go mid, or bottom, or top. I speculate that some of it is based on your team. Like you would want one range and one melee instead of two range or two melee right? Like wise I hear carries are weak at the start of match so whatever lane they use you probably want your support to go with them right? and gankers are good for going in between lanes so you probaly want them to go mid to have an easier time getting to top and bottom.

Are those justfiable reasons? Did I get anything wrong or leave anything out?

You got the broad strokes right. Generally the hero you send mid is one of two things. If its a ganker you want them to be able to hit both lanes as well as to take rune control so they can gank more effectivly. Otherwise its susually a combination of someone who can farm effectivly and someone who you want to hit level 6 fast (or get fast levels in general) because of their high-impact abilities. You also usually want to send your carry with a relatively gold-independant support so that the carry can take most of the gold. People often send the carry-support team down the long lane, because its "safer" and easy to transition to jungling if they want or need to.

You probably shouldn't have just one character in a support role though. If you only have one strict "support" some of the other non-carry heroes (initiators, gankers, whatever) should be picking up a bit of the slack. But a lot of the best supports have dual roles, so you can have a few of them.

Short lane is probably the most flexible, although I'm starting to get out of even my tactical knowledge now. One thing professionals do a lot also is make a tri-lane with a carry and two others on the long lane and send someone else who wants a lot of farm and has a good escape down the short lane by themselves. But I don't see this done a lot in pub matches.

I don't know the specifics of the set and how it all works technically. I just made the set :p
Though I'll try to get answers on weather you can revert stages. Cause I know people love to mix and match.

This is what it looks like in game
Vid=only lvl 3 cause my internet sucks balls http://www.twitch.tv/anuxinamoon/c/2298400

Least played mode

They took Skywrath, QoP, and Lion

I took Pugna

Hilarity ensued

Although we lost pretty badly anyway because Juggurnaut + Lion lane is miserable

So like I'm watching West Qualifier replays, but my Smeevil game count isn't going up...

Do I have to watch the entire game not just highlights? Or does it only count if it's live?

So I just played my first 3 games, is it common for people to quit so often? Is that just at low rank? All 3 games had at least 2 people leave or abandon and only one game had people talking

Maybe the leave penalties arent so harsh? In CS:GO you get banned from matchmaking for 30mins, 2 hrs, 1 day, 1 week and 2 weeks every time you quit so almost no one does

Yeah, that doesn't happen too much as you get higher level matchmaking. I haven't had someone just leave in weeks, and people are generally communicative.

Pretty much every game I play in low rank has people leave.

Leaving is only common in the beginning. Co-op mode should be better for starting out.

Just practice with bots and GAF inhouse for the first 100 or so games.
