Dota 2 Beta Thread V: Real Talk Strikes Back [Tutorials]

The point I'm trying to make is: once PL is fed, your team composition/skills... wont matter. The only time I remember seeing a fed PL lose was when Gyro got that double rapier, and imo, that's just ridiculous. As someone (I guess it was Tobi) said, going against a PL is fighting against the clock.

In a real situtation, you wont be ganking PL 24/7 just because he's there. You have to farm/push/counter push. That's why I dont buy this "just gank him early" thing.

Well, the problem here is you're assuming that PL lives in this ideal world where he's never ganked or punished or the opposing team doesn't choose to knock on your doorsteps. There are appropriate steps to take when dealing with the lancer and Rox.Kis chose the beat-them-in-midgame route... except Alch chose the worst possible items to deal with a PL.

It's really silly to say "once x hero is fed, game is over" because you can say that for a lot of heroes. Void fed? Yeah good luck dealing with that. CK/Wisp fed? Okay, have fun ever catching up. AM fed? Enjoy dat splitpush forever. Blahty blah. This premise that a hero that is fed is hard to deal with is ridiculous because, ideally, you don't let x hero get fed in the first place.

The starladder VI hud is hilariously ugly.

:/ I find it a lot better than TPL's one.

Prob a bit impressed after seeing a "professional" team being stomped, but I'd love to see a visual cue to Doppelwalk.

Does this count as under 18 mins? They called gg and all d/c'd before 18 mins, but scores creen came up about a min later.

Also, pl offlane.. guess that's how you fix him right!

PL is so so hard to deal with if he gets farm, but he's the most useless hero in the game until he gets that farm, so yeah you have great late game potential but you're pretty much playing 4v5 until at least mid game. One of the biggest problems is that it's so easy to get the farm you need, which can't be said about many other heroes. According to dotabuff, so this is for pub games, PL wins ~54% of games compared to AM and FV who win ~42% if you want to take that as meaning anything.

An indicator for doppelwalk would be nice, and maybe a small drop in agility gain.

I still cant believe you dont get the point that once you have a fed hero, none will surpass PL. And the only counter you have is "don't let him farm", that IS ridiculous. And that was an offlane PL.
Yes, but there must always be a hero that's the best late game hero, right now it's PL, before it has been medusa and some other heroes.
anti fun always wins always gets farm icefraud plz nerf impossible to counter blink op

THEY EVEN HAD FUCKING SILENCER! Still survive the silence and blink away, fukken gg.

And they did.

There are like plenty of carries that can 1v1 PL with even farm..

Tiny, Sven, Luna, Void, Kunkka, Medusa, Gyrocopter, maybe AM and PA if they get good RNG..

And several of those are better than PL early game as well, so they can bully him and keep him from farming.

And they were balanced accordingly. PL needs that.

So which hero is allowed to be the best late game carry after Void?

edit: As a matter of fact, Void is pretty much always guaranteed to be the best maxed out carry because of Chronosphere. That's not fair, all the other late game heroes "were balanced accordingly" right? Void needs that.

This is all I want. Let me see when I should use my dust instead of forcing me to gamble on if he's actually around or not. And no, I can't attack all the illusions to find the real one, because by that time if he was around he has doppelwalked and is 1500+ units away.

That's utter nonsense. Gyro for example is close to being as good if not better than PL in the late game and has a much easier time early on. There are plenty of cominations that can deal with PL late game too, even Alch/Magnus has the potential to wreck him if he gets caught in an RP. You seriously need to get over your hate for the hero, if he was anywhere near as good as you think he'd be picked in for more competitive games when at the current time Gyro/LS are practically picked in every match.

I'm still fairly new to DOTA, so all this pre game pick strategy talk is super confusing to me right now.

I wish there was a newbie friendly commentator stream.

Void at least requires some skill. A bad placed ulti can screw your entire team. PL is just hit a creep wave-> spawn 10 illusion-> back and let your illusions do their work.

Ok so let's make all the "skillshot" heroes the best in the game because they require skill. Gyro, Lifestealer, and antimage are no skill right click heroes let's nerf them all to the ground.

Dota is more than just skillshots. The "skill" aspect comes from drafting, game sense, coordination, map awareness, positioning, item builds, timing, last hitting, etc... There are so many other factors to the game, having a skill shot is just one of many.

I dont hate. I just think he is too good late game to have such a great escape mechanism early on. Right now= Highest agility gain, one of the best escapes in the game, hard to lock down in a team fight, low cooldown/high damage/ nuke that also slows, and when you add mana burn from diffusal you got the ultimate bullshit hero right there.

It's about as noob friendly as any stream has ever been, they even have the map to show where they are setting up the lanes.

Generally, you would pick up the understanding of what's going on from playing the game more.

Yeah.. It's very confusing when you first start watching and don't understand why they are picking the heroes they are. It's something that mostly just comes with time. Sometimes the commentators will call out why certain picks were good or bad, and you can learn from stuff like that too.
