Just started playing about 2-3 weeks ago (Daily Data got me into it :/) and I find myself to be be decently competitive in Pub matches, mainly thanks to some good coaching from fellow GB guys.

After playing mainly with full party, I started to solo the last couple of games just to play a bit more, and dear lord do newbie pubs not know how to handle playing against a Sand King who liberally uses sandstorm.

I was playing a random draft game, being the first to pick I chose Sand King as I have played a decent amount and know how to handle him. My team was decently compitent at choosing a lineup, but the other team was decked out with 4 carries and a junggler.

To make a long story short, not one person bought wards or gem on the other team and I could sit in the middle of the opposition team with my sandstorm going waiting for my mana to regen or timers to go down.

Found even more love for Sand King for this reason.

A few questions:
Sentry wards can see him when sand storming? What about Sladar or BH's track?
You can damage SK with AOE still right?
You can silence him out of the storm? So silencer would be a good counter pick or anyone with an aoe silence.(riki?)

Noob moment of the day.
Playing Tinker. Found out if you spammed bottle in fountain you regen faster and the bottle auto fills. Yes maybe super obvious but it was a revelation to me.

The worst part of collecting player cards is when you get down to the last card only to find out it's one of the most sought after cards (Sylar).

Yeah Sentry wards can see SK, but this team didn't buy any wards at all :/
Not sure about Solar or BH, but I would think they might.
You can damage SK with aoe, but this team just kinda left me be :/ I wasn't too worried about aoe spells though, I had a heart :D
Not sure on the silence... but again this team was pretty cruddy.

Sorry wasn't meaning to give you suggestions. These were more questions for my own clarity.

Speaking of high impact heroes, went spectre the next game and we absolutely demolished the enemy team, we were losing with our death prophet managing to keep things together for us (mostly losing cos I spent 70 percent of the time in lane and jungle during early midgame because I had a hard time in lane competing over last hits with undying at the start).
But after I finally got radiance after 21 mins the kills just start flowing in.

Once you get manta style as well spectre is just a monster.
The ult just wrecks people and with the dagger to phase through trees or terrain it's so hard to escape from spectre or catch him when he's farming.

Kind of fun to play these liability/monster heroes if you can scrape some farm together before it is too late.

but ever so delicious
Anyone having issues with the game registering any sort of input? I get these random bits of lag where the char just stops for 5 seconds.

I was somehow better at Treant before the buff when nobody ever picked him. Maybe now hes crap again people will forget how to deal with him.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
dommynick: she's asking him to fill in the blank
'dota 2 is ____'
he said
dota 2 is fun
; \
haly: is this
dommynick: what a wordsmith
haly: some after school special
dommynick: lol
the caster is like
usually the carry is the mvp
but dota is a type of game where supports can be an mvp
being support is extremely hard compared to other games (leeg)
Some riveting dialogue going on here.
