tl losing against a t3 team, gj

it's pretty obvious that the strongest western teams at TI3 are gonna be Na'Vi, Alliance, and EG

Just received another 7 invites bringing my total count to 20. Is Valve sending out another wave to build International hype? I can't even give these things away anymore.

Yup. They trying to find the peak before it crashes and burns like wow.

I would, I'm still pissed they didn't stagger them and getting a ticket was a lottery in itself with you trying to glitch your way through each step. Also they are being scalped on their own service.

It would have been a lottery anyway. Everybody who wanted a ticked would be there at the same time, refreshing at same time. No matter how fast you are every body else would have the same.

Tickets would be sold regardless, I haven't checked since first day, but I only saw like 4/5 in the market at that time.

Valve take a chunk out of anything sold on their marketplace.

The market has a cap so people are selling on other websites also. I don't think that is the case I've never had problems with other tickets aslong as the system itself does't fail. Maybe I'm just sour since I went to TI2, but it was also a little disheartening showing up there and the place being half full. People picking up tickets for the hell of it thinking they would get something special or trying to scalp them. If it wasnt for the free PAX entry that crowd would have only had like half the people during the finals. I'm hoping this year more fans will show up to attend.

Please they couldnt even get the tickets online at the stated time. Whole thing was stupid. And the fact that you could think you had a ticket and add money to your steam wallet and then the system would glitch and not let you finish the transaction had to be infuriating. Valve deserved shit for it.

They didn't expect the amount of people that wanted tickets no. Servers were fucked. They can get shit for that sure. But it would have been a lottery if the servers were fine too.

Yeah, the whole experience was just awful. It seems like people are making excuses on Valves behalf, and once again they still haven't said a word.

And they never will.

They should have expected that. Actually I'm sure they did, but what were they going to do about it? Rent out more servers for an hour?

So there's nine heroes left to port to DOTA 2, how many do you guys think won't make it in before TI3?
Techies only

I still have hope that the full CM pool goes in before TI3, and that any heroes we have hints of development on (Abyssal Underlord/Legion Commander) are likely to go into CM in the next major dota patch.

So I'm hoping for Abbadon, LC, Underlord, Techies, and Terrorblade. (if anybody at valve cares; his balance changes have always seemed to me like Icefrog doesn't know what to do with the character, and nobody ever picks him in dota 1 to my knowledge.)

Aslong as they have a working system where it doesn't break down I've never had trouble getting tickets on a lot of other major services. Hopefully next year they get a bigger venue.

You sound like a guy who has never tried picking up limited stuff from the net before. I could have told you months ago that this would have turned out exactly like it turned out.

Valve doesn't care because in the end, 1000 tickets were sold and they still made money.

Also Valve like never responds to anything when it comes to this sort of stuff

I just want the next big dota patch to come in. I expect we'll see Commander and Abbadon soon, but I really do hope we see more before TI3 starts.

Lucky you!

Were all of those events with 10 tickets for 10k people too?

I wasn't aware that TI3 has 10 people going, but if you want to do ratios. I've managed to get tickets to last 2 PAX and Blizzcon events no problem. Luck probably had something to do with it, but not as much as it had to with getting TI3 tickets.

I'm sure you guys are right, like I said just feeling frustrated.

Were there only 1000 tickets sold for TI2 also?
1200. But Valve kept a bunch for PAX guests. Personally, I want to know where the other 1300 seats are for this year. Surely they can't all be for Valve staff and the players. The place seats 2500.

For reference, PAX had 70,000 people last year, so comparing it to that is kind of silly.

I can't find a stat for Blizzcon 2 years ago, or how many tickets they sold for this years. But I can find plenty of stories of people bitching about how it sold out too fast!

Nobody is bitching about the speed of the tickets selling out here. It had more to do with the process. Although the early blizzcons did have horrible system the last 2 have been fairly smooth. About statistics we need to also take into account the pool of people trying to get the tickets, but more tickets means probably easier to get as long as you hit refresh on the intended time.

Capacity:
Orchestra level: 1,527 seats
Founders Tier: 282 seats
Second Tier: 282 seats
Third Tier: 390 seats
Total: 2,481 seats
edit: some of the upper tiers have obstructed view lol.

I don't think there is a [insert flavor of the month person to shit on] tier.

Sorry dude nobody wants to sit in the first 3-4 rows or the in the wings of the back of the room. I'm guessing the upper tiers are reserved while the rabble + icefrog are orchestra level

Did you see if someone at Valve could actually hook you up with a ticket yet?

Yeah thank goodness. I'm hoping a few more workshop peeps get in too. I know a bunch of us love the game as well as making items and wanted to go. :)

But yes I'll be in seattle! I get to meet all you crazy nerds :D

I sure do hope so. Dota2 is like doubling every year. They need to let the community who loves the game have a con they can all feasibly go to.

You think next year they will have a bigger venue ?
Valve could totally pull off a valvecon and host a dota thing along with cs and tf2 and half life stuff and probably get to blizzcon levels easy but it would probably take more time and effort then they want to invest.
