problem is, by the time PA is big enough to do anything, Sven/Gyro probably will be aswell.
edit: or they could just feed PA kills...

This is wrong, in my experience. PA is a very effective mid game hero. People often play her as an AFK farmer, but you only need phase, and some kind of stat item (drums, Aquila or just PMS) to be a good participant in early and mid game fights. She doesn't have a wombo combo AE ult, but she'll be able to feed off supports early game because of her high attack speed with blink strike, low cool downs and high survivability with blink escapes and blur.

I always feel you really need bkb, if you get stunned once you're dead

Yeah. Well it's not quite that bad - I think she's slightly more survivable than she gets credit for, but what I was inferring is that she can get a really quick BKB because of her low cool down, long range hero killing ability.

For reference, the closest game Alliance had was against Liquid.

It really was just strange. That just goes to show how little these teams bothered learning how to play against the West. Iceiceice said it a while back in a QnA session that they simply do not care about the West, and dont need to worry about them. I imagine that mentality went through a lot of these teams.

Thankfully they learned it the hard way before TI3. Maybe next time they wont give Alliance every single hero they want, every single game.

Edit: Of course, grats to Alliance. They did extremely well

lol even though they gave Sylla away twice in the finals, this is impossible. You cant ban against specific players on Alliance, they have too broad a pool outside of AB. And if you spend your bans on AB your bound to let really dangerous heroes into Akke or s4's hands.

The craziest part of that game was the smoke gank on PA that was actually a bait of sorts by wisp to immediately relocate away. Just crazy how aware alliance was and how perfectly timed their escape was. No fear at all to preemptively leave the lane even knowing what was coming.

Loda plays all the carries. I don't think it matters.

I'm not talking about Loda. But saying that this performance means everything with a major patch incoming is getting ahead of yourself. Plus if Asia really was underestimating the West, I dont think they will any longer. I dont think they can afford to.

Eh it wasnt really a bait. Thats where wisp should always be. It was more a diffusal of LGD's attempts at aggression.

Well of course they have a large pool of heroes they rock with, but they got what many would consider their strongest. As Sabot stated, Liquid was really the only team that gave them a good fight.

Obviously drafting wasn't the only problem too. My main point was the eastern teams didn't even have the west on radar. They need to change that real fast for TI3.

Zenith play a lot like the west with a touch of crazy, so lets see if that helps them out later this year.

DK gave them a fight. Even Alliance themselves admitted that was their shakiest game despite the insane advantage the level 1 rosh gave them.

DK had an excellent defense, but I would say a lot of that was due to Ursa being Ursa. That was probably the most exciting match I saw.

When does the qualifiers kick in again?

Right after that shitty allstar game. Valve needs to cancel that for TI3. Seems like an awful idea. Make a skills competition or 1v1, but lumping dudes together for no reason is terribad.

Yeah :/ If they do keep it going, I hope they at least make it more interesting somehow.

Unveil pudge wars with it. Make it happen blizzard

Ummm itd be fine if one team wasnt forced to random all their heroes...

lol just cause you dust doesnt mean you deserve to get the kill automatically. If its broken, its the cost efficiency of the item, not its use as an escape, that make it too good.

I never said I deserved a kill. Dunno how you read that into it. I just said that the movement speed gives the enemy an edge in escaping even though he is already invisible. I am not saying this OMGBROKENPLSNERF. Sometimes you don't get the kill even when you gank him with dust and it's frustrating, that's all. Sentries are mostly useless against people with Shadowblade since they are out of the range so fast.

Shadowblade is just generally a very strong item, 30AS, 30DMG, + 20%MS/150 bonus damage escape/initiate spell. I have a feeling Icefrog is gonna adjust it a little bit, come next patch.

Pretty much, and there are some War3 engine quirks that were ironed out in Dota 2. (i.e. Rubick not being able to steal Panda's ultimate in WC3, but that being possible in D2)

Shadow is mildly used in pro games. Almost one in every pub.

finally started playing some magnus, such a fun hero.

Magnus is the first hero that I think I actually got good with, since his skillset kind of forces you to have good positioning and you need to last hit and win your lane mid in order to be effective. Really great hero, so much fun.

The only unfortunate side effect is that I now have to play him every game when me and my friends captain's mode. Dat RP pressure.

Also, anyone know how long until the next update? Really want my learn and store screens to stop being ultra zoomed in...

So after a week of playing I have a few issues...

During team fights I just panic and die instantly; I rarely feel like I helped the team at all. I never really know who to focus or when to go in. My perception is no matter when I engage I either get blown to pieces, or I'm too late and the rest of the team is decimated.

The other issue is similar... I just really don't know what I should be doing at any given time. I end up just wondering between towers trying to be with the team for fights, but I either arrive late, or end up out of position by myself. I feel like every player is one step of ahead of me and I'm just desperately trying to catch up. I believe my limited knowledge of the game prevents me from making my own decisions, and has me worried I'm disappointing the team in some fashion.

I don't think I have ever played a game where I feel so utterly helpless at times. It's really frustrating, but the highs outweigh the lows by a large margin, so I'm dedicated to getting better... I just really don't know how.

Play with other gaffers who can teach you. Easiest thing to do is get someone who tells you what to do and WHY you should do it.

You can PM as well if you like to

Wait, can you explain how this works? I just got into Dota 2.

Are the games on par with each other right now when it comes to heroes and abilities, besides the heroes that are no in Dota 2?

Correct. And the missing heroes will all be ported over in time. Dota 1 will get the latest major version changes (6.78 is next, for example) first, then Dota 2 will patch in those changes shortly after.

This RNG Elite League has the worst casters

Eurgh

Fixed that for you
