Yeah, you can kill Huskar with Scythe alone, but he needs to be down to about 1% hp. Heart Stopper will kill at the point before Scythe hits the ground.

Did you just ignore all my maths, Kirbs?

I'm hurt, wounded, insulted.

Scythe + Aghanim + 18% health = kill

Odd, I did the math when the patch came out, and showed he needed to still be really low for it to kill him. Let me do maths, your stuff is likely correct.

Ugh, Antimage goes Vanguard and manages to barely get his Battlefury by 35 minutes

I tell him that vanguard is shit and he should have went Battlefury much earlier and skipped vanguard.
Answer: I know what i'm doing :)

really dude? Then we have an OCD QoP who pops her ulti as soon as she sees an enemy without even thinking how to place it. I think out of all her ults, maybe one hit an enemy.

I play the new huskar, but fail miserably. I needed lifesteal because I was bursted down so easily and couldn't get any farm afterwards.

AM was probably building from the default item build list from valve. They really need to change it or build a item guild that flow charts item builds based on expected GPM min max expectations and timing.

"I know what I'm doing -- I'm following Valve's official guide!" Dude on some Dean Venture shit.

Is a Crystal Maiden aura build viable? With the increased mana regen post patch, I was wondering if you could max aura with a Ring of Basilius and spam Frostbite in lane. I've never seen anyone take aura at 1, 3 and 5. Just curious because it negatively impacts your ability to get first blood, but I think the spamming potential after level 3 is pretty high.

8 clarity, 1 gauntlet of strength, 1 gg branch very viable with this build.

In HoN I used to sometimes get 1 in nova 1 in frost bite and 3 in aura (1-2-3-3-3) on the Crystal-Maiden-equivalent hero. Not really for spamming but to help out a mana hungry team early game. The slow on nova is still pretty decent even at level 1 (3.5 sec). Haven't played CM much in dota though.

While we're on the subject of Viper, kids, don't get Vanguard. It's even worse on him than it is on most melee carries.

Get a Poor Man's or a Mek. Mek's fucking awesome on him.

Just tossed up the second episode of Dota Today. We roped in Brad Muir from Double Fine as our guest -- turns out he's a big Dota player, and had some cool stuff to say about how it might influence Massive Chalice. Would love to know what you guys think of the show so far.

I paused Thumbs and immediately listened to DT as soon as you guys mentioned it on the cast. I love the dynamic between the normal team when it comes to Dota, so I'm happy you guys started DT so I can get more of that.

The first ep was fun. I've been playing Dota a lot longer than you guys and when you mentioned how you don't use Blink on Tinker because its daunting at the moment I got a jolt of nostalgia from when I had those kinds of doubts myself.

My immediate apprehension is I wonder how much you'll have to talk about from your perspective without going into strategies and anecdotes? You gave the example of the QOP TOP/POTM BOTTOM reader mail as the kind of banter you want to have. I wonder if there's really enough of that kind of talk to actually have a weekly podcast. Would be fantastic if the material is there though.

What I would hope doesn't happen is talk about team roster changes, drama between players, etc. I wouldn't expect you or Sean to get into that stuff anyway, but it's some of the most mind-numbing garbage to hear people in the community talk about beef between pro teammates, who is climbing up the scene and who is falling, etc.

Also since I'm replying here I'll just say that your stories about Neptune's Pride are fucking amazing and make me genuinely afraid to play that game as I don't want to know what kind of vicious, ruthless streak I've got buried inside me. But by all means keep it up :)

I keep seeing all these Mek over Vanguard recommendations on heroes, but every time I wonder if that's the way to go when most teams likely have a support that will probably buy it. I suppose you could argue multiple Meks being okay in the same way multiple Drums are, but I can't help but wonder if it's really as redundant as two ACs or two Pipes.

Have: Riki x4
Want: Bounty hunter, Phantom Lancer and Tidehunter.

Name on steam is Chuck.

Edit: Got bounty hunter, still looking for the other two.

Edit2: Got Phantom Lancer as well, now looking for Tidehunter.

Edit3: Aaaaaand it's gone.

What do they mean by "new captains mode layout"? Did they just move some heroes around or did they actually revamp it to look less thrown together and old, maybe not going full "card" with it? Anyone have a screenshot? I won't be able to check for myself for a few days.

It's the new Draft. Ban - Ban - Ban - Ban - Pick - Pick - Pick - Pick - Ban - Ban - Ban - Ban - Pick - Pick - Pick - Pick - Ban - Ban - Pick - Pick

You also have to consider the timing and how effective a mek is going to be. Since a carry/semi carry like OD or viper will be getting priority on farm, they are able to get the mek up and running around the 7-10 minute mark where its effectiveness is much greater. So great even that you can turn fights completely around with it because it heals low health supports for at least a quarter of their health.

It also makes the person who picks it up pretty much unkillable if they get it that early.

I don't know why I wasted so much time trying to be a good babysitter with Crystal Maiden. Lina best sister all the way.

solo'd hardlane as slark, against dazzle and clinks.
killed both of them as soon as i got my ult.
i'd feel like such a pro if slark wasnt so OP.

I don't know who started this trend of rushing midas on sniper but I'd like to thank whoever popularised it, as a Tide Hunter it makes my life so much easier laning against it. Skip boots more often please.

The trend started the instant the words 'More gold' was posted in the tooltip.

I do enjoy the new Huskar, not really sure how to build him now. Phase + Helm + Crits?
Treads are still a must, same for Urn. You still want Strength for his Heal to be potent. Crits and armor for later game, really depends on what you want more first survivability or damage.
