I feel like I'm starting to get to that hump where I understand enough about the game to know why I'm terrible at it. So that's good I guess? Definitely getting a lot more enjoyment now.

Had a really fun game as Dazzle last night (thank you to Glix, ObiWannabe, Devanous, and whomever was playing SB (not showing up on Dotabuff) for being patient with my play), and am having fun with supports in general. WD is fun, Dazzle is fun, and I'm tempted to try out Omniknight too. Wisp is still effing complicated (I need to find someone to partner with me for ganks/tutorials), but I like him/her/it.

Gonna go read a warding guide now I guess.
 
If I want to open a few chests to maybe find a courier or something, does it matter what type of chest I open? Are the items from some chests worth more than of others or something?

1/40 chance of getting a rare courier. The new roshon is like $700 so yeah it is like playing the lottery

The newest chest has re-released all of the newest available couriers with all of the Random Color Effects like searing essence and ethereal flame with sunfire (?)

If you want the Limited Effects couriers like frostivus frost, Crystal Rift, mushrooms I think you have to open that specific chest

Some folks on Reddit made out the file name, it says shadow_fiend so we know it's a remake.

Which is good because he's the ugliest hero in the game
 
have they come out with a reason as to why pub matchmaking is as terrible as it is? 90% of games are lopsided one way or another. intentional?

You take that back! He's got the most swag in the game is what's up. The new look could just be an Arcana item, but it would kinda suck if they made that version as the default, then forced us to buy a skin for the current one.

The new one is alright, but it kinda makes him look liked a bloated AA.

he looks like a piece of burnt plastic. He has no detail or anything, just blobs of black and blobs of red with a head.

Looking at the concept art, they'll probably just rig him to the current animations and just update the model like the other hero updates.
 
I doubt it, it looks like fanart. Look at TB's feet and muscles. Amateurish stuff. If Valve is hiring artists of this caliber they must be really hurting for talent.

I don't want to see Namor in DOTA2 anyway.

The way it works, is that you do both at the same time basically and carry every pub / trench game to victory.

Best thing is you go mid as radiant because you will get ancient farm AND midlane farm /XP. THey can't steal your stack because anyone who dares go up there alone will be instantly grilled by you and the ancients.

On dire, go botlane and stack ancients as much as possible and try to leech some XP / farm from the lane as well.

Once you have blink and MoC, you can go to town and win every gank singlehandedly.
Then when you have disrupted their team enough and you start getting a lot of farm mid / lategame, you can still easily transition because of all the gold you made by ganking.

The last game I went this build I lost though because I was doing solo Roshan and forgot to save for buyback money and the moment Rosh died, I was hooked by Pudge and they proceeded to just bumrush the ancient. Pretty stupid mistake by me.
 
Wtf I've been away for 2 weeks and still not one new hero? Volvo better get their shit together by the time I return to the states.

I tried support Alch and it was terrible. I never had any mana and his stun is too unreliable unless you're a good player. Plus, my whole team was giving me shit, because "lol alch is a carry not a support u stupid noob cyka." Very unpleasant.
 
I'm curious to see this week's Hero updates. Last week's Puck and Brew ones were alright, and I'm expecting Storm Spirit and Venomancer very soon. Riki's and Venge's from a few weeks back was awesome too. Now we can throw SF into the pile of expected remakes.

Hopefully Zeus and Earthshaker are coming up. Both have low res textures and Zeus is really odd looking. ES probably just needs a shiny new, high res texture ala Riki's redesign, but Zeus needs a lot more.

That's not the problem about people playing alchemist. The problem is that they either a) Don't know how to farm properly or b) Overextend like crazy and die over and over again.

On very, very rare ocasions there is also those "highest GPM of the week" tryhards who build midas+ mjolnir+radiance and then complain they lost since we are playing 4v5 until 80 minutes in because they delayed their items by 7k+ gold.

Well, honestly you get Soul Ring in this build so Mana should never be problem, your ult basically refills you mana as well. The stun is not unreliable at all since your first core item after MoC is Blink Dagger. Just wait until the stun is about 4-3 seconds, blink in and throw it immediatly. Most of the time it's going to be a guaranteed max stun.
My teams mostly started flaming me as well, but after I went like 13-2 after I got my Blink, most of them wrote "holy shit this really works".

It is important though that you have a good carry. Else you gotta transition much faster into the carry role yourself which I myself don't like very much.

This build is simply so much more fun to play.
 
Had a game yesterday where our Faceless Void caught all of our own team in his chrono and made us lose the game. He then tried to blame everyone else on the team. It was frustrating but so funny at the same time. It's amazing how you quickly change from laughter to tears in this game.

Clockwerk has had a new, unused model for a long time. It looks really nice, but it's just taking forever to implement.

Honestly, I think Tinker is fine as he is. His textures are alright (not blurry like Clockwerk and Earthshaker) and his model is fine. I'm sure Valve could make an awesome update to him, but he's probably not that high of a priority

Although the same could have been said for Venomancer and he's being remade, so who knows

Just report people like that.
I report one of those kind of random douches without engaging them once a day or once every other day, and like clockwork I get a 'we have taken action here is an extra report for this week thanks for keeping dota community blabla' message every time I log in.

The shittalkers never last long without getting muted since the new report system, it's awesome.
As long as you aren't intentionally feeding or being intentionally counterproductive or griefing you can play however you want.

Looks like there may be some revamp to the Drop System coming soon, it has a check mark and they just have a small note marked "buckets" next to it.

Also, they may have exclusive steam trading cards to TI3.

It actually says "Tears Incoming 3". Tear, like the wet things from the eye, rather than tear, like Bioshock Infinite.

And Tinker is alright. Would probably be fine if they just broke him down and let people make cosmetics for him. Could do some cool stuff there.

Might just be a reminder that they need to make sure everything is ready with Twitch for them to stream.


It would also make more sense to integrate twitch streaming directly into Steam instead of Dota 2.
 
Just had another really fun game.. This time with Sand King for the first time. His spike stun thing and epicenter is so epic :D

Anyone up for a friendly 5v5 private match?
 
Kunkka's boat is retardedly strong. Checking the wiki, it keeps getting buffed a lot. It just needs practice, but it destroys teams.

350 dmg w 60 secs cooldown at level 1; 550(!!!) with 40 secs cooldown at level 3.
