Yeah although I'm sure this event was a massive financial success for Valve I have to imagine they look at is and are disappointed in a few other ways.
True. For everybody that is all like "people say they don't want traditional, long-ass, Chinese Dota games now they say they don't want fast games" the difference is, most of those long-ass Chinese Dota games feature one team getting a nearly insurmountable early lead and then not pressing their advantage and just ending it when they can, instead backing off to farm and six slot their cores before finally pushing into the base because it's "safe."
There's a huge difference between traditional, drawn out, Chinese Dota Vs. a rat game, where a rat game is unsure until the very end. Rat Dota games more often than not end with the team that does NOT have a clear advantage early/mid game coming out on top. Traditional, long-ass Chinese Dota is one team dominating kills and economy for 60+ minutes and then deciding it's time to finally win. Not saying traditional, long-ass, Chinese Dota games would have been more exciting than what we got, but rat Dota definitely would have been.
IceFrog might want to take a look at death ball strats (maybe tower armor needs to be buffed early and slowly degrade over time?) but the only thing Valve really needs to do is figure out a better tournament format. I think knowing 2 of the top 3 teams after a single day of the main event did the entire event a huge disservice.
Disappointment in the grand final aside, you can't really argue that overall this tournament was all bad tho. It was definitely a tournament of underdogs. There were a lot of good runs from teams that nobody gave a chance to, and that's a good thing. I think all that excitement just peaked early.
i dont want drunk sexts from gaffersYou sommbitches are going to have to explain to my why you didn't just exchange phone numbers like civilized people.
i dont want drunk sexts from gaffers
i already get too manyCan't handle the rejection?
We're catching lunch at bambinos.
Has beer and za.
Everyone is welcome!
On my way.Back table at Bambino's on 4th and Cedar
its just incredibly disappointing when every single other grand finale had highlights to offer while this one didn't have anyWhy do people think the ti finals should always be close and dramatic? That's not how it is in any other sport. Hell sometimes you wait 4 years for a world cup and end up with a penalty shoot out in the final.
I get that people are disappointed but I don't see why it being a blow-out is some kind of problem for the "meta" or a crisis for the game in general.

We did?You sommbitches are going to have to explain to my why you didn't just exchange phone numbers like civilized people. Forums shouldn't be your text messaging system.

James says he wont host another TI
Now that the finals are done, lets talk Hero model updates and shit
I dont know how theyre going to change Void. His model is already so nice plus he has so many sets that would have to be changed
PA Arcana better have a fucking amazing crit animation. Like if you get a critcial hit kill the enemy hero/creep is cut in half and the top half slides to the floor while the bottom half falls over
highest skill 3k everCouldn't tell if I was watching the International Grand Finals or a replay pack of my sub 3k MMR pubstomp losses.
All this hype with The International is starting to get to me. I think I may actually try to jump in and play DOTA 2.
I installed it over the weekend and played the first three tutorial missions, and watched a few videos about the basic concepts online.
Any recommended 'study material' that I can watch outside of the game?
Does anyone know when compendium point earning stops? I want to complete my player card collection but I still need like 5 cards and for some reason they're all like $0.20 on the market right now. How much time do I have to wait and see if they go back down to $0.03?
So now that it's over, let's look at how our fave teams did and what you think about them going forward.
Yeah I'm ready to get my Dota streamers back. It's been a wasteland during TI outside of Tony streams.
Don't make me depressed about Alliance again
Anyone else more hyped about balance changes than the new heroes? Not that I dislike the current meta or any of the popular heroes but it's just the most exciting part for me, listening to several analyses, theorycrafting my ass off, etc. Maybe I'm weird.
YESSSSYeah I'm ready to get my Dota streamers back. It's been a wasteland during TI outside of Tony streams.
Lycan nerfed so hard his dick falls off and he becomes a Werechicken
YESSSS
I need my Bulldog, SingSing, Icex3(does he even stream anymore?), N0tail, H4nni streams.
Tinker removed from game
god yes
having to watch moonmeander is the worst

Omniknight imba, plz nerf.
Really its just this. I don't mind the speed, I don't mind the heroes or anything, it just feels like the games we watched were consistently one sided escalation. There was a relative lack of back and forth developmentAs fun as these ultra aggressive games are to watch, they snowball incredibly fast. When teams play this good and manage to exploit every little advantage, it becomes one-sided really fast after one team makes a mistake. There's wasn't really a lot of back and forth either, because if you lose one or two fights you are already on a disadvantage and if you then try to force something to happen it's a recipe for disaster.
Because they didn't pick enough stall or counter push or pickoff imoReally its just this. I don't mind the speed, I don't mind the heroes or anything, it just feels like the games we watched were consistently one sided escalation. There was a relative lack of back and forth development
