It would add complexity, yes, but complexity isn't necessarily a good thing. It's depth that you want, and I'm not sure talent trees would add much in the way of depth.

well, to be fair, i feel like these kinds of talents would be much easier to balance than any new items they add to the game.
Also, this would make support heroes more interesting to play, i suppose, because you'd be getting exciting stuff at a more predictable pace and you're less dependent on gold farm.

I found the talent system in Heroes(ofhestorm) to be intriguing. It's not like they're adding the shared XP / Level pool, or removing creep denying

I'm not playing DotA anymore cause I switched to HotS (prefer simpler, shorter games), but I'm intrigued but what 7.0 will bring to the game as I still follow the pro-scene. Surely Valve won't just take the talent system from HotS and shove it in their game? The whole point of talent system is not to have items not to add an extra layer on top.

I mean on one hand this change does sound like a 7.0 kind of thing, but I'm inclined to think it's fake until the site's up.
