Reposting for a new page to make sure I'm all caught up on everyone.

PSN ID: Audioboxer
Pawn name: Yuria
Pawn level: 25
Pawn vocation: Sorcerer (has mage rank maxed out, so 10% damage buff)
Additional details: Has armour and weapons from Bitterblack Isle (Adept's gear and Plucked Heart). Feel free to friend request.

This game is amazing, forgot how good it was. Working through some Gran Soren quests right now. I spent a few hours at the beginning of the game doing runs through Bitterblack Isle for 4 rings of perseverance, and some other armour/weapons from moonbeams. Also managed to get some other decent loot from chests/bitterblack armor lvl 1.

You can do all of that with resetting progress to hard mode and re-doing the very start of the game. No real reason to put yourself through that, but I just enjoy using legit in-game tactics to do "death runs" for cool shit. I do it in Souls as well. The rings of perseverance are awesome. 2 of them give 100% more discipline points. That really helps early on. I think it actually maxes out vocations quicker too. My main strider and pawn mage maxed out vocations just before level 20. I've now switched to assassin/sorcerer.

Updating my pawn a bit.

PSN ID: Achire
Pawn name: Freia
Pawn level: 32
Pawn vocation: Strider
Additional Details: A friendly strider with a cool cloak. Loves long walks on the beach and Harspuid Sauce, absolutely hates Griffins. Extensive beastiary and quest knowledge, good gear and high-end skills (upgraded Brain Splitter, Adhesion, Clout etc.). Currently #1 ranked Strider on PS4. Please add GAF to your friend requests. I have sent requests to everyone in the OP.

Griffin knowledge 3 stars remains my bane. I hooked up with fellow GAF Striders Arys and Abby and managed to get the most difficult part done, which is launching three pawns onto a flying Griffin as a Fighter. There's a great spreadsheet for anyone looking to complete a difficult beastiary entry.

I still have Freia in my party. I started the first part of BBI last night in an attempting get good gear and we did pretty well, until she got knocked off a cliff. But I rented her again. She is very solid.

It's fun reading some of these experiences like I'm reliving the original release all over again. I should triple dip. This game is so much fucking fun.

Thanks! Arys is a cool pawn too, I just got her to 2 stars on Griffins.

As for Freia, I just upgraded her dagger to Dragon's Pain, that will hopefully help in BBI. Still working on a decent bow, though.

I'm trying to find a new bow and dagger because what she has currently equipped is trash. But it won't change until later on today since I have to work. But I appreciate the beastiary knowledge.

Is it me of there is way less coin purses found on the treasure chests? I remember making it to gran soren on ps3 with way more money than i have now.

I tried to go to Witchwood before gran soren but i was getting 1shot by some bandits.

The capitol city has gear. Go to the Pawn camp, fight a boss, then escort a cart. In fact, do all those things right away so you unlock the other classes.

Don't do them right away, are missable quests you get by returning to home town first.

Before talk to Mercedes for a quest go back home to find new quests.

Ta :) I've got your pawn with me at the mo' :p

If it's an issue for other people too then I hope it's patched soon. If it's just an issue for me i'll have to try redownloading.

Blurry trees and map freezes were on the side of the river closest to Gran Soren. Regular crashes were on the other side. Both were I think about halfway along :) (Can't check because of the map crashing...)

Well thanks, I've been using Leon for most of my time in-game at this point, very helpful.

And I'm checking out the area now btw.

Thanks ^_^ I tried going there again this morning. Same issue. I might have to skip the side quest I was trying to do.

God damnit, now i've gotta decide what to play as. I always played a sorcerer back in the day. Thinking of going strider/assassin this time around.

My Amazon order in one day went from arriving on October 16th to 30th, to arriving October 10th, to Shipping Now, and now it's arriving this Saturday.

😲

Crazy!

Here's a short guide on an important yet very poorly explained aspect of the game:
INCLINATIONS AND PAWN BEHAVIOR

Pawn AI is determined by three things: active skills, the pawn's inclination (AI preset) and its beastiary knowledge. The first of the three is very self-explanatory: the pawn is only going to use skills that have been set active.

You can think of Inclination as an AI preset like you have in other RPGs such as Dragon Age or Tyranny. Your pawns initial inclination is set by how you answer the questions at the beginning of the game. After that, it changes over time and sadly cannot be locked in place. Inclinations are changed by buying elixirs at the Encampment from the guy in yellow. So if you want to make a mage that mainly heals, you can buy a medicant elixir and use that. Pawns have a main inclination, a secondary inclination (both visible in the status menu) and a third hidden inclination (that you can see by using the knowledge chair). There are a bunch of inclinations but many of them are unhelpful.

Here's a short run-down of the Inclinations:
Scather - Attacks the strongest monster, increases climbing
Challenger - Attacks ranged enemies first
Mitigator - Attacks weak enemies first
Utilitarian - Group tactics, enchants on a mage/sorceress
Medicant - Healing on a mage
Pioneer - Pawn scouts ahead of the party (e.g. fighter)

Guardian, Nexus and Acquisitor are bad inclinations in most cases, avoid those.

Here's some workable inclination examples to get you started:
Fighter - Scather/Mitigator
Warrior - Mitigator/Challenger
Strider - Scather/Challenger
Ranger - Challenger/Mitigator
Mage - Utilitarian/Medicant
Sorceress - Challenger/Utilitarian

How to set the inclination:
Buy elixirs of your choice in groups of 2. Use them in the reverse order, i.e. to get Utilitarian/Medicant first use 2 Medicant elixirs and then 2 Utilitarian elixirs. You need to close the item menu after using each elixir, it's a bit buggy.

The last aspect that affects pawn behavior is beastiary knowledge. As an example, if a mage pawn knows that saurians are weak to ice she will be more likely to cast Frazil. Utilitarian pawns tend to make more use of beastiary knowledge.

Never played the original DD when Dark Arisen wasn't around so I listened to the original menu theme that everyone was gushing about and....yeah....I'm not upset that it's gone at all. That's just me though.

Our Pawns from the PS3 version are not transferable right?

I played the original first and I agree. The original theme was dumb, it was good for a laugh but the DA one fits and sounds better.

And nop, pawns aren't transferable

Thanks, I just fixed my sorcerer to Utilitarian/Challenger. Does it matter which way it is put?

You listed Challenger/Utilitarian.

The order does change pawn behavior. I just gave some example combinations, there are many other good ones. Utilitarian/Challenger should work just fine; just emphasizes using weapon buffs more than the other way around. Speaking of weapon buffs on sorcerers/mages, the AI isn't smart enough to choose the right one for the situation. This is why it's useful to have only one buff.

Can't seem to connect to the server anymore, all the pawns load in just fine but whenever I rest at an inn, it fails to access the server and changes my settings to offline.

Really hope this is something temporary on Capcom's side.

been monkeying around with this (got to gran soren), &, while i'm absolutely, positively no kind of graphics whore, i'm seriously disappointed by how crappy the game continues to look (particularly the fog effects). i realize it's a big, open-world game, but it often looks pretty awful, in a way the ps3 version, which i deeply loved, never did. just me? :) ...

I think it's just you. Nothing here looks worse to me than the PS3 version did. Maybe the higher resolution is throwing you off. Things are sharper and draw distance is further, so you can kind of see the seams.

Go back and play the PS3 version, it's even worse. A blurry mess with borders.

This is just an old game and if like me The Witcher 3 is one of your favourite games of this generation, you're dropping to a hell of a downgrade graphically going to Dragons Dogma. Thankfully gameplay is what knocks it out of the park with this game.

I'm just starting out. I created a Mage pawn that I hope can help us slower players. I won't be able to play as often as I would like this weekend but I would appreciate any low levellers using my pawn!

PSN ID: Dua1-Blade-
Pawn name: Jade (Sara)
Gender: Female
Pawn level: 4
Pawn vocation: Mage
Additional details: Pretty much just created her. I am going for a good support Mage with some attacking spells to aid my Strider build.

Holy crap, the stash just made me a rich man and I got dressed to the nines to boot! Where did all that come from? I just started!

I'll post my pawn info and screenshot soonish. :)

Also I forgot to record my main characters setting numbers for the poster who asked so when I get the Transmutation item I'll make sure to write it down.

Dodge roll is a game changer.

It really is. And also uses zero stamina so you can roll and roll and roll! :D

Update to my pawn info:

PSN ID: KylieDog
Pawn name: Rayne
Pawn level: 34
Pawn Vocation: Sorcerer
Additional details: If you send friend request please note you from GAF as I ignore blank ones, include name if want. Will try rent all friends pawn whenever I can.

Maybe double check that you have your game set to Online in settings? If you have your game set to Offline then you won't see any connection progress/status indicator when you rest at an inn. You probably already know that, but I have a few friends who had that problem and didn't realise.

It finally works as intended, probably some capcom server troubles.

Man, i love this game even more now. Back on 360 i wasn't really aware of all the intricacies Dragon's Dogma offers. Not unlike Resident Evil 6, which i also dig much more.

Still wrapping my head on the game.

PSN ID: tiebreaker110
Pawn name: Peter
Gender: Male
Pawn level: 7
Pawn vocation: Strider

I have a video issue that's been annoying me with dark games. It hasn't been much of a problem until now (or maybe I haven't noticed it).

It's how the colours are distorted around the blacks in the sky and light from the lantern. What is this issue? TV, game, or PS4?

Set your game to brightness level 3 and reduce 5 points your tv brightness.

Also that town is known to have the worse banding in the entire game.

The rest of the World is Better .

Still you will get some banding but it will look much better.

Good luck.
