It's the stores that pop up in the list after you select a state. I was confused too, but Google lead me to Best Buy's forum, where in turn they confirmed that all stores listed on the pop-up will be doing the midnight launch.

Hopefully that means 9PM for the west coast!

How much RAM does your system have?

Trying to figure out how you'd wind up with more writes than reads if it was just a caching issue - are you recording gameplay video and then only using a fraction of it or something?

Anyway, I'll check out the stats on mine when I try it out later.

Hmph, checked my Total Host Writes on my Samsung Evo and it didn't change after 1 hour of play. That's the only thing Crystal Disk Info shows for my ssd though, so can't check hosts reads or NAND reads/writes.

Edit. My Evo has 5692 hours for Power On and 2696 GB Total Host Writes, so there is something definitely wrong with that screenshot.

So should I roll Qunari warrior/reaver or rogue/assassin?

On the one hand, Qunari's are designed better as warriors. On the other hand, I played warrior in DA2. I was rogue/duelist (human) in Origins. Plus I plan on using Iron Bull a lot if he's not annoying.

I don't want to sound bigoted, but Qunari are scum and should be executed on sight.

It's detailed when you select your race. Every race gets a bonus.

Humans: +1 Skill point
Dwarfs: +25% Magic defense
Qunari: forgot
Elf: +25% Range defense

tactical "mode" is bad because you have zero overview, no way anyone will play it with this all the time, it's just a gimmick for exceptionally dangerous situations, at best. and even then its just not optimal.

and action mode is terrible because I actually have to hold the attack button all the time when I want to attack, not even DA2 had that. speaking of which. I had no gameplay problems with DA2, I got into it immediately, nowhere as bad as DA:I.

but i haven't given up yet, I play it on normal like a fantasy mass effect. the tactical AI options are very limited, too btw.

they need to fix two things immediately: a better zoom for the tactical view and an auto attack for the controlled character. but even then it would be very, very far from DA:O gameplay.

The first 5-6 gigs are downloaded upfront along with the patch to 1.01. Once those are installed the other 40 gigs are downloaded in the back ground. I completed 30 gigs in 8 hours before I went to sleep last night. When I woke up this morning the full download had been completed.

So yeah, start your download now and you'll deginitely be able to play at 9:00 pm, PST, even if the full file isn't complete.

Smash Bros 3DS had 1st day patch.
Pokémon X and Y had 1st day Western patch to solve a game breaking bug.
WiiU had a 1st day firmware update that took over an hour to download.

AMD only for now. They said it was going to be open source later on, or something, and that if Nvidia wanted to use it, they could.

So how can you tell if a Best buy is having a midnight launch for the game? Is it basically all the stores that are listed in the drop down menu when you select your state? Or does that just show all the Best Buy's regardless of events? I tried clicking on my specific local store, and didn't see anything about a midnight launch

I just called my Best Buy and they are doing midnight launch. They said as long as your location pops up as one of the options when you scroll after selecting your state, they are participating.

Dammit, they released the Red Lyrium Quest that allows you to get extra gear. Now the OCD completionist in me is going to need to play this first when I get home before I start my game so I can have all the extra gear.
