Any chance of it ever releasing? D:

I hear it may be on iTunes late this week or sometime next week.

Huh, so the Director of Marketing is present in the very thread where I said some not nice things about their latest trailer, they were especially proud of. Whoops.

If it helps, I bought the game and am excited to finally play it! (9 hours, whooha! So glad I can go to bed in a few so when I wake up, tada, gaming time. 8))

lol - yours was the first comment I read about the trailer *anywhere* and it did kinda hit me hard, but then I saw tons of love for it on Youtube and other posts/FB etc so I feel better :D I even quoted your post at a Studio meeting when I was showing everyone the trailer today!

Oh wow, So it looks like one should probably watch a cinema video of DA2's DLC (which I did), because it seems it seems to set up that

SPOILERS!
the Antagonist Corypheus in that one is returning in a big way.

I'm ok with this. He had a pretty awesome voice actor :)

Which one?

I only read the overview for DA2 and dont know much about the characters

I figured I knew enough at this point between Kotaku's, Shinobi's and other various posts that helped explain relations and history

But I glossed over DA2 characters...

Is playing before the full download actually the full game with all of its contents just only the first few hours are available or is it some stripped down "arena" or "practice" mode or whatever.
I'm not sure. But I'd guess you'd at least be able to play through the intro (at least 1 hour) and some of the first area of the game.

How can you tell how much is downloaded? after the first 5-6 finish I can't see any way to tell :s

Highlight the game in the menu bar, click the the options button and choose information.

after a few hours, I just cant get used to the controls.
tactical "mode" is bad because you have zero overview, no way anyone will play it with this all the time, it's just a gimmick for exceptionally dangerous situations, at best. and even then its just not optimal.

and action mode is terrible because I actually have to hold the attack button all the time when I want to attack, not even DA2 had that. speaking of which. I had no gameplay problems with DA2, I got into it immediately, nowhere as bad as DA:I.

but i haven't given up yet, I play it on normal like a fantasy mass effect. the tactical AI options are very limited, too btw.

they need to fix two things immediately: a better zoom for the tactical view and an auto attack for the controlled character. but even then it would be very, very far from DA:O gameplay.

Wait a minute what, there has to be an option for that, right? Is there no auto-attack or single-press attack for action mode?

Anyone? This is a kind of Day 1 make it or break it for me.

Is nightmare really as difficult as it's sounding? I really want a challenge but I don't want to get 1 shotted everytime I go into battle.

HDD stats after 40mins of playing.

To be honest, that doesn't look too bad (34GB) even if it were because of denuvo which I doubt. SSDs endure multiple 100s of TBs.

Pretty sure they stated multiple times before that it was the case and was intended, your char autoattacks in tactical view but in action mode you're supposed to attack yourself, probably to feel more involved since everything else is cooldown based and it'd be kinda boring.

Not to be rude, but there is a PC Performance thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=930631

Could all the PC talk about FPS and drivers and everything else go in there so we can talk about the game itself? Past few pages have been annoyingly cluttered with PC performance talk when there is a thread specifically dedicated to that.

I was just going to say this. Kind of annoying seeing a bunch of PC talk on here when I'm sure people would rather see discussions about the game itself.

At least you could return the favor, now I feel bad. :D Welp, that was not my intend by any means. My opinion is my opinion of course, but still. Glad for you guys anyone else liked it though!

The Legacy DLC.

I advise everyone not to go into Legacy DLC exclusive character descriptions in the DA wiki, some smart ass left some high caliber unmarked/unhidden spoilers in one of them.

Seriously, I'm still baffled I had one important DA:I plot point spoiled because of it.

Specifically don't read the wiki page on (don't highlight if you want to go completely fresh into the game)
Corypheus.

Well that's dumb since I enjoyed DA2 more with auto-attack even though it had cooldowns and no tactical cam. Although that may have also been because of the 2-frame-animations lol. But then I guess that brings me to my next questions, which is if the action mode's attack is a "Press A for Awesome" sorta thing, or a "Hold Down A for Awesome" sorta thing. The former would be preferred.

I'm at work and reading about the disk usage plus the no auto attack except in tactical mode but oh tactical mode works best with a controller makes me not want to play the game now. They won't fix this day one.

The disk usage thing is not real. Another user gave his SSD stats and they barely change while the game is running.

I have the game downloaded on my PS4. I am ready to play it when I get back from work today. I am even taking tomorrow off to get some more gaming in. I'm still vascillating between an elven archer and human warrior. I'll probably go with the former just get the more interesting reactions from NPCs.

I seriously don't understand why auto-attack isn't an option in action mode, they got flak for not having it in DA2 day one and here they already have it programmed in, it's silly to restrict options.

It's a shame that PC M+KB users are having a tough time with the tactical cam, but I gotta say, it really does help with tougher encounters. Definitely not "useless", even if it is unwieldy..

you can choose to either mash the attack button or hold the attack button

I'm a few minutes in and it's already apparent that this game wasn't made for KB/m. Which is too bad as an infinity engine or Dragon Age: Origins style camera and control scheme would be so much better than this is with either a controller or KB/m.

But my hard drive keeps going to 100% every five seconds with the game running causing the game to lock up for that period unless I put it in borderless full-screen, which it still happens but at least it wasn't locking up the game.

Got this pre-ordered and ready to play at 9 p.m. Pacific! Very excited for it, but also kind of not sure if I want to dive in immediately since I'm still working my way through Unity and also leveling up my character in Warlords of Draenor.

Too many massive games all at once!

oh and the origin achievement sound has to be the most annoying notification I have ever heard. and the only thing I found when googling was an EA employee confirming that it cant be turned off.
damn, this game makes it really hard for me to like it.

And it's the same attack speed I'm assuming? And I'm still hoping for auto-attack to be in that Day 1 patch...

the tutorial at least didnt say it influenced attack speed.
personally, I wished I could at least aim like in mass effect. but like this, its just dumb.

Yeah, it's kind of stupid. Isn't the attack button R on PC? Sounds like strafing to the right would be a pain in the ass while attacking since I'm holding R with my index finger.

Maybe they'll patch it in.

That sounds pretty bad. Something like Process Monitor should be able to help you and see what's going on there.

You can also hold down the mouse button.

Dammit, they released the Red Lyrium Quest that allows you to get extra gear. Now the OCD completionist in me is going to need to play this first when I get home before I start my game so I can have all the extra gear.

Hopefully it won't take too long but this is going to shave an hour or two of my anticipated playing tonight.

Won't even take you an hour. You basically watch the character youtube vid and click on mist that appears at certain times during the vid to unlock all three keys for each character. You can even go back to certain parts in case you missed the click.

and just because I feel ranting, some more issues:

my mouse buttons are not all recognized by the game, it's not like the biggest AAA release of the year of one of the biggest publishers out there should have that, no.

side quests are so damn lazy. come one. you talk to a gain, he says "a friend of mine went looking for apostates" and THAT'S IT, no firther dialogue, not even an "I'll do it buddy, no problem". no, one sentence and the questmarker pops up on the map. not that I would have expected him to give ACTUAL DIRECTIONS, but damn.

and enemies seem to spawn completely randomly on the map. I just dispatched a group of bandits, quicksaved. quickloaded and a completely differently composed group of bandits was behind me.

But they aren't playing before the "actual release." People who actually live in countries like South Korea could be playing right now without any trickery.
Because it wasn't obvious that I meant "before the Day 1 Patch and before Bioware even tries to address some early issues" for the game. You're just playing semantics. If a person goes to play it knowing good and well that many of the problems will be fixed soon instead of now, they sure shouldn't be stupid enough to forget that entirely.

tbh it just sounds like you're salty that people are playing it early
I'm sure many are telling themselves that to dismiss my comments.

Looking for some more people to play multiplayer with on PS4, going to play it tonight after I get it at the midnight launch tonight.

PSN id is Xevren11 just leave a message saying you're from GAF.

So in deciding on what class to choose I want to know some info on the party characters. I am between warrior or mage, leaning toward mage. The way I see it my character will always be in the party so I need to choose a class I always want in my team and want multiple of, that is usually mage.

But if the party members cover all the best mage classes then maybe I go knight. So my question is to those that know the partner specialties what is a good class to specialize in where there won't be big overlap.

We don't know they'll be fixed soon. For all we know, the patch was included in the preload. It's not a given that the mythical "day 1 patch" will only be available when the game releases in North America, despite the game being available in other regions before the North American release time.

I just got the tutorial on levelling up my character and it says "Some features on this screen are currently unavailable". I'm online, so that shouldn't be a problem right? I have 2 skill points to spend (Human) and it's not letting me pick any abilities.

EDIT: think I found the problem. It kept me in an "in combat" state even when there was nothing around, even after everything was dead. My guy had his weapon out since getting it and I thought that was odd. I reloaded a save and he put his weapon away and I could level up.

Mage guys! Mages are fun as fuck slinging those spells and you always feel more meaningful to the plot because of the templar vs mage storyline.

What's the consensus on the MP? The reviews don't seem to focus too much on it. I'm more interested in the MP that I'll be playing with friends and probably will play SP if no one is online.

Has some snappy bright young thing uncovered console commands yet for changing character appearance? After the title-screen movie my hair colour changed from black to brown and now doesn't match my face tattoo. :p
