Dragon Age: Origins |OT| Letting The Fade fade out of memory

I'm healer spec and quite enjoying it. I'm going for the all creation spells achievement just because. Wards are great for CC. Word of advice, there are guides that say you Wynne teachers you the spirit healer spec. She doesn't. You
buy it from a book in Denerim
(minor spoiler, but just in case). The group heal you get from spirit healer spec is great, I'd go for the specialisation as soon as you hit level 7.
My wrynne has group heal already >.>!

ii) Zevran: betrayed me in the city, showed up wearing underwear and a bow, b/c i stripped party members for money if i wasnt using them. Offered him the chance to walk away after laughing hysterically in my room about some numpty attacking me in a pair of tighty whities. He declined, so I butchered him and left him lying in the street bleeding.

This is the second time I've heard this.
What happens that causes him to betray you? He was loyal to me to the end in my game.

Maybe because I never used him, maybe because I didn't talk to him in camp, maybe because he felt insulted that I made him walk around in his underwear for 25 hours or so.

Wynne does, but she won't teach it to anyone.
I read soemwhere else that she will only teach you things after you recruit all the armies.

Maybe she has some extra tricks up her sleeve, but she doesn't teach the spirit healer spec.

How long until I get Wynn? This no dedicated healer stuff is driving me mad...

I'm current at.. (red cliffe spoiler)
at the top of the tower, but have decided to meet with the mages to enter the fade instead of doing the other options

I want a healer =(

Whenever you do the Circle of Magi part. If you're not playing a healer yourself it's probably a good place to start, even though the game seems to push you towards Redcliffe.

really enjoying this game, apart from
the fucking fade! im in the burning tower or some shit and have been for the last 30 boring fucking minutes. how long does this go on for? do i have to go to all the areas?

I never did finish that other quest involving exploring the Keep, and now that the Drydens have taken it over, I can't go back in! Oh well.

Hah, me too. Now I'm gonna have the "Premium Content" tab stuck there for the rest of the game. :lol

Finished it, fucking GOTY right here, easily.

Bioware am gods. The music, the amount of content, the gameplay, the characters, etc pfff

so... I think I fucked up -- Im human noble rogue, wanting to specialise as an assassin, however, I
killed the assassin Zevran (spelling?).
Is there another way? Like a tome to read or something? I don't want to start again haha. If what I did doesn't change anything, don't tell me how! just that all is not lost, I'll figure it out.

How much of the game is left after recruiting all the armies? I kinda figured that'd be most of the game. The recruiting armies thing reminds me a lot of Morrowind where you have to do something to prove yourself to all the tribes or whatever.

I am sure there is a book somewhere, just is a matter of finding out where it is located.
I killed Wynne, and then found the book to become a Spirit Healer

:lol I think Oghren is my new favorite character.
+3 approval for getting a prostitute at The Pearl!
. :lol

Yeah, he's my favorite as well. The party dialog between him and the other characters is hilarious.

Is there anything sold at Orzimar (sp?) that you can't get elsewhere? I don't want to trigger the event to leave the place until I've gotten everything that I can only get here.

I noticed the merchant sells some recipes. Are those recipes sold elsewhere or only at him?

Depends on how much side-questing you do. After you have all four armies you go to Denerim, and there's a shit ton of sidequests to do. But if you went there earlier just to wander around (like I did), and then did a bunch of the sidequests, so all thats left is main quest, its not much. Basically some fooling around in the city and then a final dungeon run to go kill the archdemon with your armies. I'd say maybe 10% of the game.

This game makes time disappear like its nothing. I'm really starting to get used to the controls in the 360 version now. It's strange saying this but its kind of hard going from Mass Effect's radial menu to the one Dragon Age has. It may not seem like much a difference at first but it takes a while to get used to. It's kind of annoying having to hold down the trigger to queue up commands. You would think the toggle option wouldn't unpause itself after each command. It would be cool if they could patch that considering it seems like an oversight anyway.

Jesus Fuck, Bioware. AUTO SAVE SHOULD OCCUR EVERY TIME YOU GO TO A LOCATION. NOT JUST AFTER CUTSCENES YOU PIECES OF SHITS.
I lost an hour and 3 side quests yesterday, PITA :(

It autosaves before bosses too, but ya it doesn't autosave quite enough.

Thank god I've got a problem with saving. I save literally before and after everything.

I'm playing on Easy now so I'm not worried. It autosaves before bosses and that's all that's threatening anymore. At least early in the game.

Just out of curiosity, if I have a pc that can run the minimum specs (and I mean the MINIMUM specs) and a 360, which should I get? And, does the 360 version have Bioware's trademark slowdown and pop-in with ridiculous numbers of glitches (not that it'll stop me from buying it)?

Apparently the game isn't very glitchy, but there is some pop-in and slowdown on console although it's worse on the PS3 (but has better textures).

You should be specific with your specs.

Dusty internals of a PC contribute to base heat going up? What to do in prevention of this? A humidifier?

Dust can clog fans, thus the air flow becomes restricted. Use a vacuum cleaner and/or canned air to clean out your case on a regular basis. Also, if your GFX card is running hot, you might want to look into after-market cooling solutions and and/or adding extra fans to your case.

Honestly, NWN2 traumatized me into saving, not only quick saves, but regular saves every time I enter a new area. That game had so many problems at launch, I had lost 3 entire playthroughs through simple save corruption.

I still haven't beat it, MotB or SoZ. :\

To me, the fact that Dragon Age hasn't imploded my saves impresses me greatly.

Make sure if you used canned air, you don't have the spray nozzle closer than 2 inches from anything or else the pressure might be so much it actually pushes dust into circuits.

As for after-market cooling, it is never necessary unless you're overclocking hard.

f5 quicksave is so speedy, I have no idea why you wouldn't save after everything anyway.

I'm 35 hours in and still loving it. I have been amazed at how well balaned money is in this game. Usually in an rpg, money becomes worthless part way in and you can buy anything and everything. But even after 35 hours I'm still broke :(

I'm used to NWN/2 as well. I was literally AMAZED I could run this max a week after release. Such a nice engine :lol

That said, some of these battles on normal can be ROUGH. If that shitty merc mage had lit me on fire one more time, I might have actually killed him myself.

The 360 versions runs rather well, though I won't say it doesn't carry the same graphics "issues" as any other Bioware game.

If your PC can handle the game, then I'd say the question of which version to buy comes down to controls (gamepad vs. mouse + keyboard) and the ability to mod the PC version.

From what I gather, the PS3 version has a pretty lousy average framerate, so I think I'm going to get the PC version.

I think Dragon Age uses 4 rotating auto-saves along with as many manual saves that you want. Each character gets it's own set of auto-saves. This system is excellent, as auto-save is poorly implemented in most other games. They generally have just 1 that is shared across all profiles/characters or they create a new autosave every time causing clutter.

Back when Oblivion came out, 20 hours in and my save folder was over 400 mb.

Just a heads up.. dont install the 1.01 patch if you havent already. Some people are having issues with save game corruption. i make it policy to almost never patch a game while in the middle of a run.

ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuck

Just lost 500 silver to this lady by giving it to her for safe travel to Denerim. I thought I was making her pay me 500 in order to escort her there :(

500 silver? I thought 100 silver = 1 gold. Why wouldn't she say 5 gold?

This reminds me of a great bit (spoilers for minor interaction near end of game):

Going into the alienage, I noticed a beggar, a veteran. Seeing that I was from the alienage, I decided to be generous and give him a gold coin. Yay, good deed. Then some other beggars ask me for money too. Okay. When I came back half the damn town was camped out to beg money from me with some hilariously half-hearted sob stories.

Howd Morrigan take that one? :lol

I'm at Redcliffe Castle
Choice to kill the demons in Connor
or
Kill the damn soldiers in the other room to retrieve the mother's amulet?

Choice 1 was easier but I want to do the other but I don't want to turn down Hard Difficulty just to get through. Bah. I need more money to buy better armor for my tanks.

So it's confirmed that there is no level cap? I'm at lvl 20 and havn';t even started the main quest yet. I've just been doing side quests for 5 days straight.
