Why is this game launching two weaks early on the xbox platform? xbox owners dont buy games anyway... maybe it's for bugtesting or something? But dont you need players for that?

Disagree. RTAO can add a lot of depth to scenes and can make a big difference

4K 30 upscaled on a Ryzen 9 7950x and RTX 4080, looking way worse than any of the best looking games in past 2 years, fucking lol.
And apparently can't play anything than Low 1080p 30, again upscaled, because I have a Ryzen 5600x, thanks so much.

I was gonna give Bioware another go as I'm a big Dragon Age fan, but this game can just fuck off and die, what a fucking joke.

However the content is a very much Modern Audience game. So wins on technical level and losses on everything else.

Exactly the same complaint about ME2 before release: ‘It’s dumbing down the RPG elements’, ‘it’s cutting out the exploration’…yet it’s widely considered the best of the bunch.

As you prepare for October 31st, please find the preload times for each platform below. Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t include any 3rd party DRM (such as Denuvo) on any platform. The lack of DRM means that there will be no preload period for PC players.
  • PC: No preload, the game will be downloadable and playable on launch day October 31st, 9AM PDT
Just bought this on Steam!
Surprised they ditched the EA app, have they announced plans to phase that out?
Would also like to know how long this has been the case? Did they see the writing on the wall, or did blunders from some the other player scare them into this approach (UbiSoft).

The reality might just be that EA believes this needs every ounce of help it can get to move copies...which is probably what is actually going on here.

I preorder it on PS5 a while ago...will check out those sweet sweet pro upgrades (/s probably)

I'm lost at everything being queer purple, that's a big nope from me especially considering DA: Origins is one of the best games ive ever played.

Twisted gender ideology agenda narrative being push. I will not buy this game for my ps5 slim and even if they gave it for free, I will not take it.

Pretty wild a new dragon age is coming out and there's zero hype anywhere.
Bad marketing the entire way.

1)First trailer on a big stage was simply a logo reveal.
2)Second trailer reveal was the main character and two companions traveling down a city painted in purple and getting into a fight and a small dialogue snippet before cutting to a logo
3)Third trailer on a big stage (Xbox showcase)was essentially a music video snippet showing off the new cast of characters.
4)Finally, they revealed more snippets of gameplay on Xbox’s aftershow (which has a fraction of their showcase audience) but it wasn’t enough to get a grasp of how it played.
5)Lastly, they showed a random mage character, dragon boss fight, during Sony’s Pre-TGS/Post PS5 Pro-reveal State of Play. The footage still barely showed or explained much and left me confused.

Keep in mind, this is all much worse if, like me, you never played a Dragon Age game while looking at all of it. I didn’t know wtf I was looking at. The boring option for me would be to make fun of it and dislike it like everyone else here, so I decided to look around for more info instead.

I honestly didn’t care about this franchise until recently, and the one thing that convinced me to finally give the Dragon Age series a chance was recently seeing random clips of Mass Effect-like gameplay from random youtubers who played the demo at gamescom (if I remember correctly that was the event). The embargo lifted and they were able to explain the game and series perfectly for a Mass Effect fan like myself.

Thanks to them, I went from ‘wtf is this’ to ‘this looks kind of cool and I’m interested, so I’ll try out the franchise while I wait on reviews for this one’.

tl;dr youtubers are doing a better job at explaining this game’s strengths and it has all been like that moment when Digital Foundry did better marketing for the PS5 Pro than multi-billion business Sony themselves.

Try RTAO in Midnight Suns. It's just as worthless for a sizeable hit in performance. RTGI or bust.

Fully agree. RTAO adds way too many shadows and just 500% increases they're range when there shouldnt be any, It looks anything but realistic.

However the content is a very much Modern Audience game. So wins on technical level and losses on everything else.

Outside of character creator and the ugly ass Quanari, we know nothing else in regards to how woke it is. Im also going day one on this, my man Varric and Solas wait for me.

Now that I’ve been playing the series I have a quick question about this. How did the Qunari go from looking like Sten and that one merchant guy in DA:O (giant humanlike race with gray skin color and red eyes/white hair) to a creature-like race with horns on their heads?

I don’t mind the spoiler tags if needed.

There are no lore reasons for the change. I guess when they made Origins, they simply wanted the Qun to look like humans, just like the elfs were no different except pointy ears. Simply an artistic choice for the change in DA2, just like Flemeth went from an old ugly granny to a hot GILF in the second game.

Interesting, makes me think back on if they did something like this from Mass Effect 1 to 2.

Do you think this new design is them attempting to merge the humanlike ones from origins and the horned ones from 2 as one design? Or did we just see a half-breed in that preview footage?

Who did they change from ME1 to 2? I dont remember anything as major.

I have no idea what theyre doing with the Qunari in Veilguard. The Qunari are made to be dragon slayers hence their bodies should reflect that, though just like Sten, there are hornless Qunari amidst them and I remember something from maybe DA2 that they mentioned anyone can be part of the Qun, therefore I guess cross-breeding might be possible. Dunno. Doesnt really matter, their designs were perfect as is in DA2 and Inquisition. I hate everything about how they look in Veilguard.

It's not surprising, Bioware is long gone, it's just the name, it's like emptying a bottle of Cola and replacing it with water, colour and sugar.

I was a big fan of Dragon Age and a massive one of Mass Effect, to this day ME3 and ME Andromeda remain the only games I pre ordered, but this one doesn't smell good.
The development started in 2015 and it went through multiple restarts and reworks, one of them having a live service component with veterans leaving left and right, a shitshow.

On top of that, everyone remembers the not so good Andromeda and the disaster named Anthem.

if EA believes ditching their trash app will push more copies, that can only be positive (also happens to be correct)

I have yet to play through Origin and Inquisition.

At what point did they go full DEI? :(

This game. We will find out the full extent of it once the game gets in the hands of the customers. I doubt the reviewers will talk about it.
