Dragon Age : Veilguard reached 1.5 million players, 50% less than EA's expectations

Didn't find a thread about it. Paywalled article, but here is the relevant part :
The roleplaying game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which came out in October following a turbulent development cycle, reached 1.5 million players during the quarter, missing the company's expectations by around 50%.

I guess, since they say "reached", it must include EA Pass numbers, which would then point to overall sales to be pretty low. EA had an objective of 3 millions sales up until now it seems, and some estimations guessed that rentability would start somewhere between 4-5 millions.

So yeah, the game flopped. Send a tweet to Jason Schreier :messenger_savoring:

Who could have guessed. It's not even just the woke stuff. Even people like me, i was super pumped for a new dragon age and immediately lost interest when they showed the trailer.

Yeah, same. huge series fan, everything I saw turned me off.

lol I caught later that he's also the one who wrote this very same article

More surprised though that also EA Sports 25 did badly. Fucking finally!

As chuds we really got dunked on.

Taking the focus off Solas and making this Dungeons and Dragon Age as well as the hybrid art style killed interest

3 million expectations is beyond generous when you consider the last entry sold what, 14 Million? And they were 50% short there! Hearing Bioware employees are being scattered to different teams, I have to believe Mass Effect 5 might be toast.

50k is breaking chart?

There is this new Exodus game coming up. I mean Bioware is nearly already replaced by Larian. There is only a Mass Effect replacement missing. And than EA can put Bioware onto their huge dev studio graveyard.

Ngl, the more they show Exodus off, the less I am interested. It looks and feels like "we have Mass Effect at home" with Wizard of the Coasts' DEI policies sprinkled over it. But who knows, maybe in comparison to Mass Effect 5, it will be like gold.

There was nothing to pick up in the game.

Nothing,...just healing potions...the crafting was super bb, everything from the previous entries that I liked was just gone or turned into a much worse version of previous game's systems/mechanics.

Easily the most disappointing release last year for me as I was looking forward to more DA:I type exploration.

Ok, what the fuck is going on with these estimates? There's a difference of > 2 million between the top and bottom sources.

wtf.

That's normal for the Steam estimates using 3rd party tools. The actual number is probably around 500k to 600k going by the history of those estimates for other games when the actual sales number is known

Okay, I see....didnt know WotC is owning that thing. :messenger_neutral:

"Reached 1.5 million players" doesn't necessarily mean sold to that many but I don't think it was on anything like Gamepass so why not say sold to 1.5 million?
