Apologies if this has been done before, but seeing as I'm nearly done with story mode I was wondering if you all could give suggestions on making a Namekian ki blaster work.
I was thinking about going full into ki blast, and partially into health/basic. Using supers to finish off combos or fire big ults.
Any ideas of some good supers to use while comboing? Worth considering kaioken/poses?
I'm not good at brainstorming builds in these types of games, so it helps getting some feedback.
To support a sort of "melee blaster" build, you need the right kind of Z-soul, preferrably any that lets you recover Ki quickly. Androids have plenty of nice ones for that. The "Bwahaha" named souls either give large amounts of ki when you use melee attacks or when you are damaged. Then the Android 17 and 18 z-souls usually give passive ki regeneration. If you can generate sufficient Ki for your purposes without the need for a Charge ability, you can open up a super slot for something else.
And if you're going to get Kaioken, you want to have high stamina. Doesn't look like you're concentrating on that much, so your Kaioken use is going to be a bunch of short sessions where you deal ~10-15% extra damage (and free escapes/vanishes with x20) with the risk that an offense gone bad will put you in a horrible defenseless state immediately. You'd need to be much better with stamina upkeep and management, and I'd say it's not worth it for you.
A single pose setup could work. Maybe the super armor pose, whichever that was, you could use that to brute force through enemy melee a little and land a few confirming hits that combo into a super. It'll be a series of mudfights but keeping your skirmishes short and sweet and explosive
could give you an edge.
However, if you've thought about high damage combo extenders, Android 18's taught Power Blitz does the trick. Comes out insanely fast and flinches the enemy but does not smack them away, and if they've teleported behind you, Power Blitz will usually track and hit them there too.
For ki blasts to combo with, Milky Blast(super) is a great shield against medium ki blasts and can be used as a giant floating mine with adjustable range(Depending on how long you hold it, it doesn't take longer to shoot though). It fires fast enough that it can be used with everything and it's always fun to set up a milky blast and knock someone into it with a physical combo, you can get this move by being trained by captain ginyu.
Milky Cannon is a great skill and I've seen some people deliberately aim it
away from the enemy, so if the enemy tries to rush you in melee range, you've basically armed your own body with a bomb because the Milky Cannon will track and go through your character model and hit the opponent mid-attack. Clever trick, basically like a melee trap.
Another skill that's decent as combo finisher is Finish Buster. Even if you've sent someone flying away with a knockback, Finish Buster travels so quick that it'll catch them more often than not. Pretty good damage too from my experience.
An ultimate I don't have that is outright overpowered is Super Electric strike. It has insane range, is incredibly difficult to dodge, and does pretty damn good damage to boot. The only way to dodge it is to start rising or falling the moment it gets shot or to use a teleport dodge/evasive the moment it gets shot/hits you(No way to dodge horizontally due to the fact that it has 180 degree coverage), but when players shoot it there's no audio cue as to when that is.
The closer an enemy is, the more dangerous SES tends to be, yes. It is a huge crescent shape projectile but lacks tracking, so flying away before descending or ascending will help it whiff. Unless you've had the SES animation almost memorized, then you can dash-vanish over and behind the enemy the moment they start swinging their green charged arms. Block-vanish might work too, haven't tried that much but I'd reckon that right in front of enemy's face you could dodge it that way
