Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

So, about six months now? No word of DDO in the west.

I fully stand by my initial statements concluding that the PC port of Dragon's Dogma was to get westerners to stop asking for DDO, on the assumption that western interest in DDO was it being a Dragon's Dogma game on PC.

...And honestly, that was guess for why people were hyped for DDO - Because it was Dragon's Dogma... On PC.

Finished this game yesterday night. Honestly, this is one of the GOAT action RPGs. Took me 64h for all achievements.

I did this a couple weeks after the game came out and instantly started a new game on a 2nd Steam account. I only played a couple hours before I decided I needed to move on with my life but I always think about going back and doing it all over from the beginning.

After you play thru half a dozen NG+ and hit level 200 on the same character is jarring going back to the beginning as a level 1 character and remembering how god damned hard the game is at the start.

i never expected ddo in the west. capcom can barely keep itself afloat in 1 country, no way they would localize a mmo

Just "beat" the game (I think you all will know what I mean.) with a Magic Archer (Rotated between Sorc, Ranger, and MA) character... Wasn't entirely happy with how my playstyle was.

Going to restart and roll with a melee focused character this time like in my original abandoned run. Think I'll go with Artoria and Shirou again like that time. Warrior was fun, and Healer Shirou meant I didn't have to constantly hunt down Mage pawns that were properly set up for my tastes.

As for why I abandoned my original run, it had been several months and I lost attachment. Kinda regret that now. I think I rushed through this run TBH, but I just wasn't feeling this character.

I must commend this game though - This is the only JRPG to ever put me through Rerollitis. That's an honor normally reserved for WRPGs.

Are there any cons to sticking to certain pawns for a longer amount of time? I started the game few days ago (about 12h in and I love it!) and recruited two Pawns that belong to my Steam friends: a 30+lvl warrior and a 25+lvl mage. And since they have higher level then mine (about 15lvl), and people who they belong to will probably still play the game (and discover new monsters/quest), I see no real reason to change them.

I don't think there is any reason to change either. However, when you get over their levels, they will become useless so you will have to release them then hire them again. By then their masters have changed their classes and they won't be compatible with your setup anymore.

Is there a way to get this game to run on an Asus Transformer t100 tablet? I always see comments that this game can run on a toaster. I lowered all the specs I could fine but its still chugging. It feels like it's almost there. Now I do have 3 very capable PC's that can run this but my tablet is the most portable. I got Skyrim running on it at a playable speed so I assumed this would be possible. I don't know enough about the ini file to make changes to it.

Are you FREAKING kidding me? I've tried to complete speed run mode twice now. The first time, I got a bad ending because I chose a decision I've never chosen before and the second time I died fighting the motherfudging dragon at the very end of the goshdarn game because I failed the flippin' QTE. No redo. No retry. No wakestone. Forget it, you lose.

IT WOULDN'T BE SO BAD IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO SIT THROUGH A FIFTEEN MINUTE ESCORT MISSION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME EACH TIME I WANTED TO ATTEMPT THIS. It only takes an hour to get to the end but man. What kind of mess is it that you're screwed if you fail a QTE?

edit: *whew* Okay, I think I handled that better than expected.

Would someone be willing to help me recover my pawn's abilities? I had to restart due to a corrupted save.

But I have not reuploaded the pawn so if someone hires my pawn before I upload the new char and then releases her after I do so I should get her stars back at least.

I will be messing around for a couple hours so please post here and I will Steam friend you if you would like to help.

EDIT - I received help. Hopefully it works. Thanks.

Thanks, new issue though.

I stopped playing a while back and came back. I found one dude for darkness and one shot him. I don't remember who've I killed as clicking on map tells me I need to go to arnst castle or something. The circles are yellow that I can see. What do I need to do?

It looks like you need to enter the Witchwood.

Weird considering the quest hasn't updated to say I killed the four and from a yt video of locations none are in witchwood. =(

Turns out the quest wasn't showing me where to go and I just ran to places. Completed!

Now my issue is Suppliers Demand, I think I gave the gold idol to the dude. What to do?

You give the silver one or the bronze one to Madeline. You cannot get two real gold ones in one playthrough unless someone gifts you one via the pawn system.

Experiencing a weird issue in the Everfall. I've only seen one other mention of it and it was on the GameFAQs board for the PS3 version with no replies.

Each time I enter the Everfall I get a cutscene of my character landing on a platform, regardless of how I enter. This happens even when using the door in the Pawn Guild. When I fall down, the game freaks out and won't let me land with R2. My character freezes in place and edges forward.

I'm a new player (thanks to the Capcom Steam sale). Just maxed out my first vocation, Strider. What's the recommended next step?

Switch to another vocation, and feel free to switch between vocations on the fly. Don't worry too much about stat growth. Min-maxing is beyond unnecessary in this game, gear and upgrades are far more important.

If you prefer to focus on melee abilities, Warrior has some good passive Augments like Clout, you can equip that on any vocation and it improves your melee damage. So you can switch to fighter or warrior and learn those augments at least.

Probably best to look up stat growth also.
It never hurts to take a peek at the underlying systems...

...but this is 100% correct. The ease with which you can switch vocations is one of the best things about this game, and min/maxing is completely unnecessary (and will only make the game less fun to play).

Do you have an end point in mind?
For example, I started as a Mage, and wanted to end up as Mystic Knight, so I maxed out both magic vocations, then both strength vocations, and then settled on Mystic Knight.

I'd personally recommend levelling up the second yellow vocation next, but that's just me. Unless you're gonna end up with a magic involved vocation, I'd probably leave levelling those up until you've done the yellow and red vocations though.

Enjoy this time. When you level up more and upgrade your gear this game gets too easy and you'll yearn for the times when fighting a cyclops felt epic.

Started playing this after buying it during the sale. Played the OG on 360 years ago but got distracted by other stuff 10+ hours in and never got back into the game.

So far, I am about 15 - 20 hours in and having a great time. Started mage then sorceror and now switching it up as a Strider.

What's the deal with Sorceror spells requiring so much Stamina? It's not bad enough that you need to spend so much time standing still to charge the spells but you can't cast more than two spells in a row without getting immobilized from your Stamina bar depleting?

So I accidentally went to the Bitterblack Isle and I have two questions:
- can I leave the area and return there at any time?
- how the hell can I beat Death without dying or loosing one of my Pawns? I just recruited a Pawn for ~800RC (he was 2-3 levels higher than me) and then during the Death fight he died almost instantly and went back to the void :/

Yes, the woman that took you there can take you back to that village. Or use your infinite ferry stone.

It's best to fight death solo.

Spells cost a lot of stamina and as a Sorc you gain very little stam per level so it's definitely a good idea to try out some different classes to build up your stam and hp. Also one of your best moves as a Sorc is the basic Focused Attack, especially with Holy Affinity, super strong and homing. You can also buy an infinite amount of mushrooms in Gran Soren. The high level Sorc spells are super powerful and therefore cost a ton of mana.

I just finished the Wyrm Hunt quests and have finished almost all the sidequests to this point. Now I see another slew of side quests opening up and reading through the Wiki, most of these are such a chore with poor rewards. Should I just skip most of them (thinking of just doing the Idol ones, Metal Golem for the sorc staff and Witchwood for port crystal) and try to finish up the main game so I can reach postgame asap?

Ho much better is the PC version? I absolutely loved this game (one of the few games I platinumed) and bought both DD and DD:DA for full price on console. I have a hankering to play it again, but is the PC version worth paying the $30 for or should I wait for a sale (missed the Capcom Steam sale 2 weeks ago).

You're lucky, it's currently 46% off on GMG if you log in.
And yes, the PC version is fantastic.

I'd say probably wait for a sale since you already bought it twice, but it's definitely worth it. I tried to go back to the PS3 version just for kicks the other day and I couldn't believe I used to find it playable haha. A blurry mess and the framerate (even when nothing was happening, I was just chilling at the BBI entrance) was sluggish as hell.

The PC version is amazing, my PC sucks and it still ran really well and you can tweak it to mute the pawns (I soooo did that) and mod it as you please too.

Much better imo. Being able to play the game at a steady, smooth framerate improves the game drastically.

Skip the notice board quests and do the rest imo.

The pc version is like a different game. I bought it on ps3 and i literally could not play it from the terrible framerate So its wasted money.

The game is currently 46% off via a promotion over at Green Man Gaming. Had to sign in to see the updated price as part of some email promo.

Anyone who doesn't own this yet, $16 is an excellent price to jump in (Hell the game was worth it even when I bought back back years ago on PS3 for $60)

Just got to Gran Soren (about level 14 at the moment) and I am back in love with this game. For those in the early game, message me on STEAM or GAF and I would be glad to rent your pawn (steam account name is the same as my GAF name)!

One thing I dislike about the game is curative items in inventory. There's no visual system to quickly say which one does what, there's no sorting/grouping option. So each time I need to cure poison, blindness or any other special condition, I have to scroll through each item, reading their descriptions. :/

I just killed the Metal Golem in the Witchwood quest and also did the Wyrmking Ring quest where I kept getting slaughtered by enemy Rangers with longass range and damage on their bows until I decided to cheese them with my own long range bow skills.

I was using an Assassin in those quests but given that I intend to revert to Sorceror soon, how the hell are you supposed to finish those quests if you're a Mage or Sorc? The Metal Golem kept rushing for me and if you're a Sorc, there's no way you'll be able to charge up a spell in time.

And for the Rangers, how are you expected to kill them if you can't find time and space to charge up your own spells?

I would say the item sorting/menus/crafting is the worst thing about this game. Everything takes about one menu too many.

Charge staff shots are great at sniping enemies (You have to learn the core skill focused bolts), especially when buffed by an element. For example holy basically has the orbs home directly at them and it does good damage. You can charge up shots while walking around and even running iirc.

Anyone know of a list of augments that are bugged? I heard that a couple of them don't work as intended.

I missed this game, happy it got ported to PC.

Afik, none are bugged ,some augments don't reap benefits depending on which vocation you use.
Capcom perhaps should have made it more clear.

My suggestion would be to look around for characters buils that work best and fit your style.
Weapons played a huge part for me, I loved how OP turpor effects are with rusty bows.
