Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

I started with a mage, I hope this is not the path of painful weak battles

As in your weak or the battles are weak cuz you're strong?

It's the former. Fights kind of lose some flavor since you aren't up on enemies climbing them and shit, but the badass looking spells make up for it.

Its more like Devil May Cry, but everyone jumps to darks souls because of the fantasy setting.

Really? DMC has a quite extensive combo system with dodging being rather vital. This looks a bit more spammy (for want of a better word). More like wait for an opening the. Let everything rip, back off and repeat.

I'm finding it hard to decide if I want to buy this or not. From the videos I watched it looks like a sort of open world monster hunter but with combat more akin to things like God eater, soul sacrifice, ragnarok etc (as in more over the top and fantastical combat).

Is that accurate? I see the odd comparison to souls games but it doesn't look remotely like those to me.

I loved soul sacrifice etc on my vita but I'm not sure that, but in an open world, is something I'm after.

A lot of the larger enemies wouldn't be out of place in Monster Hunter, but at the end of the day, it really plays nothing like it. Really, nothing quite plays like DD. There's no straight analogous comparison. It's a quest based open world RPG, through and through. Except the combat feels amazing, there's a fantastic, innovative asynchronous party system and you can get your shit fucked up real fast if you're not moving through the world with purpose/willing to circumvent or disengage from a fight.

Frankly, it's closer to something like Elder Scrolls in terms of structure(get quest -> go do quest, quest may involve killing enemies or talking to people), but the pacing is it's own thing entirely.

Here's a script for Autohotkey if you want to turn Alt and Ctrl into switches (like Caps-Lock) for possibly more comfy controls. I didn't code it myself btw. I just changed a few things so it probably looks bad to anyone with coding knowledge.

Code:
$Alt Up::
if (toggle:=!toggle) {
    Send, {Alt Down}
} else {
    Send, {Alt Up}
}
Return

$Ctrl Up::
if (toggle:=!toggle) {
    Send, {Ctrl Down}
} else {
    Send, {Ctrl Up}
}
Return

Its not as intricate as DMC, as it supports more play styles, so you can back off and repeat as you say, but if you equip the right skills you can dodge/iframe through almost all attacks.

Are there no button prompts for controllers?

Auto switched to them just fine for me. Whenenver I press a keyboard key or use the mouse , it shows KB/M prompts. The instant I use the 360 controller, 360 button prompts.

Also protip for everyone: Disable the cinematic camera. It really adds nothing.

I'm guessing I need to try it for myself really. Maybe il buy it. It's not exactly expensive.

What's most commonly considered better in this game, magic or melee?

There are, even a mod for PS3 buttons.

Maybe it's because I'm on a DS4 they're just showing as numbers. I'll have a look into the PS3 button mod.

Is it too redundant to have a Ranger pawn if I plan on making a Magick Archer? Still in Cassardis at the start, mostly exploring and still didn't create my Pawn.

Anyone ported their save from console? If you have a high level pawn I would very much like to add you as a friend.

I completed the game on PS3, never tried dark arisen content so would like to cruise through the early game with a high level pawn until I get decent gear and such.

Then I will play as normal, I already played 5 hours and I'm about to escort the Hydra head,any help would be great.(early game is a slog especially since I only beat the game a few months back on PS3)

This happens when say a pawn pins an enemy and wants you to come kill it?

I believe that or when a pawn does some sort of critical attack / really strong move on an enemy weak spot...or maybe even get hit really hard. Personal preference, but I think the action camera switches are too jarring for whats going on.

Is anyone else getting screen flickering? I'm also getting garbage performance in general. Drops below 60 FPS on a 980 Ti with a 6700K CPU and 16GB of 3200MHz RAM is dreadful.

Anyone know how to stop it constantly loading after the prolouge? Kill the Chimera and then nothing just loading forever. Done it twice now it's really annoying me now

Switched from DSR to Gedosato, because there is more resolution to choose to downsample.
Too bad that resolution revert back when you quit game, is there solution for this?

Not really, no. Also, don't think you're stuck with a ranger pawn just cuz you choose that as it's starting class. You can and are encouraged to switch classes regularly as you level them up and gain new augments.

Where do i use the teleport stone or whateaver the hell is it called?

Once you get to the Gran Soren, they'll be an eternal ferrystone in your storage. Just visit the inn to access it. You just select the item from your inventory to use it. You'll come across port crystals throughout the game that let you place your own fast travel spots. There are two that are already set up and cannot be moved, one in Gran Soren and one outside Cassardis.

You're collecting Sunbright and Moonglow for that quest. As the name of each plant suggest, they can only be found during the day and night respectively, and both can be found right outside Cassardis.

This quest will get cancelled if you advance past the primarily escort mission coming up, so wanted to give you a heads up.

Nope, Magick Archer and Ranger are two pretty diverse classes. Magick Archer generally is one of the few jack-of-all-trades classes in the game (they are also the best in enclosed spaces, as Ricochet Hunter dominates most of BBI). Rangers are heavy physical DPS. Would recommend getting a tank pawn (fighter most likely) and a Mage/Sorcerer pawn for healing and general support.

Basically download wmcore.DLL And put it on the executable dir of DD. Worked for me my fellow windows 10 brother :D

Same thing happened on biohazard HD. Crapcom, get your shit together.
Thank you so much the background video is on the title screen now so I assume this is going to work. Will fight the Chimera again later, already done it 3 times so not in the mood right now!

Does anyone know how to get the game to run above 60fps? Got a 144hz monitor but the only time I see a higher framerate is during the attract mode. Everything else is capping at 60.

Erm, I assume you did turn off the FPS cap in the settings and use your 144 hz refresh rate?

Turns out HDR on high is fairly taxing for lower end systems. I went from 25-26 FPS to 29-30 by turning it down to low.

I need a new computer...

They're lizards, cut their tails! :D
I was doing quite well but the rest of my party kept dying and trying to heal them is what did me in >_<

I guess i'm too low level for it? Only level 6 at the moment.

I only had trouble spotting it, didn't check the beach before. Got it all now! Also, I wasn't aware that there would be a timelimit to quests. Thanks!

Can you realistically play this game alone? By alone i mean "pawnless". The very presence of an npc partner burdens me no end.
