Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

Made it to Gran Soren and completed the one quest of the Pawn Guild that resides there (
the one with all the magical tentacles once you reach the bottom
).

Question about gear at this stage of the game: am I overlooking vendors that could provide me adequate equipment by now? Because I'm still rocking a Trusty Sword with a 2-Star upgrade and I feel like my individual damage output as the default melee class may be lacklustre regardless of the skills I learned or advanced, especially against some of the more durable enemies even when hitting their weak spots. Unless that's how the game is designed.

Game keeps stuttering for me and it's keeping me from playing, even stutters in the main menu. GTX 980 Ti, i5-6600k no problems with any other game. Sad :(

Did you fix this? I was having the same problem and then I forced triple buffering from Nvidia control panel and it fixed the stuttering

Caxton is the main vendor by the inn, he'll increase his stock as the story progresses.

Early going damage wise is a bit rough without the right elemental enchant to exploit. Ton of stuff early on is weak to fire so make sure you've always got a mage pawn with the buff.

HAHAHAHA, what the fuck happened?

I was being a little careless and tried to climb up from the front. Almost as soon as i latch on, the serpent initiated that quick time [A][D] prompt which it indicated I was successful in executing it.

Next thing I know I'm swallowed by the serpent but my model just glitched out in the best way possible. This actually enhanced my experience with DD and will thoroughly recommend it as a result.

couple questions:

1. If I'm using a friends pawn, do I have to kick them and hire them back every once in a while to update their levels and stuff?

2. Is there anywhere online that shows good portcrystal placements?

3. How do you get the infinite ferrystone?

1. Yes. If the pawn system wasn't bugged, your friend would also receive rift crystals every time you boot their pawn from your pawn. But it is bugged, so all they'll receive is quest and enemy info.

2. Dunno. But you can move your portcrystal at any point you want to.

3. Gran Soren, talk to inn keeper, look in storage, withdraw, under tools.

Gazer down :D randomly wandered into him as a rank 1 Magic Archer, but killed him anyway. I'm still not sure what the hell happened, but he attacked himself, fell over, looked confused, rolled around a bit and then summoned a magic super weapon for me.

That description will make sense once you see him :/

I have annoying tearing in this game. It runs perfectly smoothly without stuttering or lag but there is a constant tear sitting on the screen that I just can't ignore. It goes away if I choose variable framerate, but then the hair bugs out and starts flickering.
I was advised to use gedosato and force borderless windowed and so I tried the normal non-fullscreen mode and indeed it does fix the tearing. why is that? Seems bizarre to me.
I also have the tearing problem with resident evil 4. Even forcing adaptive vsync from the nvidia panel and whatnot doesn't fix it. Maybe it's a capcom thing...

Is there a fix for this or do I have to install gedosato and run it in borderless?

I got a gtx 970 if anyone wonders.

Yeah, I really wish there was a quick save button or atleast not these console-esque saving times. Can't imagine the game takes that long to save.

Yeah I had that scene a couple of hours ago (escorting mercedes) and that's how it played out except that I could attack him
lol

The game is convulated with menus, one of the negatives of the game.

I was stuck between going for either Ranger or Magick Archer, but in the end I decided to for Ranger. I kinda miss Magic though, without the Fire Boon buff from my pawn I'm not doing any damage at all.

The Resonant ENB took the game from 'meh' visuals to 'take a screenshot every 2 minutes' quality... the dithering effect alone was worth the install (night time banding mostly gone now, very dark nights indeed!).

This game is next level great, haven't had fun with RPG combat like this Bloodborne. Kind of reminds me of Kingdoms of Amalur combat, but much better/deeper/responsive.

This is the first time i've played Dragon's Dogma as a short character (one notch above the smallest, roughly 5'0 height). I jumped up and grabbed onto a harpy hoping to pull it down and it just flew away with me, I ended up dropping to my death eventually. I have to avoid a lot of water since it's easy to put out my lantern, my weapon reach is also pretty bad and I have much more limited carry weight (thank goodness for the fighter perk).

It's actually a pretty fun challenge having to work and adapt to my character's height, and it makes me glad i'm tall in real life, I never have to worry about harpies abducting me.

Slew the Dragon.
I've done this a bunch of times already (at least...five or six maybe?) and it never gets old. Best dragon-related boss fight in video games, hands down. I don't remember if this was a thing on consoles, but my pawns had an alarming tendency to die during the first part of the fight where you're running around and stuff. I had to kill myself to get my checkpoint back four or five times so that I could have all my pawns at the end.

Most probably know this but you can hit "Back" or the keyboard equivalent in the start menu to save the game instead of having to select the option at the very top.

I only put this out there because I didn't realize that was possible back on PS3 for the first half of the game.

So I already suffered the misfortune of missing the Lost and Found quest line-- did I miss anything else by sparing the cultist in the catacombs and severing my partnership with Mason? I feel like I'm locking myself out of unique content right and left in this game.

Minor spoilers:
Nope. Mason says your paths will cross again or whatever, but they pretty much don't at all. He gives you one hint during one completely unrelated quest that you can figure out by talking to other people around anyway. The Lost and Found quest hurts the most out of all missables, but even then you just miss one kinda cool optional miniboss and a bit of dialogue that gives some insight on the setting/story.

There's definitely a lot of missable content, as it's a game designed to be replayed several times.

Locking out questlines due to your choices is one thing, but I don't think it'd have hurt to have even an optional indication of when certain timed quests will expire. The cutoff point for Lost and Found is completely arbitrary, for example.

Well, that makes me feel better, at least.

Yeah, and I do dig that design philosophy as it helps make a playthrough of a game truly "my own," but since I won't begin a second run in the near future I can't help but imagine the King Bay Leaves that could have been.

Or just don't inform me at all. Silently remove the quest from my list. What I don't notice won't hurt me.

From a world logic perspective, what does the announcement of a canceled quest mean? Did my spider senses tingle? Is
Quina
dead, Jim?

Yeah that's the one i'm using. I disabled Bloom in the ENB settings though, it was a bit too harsh imo and made everything look slightly blurry.

Finally remembered that I had to rest at the inn to upload my pawn. Now I'm getting friend requests out the ass so they can hire my level 100 pawn for free. -_- Argh

Explain.

Just switched to Magic archer after 100 odd levels of Strider. Not sure what I'm doing. Have a level 1 BBI weapon, dragonforged.

I think I understand what's fundamentally wrong about the keyboard and mouse controls now: They don't behave like the gamepad controls. On the gamepad, when you hold the button for your bow to aim, you can use all three skills at once + fire regular shots off your bow. On the keyboard and mouse, you have to switch to bow mode to fire regular shots and aim, but this aiming is also separate from the button that uses skills. It's weirdly mapped, and even changing the keybindings can't fix the unnatural setup of having the abilities separated like that.

Also on an unrelated note, ENB + Sunset = gorgeous. Wish I had gotten a shot at 1440p using the uncompressed option tho. Buuut I was slightly sidetracked at the time. ><;

Apologies to any of the poor souls that hired my pawn before I could buy him a weapon after changing his vocation. He'd just stand around.

Half expecting to get a flood of scathing reviews when the servers are fixed.

How should i handle vocation switching? I'm probably about level 24 right now and haven't touched anything outside of Strider. I'd like to hit magick archer to see what the crack is with that vocation. Was thinking of building into Ranger first.

is there only one dragon in the game? because if so I met him during an escorts mission and my pawns were scared shirtless.. we managed to run away

It's not even worth it unless you're around the same level or you'll take a huge hit in experience gain. I always keep pawns around my same level because of this

Yo, anyone got a Mage pawn around level 17 with only buffs, debuffs and healing spells? Need a support caster, not another DPS caster.

Question about some of the DLC gear I got in Cassardis: Both the Wavering Cloth and The Lion's Spine make it clear in their description that they belongeg to an ancient arisen in their descriptions, which is to be expected, the arisen being somewhat cyclical, possibly involving the same dragon branding people as arisen, but the Jester's Cap has this description:

"The pointy cap that jester Feste placed upon the head of the Arisen. It fits any size head, and adds a touch of mirth to most any occasion."

It just says "the Arisen", which I assume would be used to refer to me. Is this an event that is yet to come and was added as permanent armor because people requested it, or am I missing something here? Or is there a "primordial Arisen", that is called as "the Arisen", and this is not talking about me?

It could be referring to the same ancient Arisen from the other items, I suppose, but it doesn't really match as part of the same set.

I didn't even notice there were short item descriptions similar to Souls when I played it on consoles. Also didn't climb any building in Cassardis. I don't know if that's an effect of having played Dark Souls and now coming back to Dragon's Dogma, or if it's just a result of disabling the map, so I rely on thorough exploration to memorize the areas, but I'm loving it.

It'll probably take me way too long to beat the game, but it's fine by me. As long as I can finish it at least once before Dark Souls III.

I was being a little careless and tried to climb up from the front. Almost as soon as i latch on, the serpent initiated that quick time [A][D] prompt which it indicated I was successful in executing it.

Just switch if you want to switch. You'll need to get the right weapons for the class but there's no reason not to switch. Plus you can always switch back and you get to keep the augments which is nice.

yeah, it's super low

btw all the guys who are playing for the first time: HOW ABOUT THAT ARISEN THEME/WINNING THE FIGHT THEME
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTNfuztCMgM

It's called imminent triumph, and it's amazing yes.

So the online system is busted, right?

Rift Coins, ratings, quest/enemy/area knowledge, items, and feedback that your Pawn should be coming back to you with are not actually being tracked.

Knowledge actually gets transfered fine, the other things don't. (also not a port).

spoiler at your risk:

there is one drake (the red one) in the woods during the first part (before the battle with the main Dragon Grigori) of the game, in Gransys.
There are many Drakes in the post-Grigori game, in all Gransys.
There are Undead Dragons and Drakes in Bitter Black Island.

There's also:
The Wyrm in watergod altar and in everfall, and the wyverns at bluemoon tower, outside of gran soren.
Also remember to fight dragonkin with at least 1 star upgraded equipment, if you have no upgrades they have 0% chance of dragonforging your stuff; only
grigori, onlineUR and the BBI
dragonkin will forge unranked gear.

This is the first time i've played Dragon's Dogma as a short character.

Another fun thing is, you'll now fit into some special shortcuts only made for short characters.

Explain.

Just switched to Magic archer after 100 odd levels of Strider. Not sure what I'm doing. Have a level 1 BBI weapon, dragonforged.

Magick archer has all the tools to effectively fight the stonger/boss enemies there:
Ward arrow to stop negative status
sixfold for damage/stun, this works beautifully on
eliminators (the big barbarian hammer dudes)
Richochet for anything in tight corridors, this murders even
Death
And then immolation/thousand kisses/instant reset for murdering things you can climb on.

Yo, anyone got a Mage pawn around level 17 with only buffs, debuffs and healing spells? Need a controller, not another DPS caster.

I've been renting this Mila pawn, from either tig3r3y3s or a bowl of kimchi, she's been serving pretty good.

It just says "the Arisen", which I assume would be used to refer to me. Is this an event that is yet to come and was added as permanent armor because people requested it, or am I missing something here? Or is there a "primordial Arisen", that is called as "the Arisen", and this is not talking about me?

No it's you, it's refering to a cutscene when you meet the Duke.

The load time stuff could be related to shader tracking, but it really shouldn't be that significant. If I can reproduce it I might have a look. For tweaking in real time, what I do is force the game to borderless fullscreen (for easier alt-tab) and keybind the "reloadShaders" action. Then you can edit the shader file, reload it in-game and directly see the result.

I've actually always had a bit of an issue with GeDoSaTo and loading times, but was never able to tie it to a specific setting or anything. Not necessarily in-game loads but initial launch loads.

Always assumed it's just the nature of the injection.
