Quick tip for those of you playing as a or have a Sorcerer pawn, use High Miasma, It's absolutely devastating. Combine with a 3 star rusted staff for hilariously OP damage.

For you guys that's ran into one of these.................

Dont even think about fighting one unless you got a attack rating of around 1000. Just run.

I was barely putting a dent in the things health bar with the stats I have.

Arc of Deliverance + the dragon's heart = one dead dragon. I was taking off 1.5 to 2 health bars with a single hit using that skill with my Warrior.

Thanks, I will ignore them then.

Some of them are fine though, mainly the batch of first released stuff and the aneled stuff.
Aneled applies an oiled status, but they are pretty weak by themselves.
You can go ahead and use the chaos/heroes set, since I think even the meloirean set is better than either.
They just look cool as shit and have nice visual effects on them. There are 4 armours that have these effects, it's fine to use those.
You'd mainly use them for meta in maximising a single resistance (like 100% dark resistance), but even then you'd need some more items.

Also the rings that sparkle with a certain colour are harmless and look nice, the rings that upgrade mage/fighter/strider abilities however should be avoided, those are endgame BBI items.

Just reached gran Soren, changed my vocation and now I have all this new items with great stats to choose from, they have a little house icon, are these dlc stuff? If they are I don't want them

Rust is amazing, but you can always buy more from the merchant you met on the road to encamptent (raynard?) he cycles around friendly areas with his wares.

I don't think he would have enough time to set it up. Just one swipe by the drake or flapping its wings can make it very difficult to land it with the maximum effectiveness.

Arc of deliverance isn't affected by wing flaps, or even fire breath. Plus you get less damage while charging, and even less if you have the augment that halves damage while charging (temerity?).
Also, just stand right next to it's legs, it can't hit you with any attack then.

I really hope I didn't sell off my rusted gear. Who knew that the starter equipment was so awesome?

huh?

I definitely kept it, but how is it useful? Status effects?

Due to the way this game's defense works I really don't want to give up any attack power.

Rust applies torpor, dragonforged rust applies torpor -and- blind, 99% of the enemies in the game are weak to torpor and makes them a joke to fight.

So I switched my pawn from warrior to ranger. Should I remove her daggers if I want her to focus on bow attacks? I don't want her to just run in to the enemy.
This is actually not a bad idea but at a low level I'd advise using both since it can help a lot in close quarters (rangers deal less damage in close range).
So... seeing all these gifs of badass Arisen in here with their bigass swords. Did I make a mistake playing this game as a Striderfor the first time?
No...warrior early game is annoying to plat because it is slow, no range and having three skills only can be painful
(Has great stat gains when it comes to atk damage and HP though).

Something I always wanted to know...I ended up getting a platinum version on Vanilla, but I forgot to do one thing:The first time you get to Gran Soren I hit someone by accident and I was thrown in prison, so I had to pay a bribe to get out.But what happens if you don't have cash?

You make a key and leave.

So I'm playing on hard and I just fought the
------Hydra-------
for real this time. Holy fucking shit man! That was one of the most awesome fights I have played in years. It was a 20 minutes struggle between beast and man. Holy fuck, it was like those god of war games without the bullshit qte. So satisfying.

I keep hitting M on the keyboard thinking it'll bring the map up to no avail.

And yeah, a dedicated quick save would be really, really handy.

It's not the best solution, but here's a AutoHotkey script that has a key for opening the map (m) and saving (F5)

Code:
#NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

#IfWinExist Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen

	F5::
	Send {ESC}
	Sleep 500
	Send i
	Sleep 600
	Send {Enter}
	Return

	M::
	Send {ESC}
	Sleep 500
	Send {Enter}
	Return

To use, download and install AutoHotkey from their website. If you already have it, I had to update my (2 year) old install of autohotkey for this to work.

Open Notepad and copy/paste the code above. Save the file as DDDA.ahk. Anything with the .ahk extension will work.

Double-click the .ahk file. This will automatically run it if you have AutoHotkey installed. You should see an "H" symbol in your icon tray. You can right click the H to exit the script.

The save command is not really a quicksave. I tried doing the final ESC to exit back to the game, but saving is pretty long and not necessarily consistent time-wise. If you want to try it anyway, insert the following after the first "Send {Enter}"

Sleep 10000 ;sleep for 10,000 milliseconds (10 seconds). Adjust this up or down for your system
Send {ESC}

I've heard Windows 10 changes inter-system permissions in a way that this won't work normally. Supposedly you can compile the script (right-click the script file and compile), then run the EXE as administrator to fix this.

This script may cause joint pain, nausea, head-aches, or shortness of breath. You may also experience muscle aches, rapid heartbeat, and ringing in the ears. If you feel faint, call your doctor. Consuming alcohol while running this script may cause unintended consequences, especially while operating an Ur-Dragon. Consult your doctor if you notice your pawns developing suicidal tendencies. Not recommended for children under 85. Wolves hunt in packs, Arisen.

This thing's eye is like this normally or only when doing something? I remember the dragon in the opening having eyes like this only when he was about to speak. Very interesting. I love the way it looks, and how it's in the woods too, it must be terrifying to see one of these walking around close to you.

Do they appear during the night as well?

Oh, I see. I've been using wickfut's config but it kind of destroys the original look and it's way too bright for my taste. I just want to remove the vignette filter and maybe add some AO.

I'll take a look at it, thanks!

For AO, I've been using Nvidia Inspector as per the OP. Is using ENB preferred for AO?

He is possessing your pawn in that screen shot, the pawn will turn against you if you don't save them from his clutches. Those dragons are probably meant to be fought when you are (I can remember) lv 50 or higher?

The eyes are actually a very spoilery story related thing, once you finish the game you will realise why they were blank first. Or maybe not but then just ask and I'll let you know.

Is there a way to auto exit straight to the desktop? Why does it go to the main menu then a save then you can exit. Seems redundant.

I get bored with those notice board quests (heck, I'm still at Evefall lol). Should I just skip them and focus on story and side quests?

Yes. I just collect all of them but the escort ones and complete them naturally as I'm doing other things. I don't seek out 45 rabbits to slay specifically, just murder them as I come across them. Quests like that kill open world games for me so I don't focus on them.

When they start flatlining over a 24 hour period.

Dragon's Dogma still seems to be going up around 20k per day.

Hi, I don't know much about how steam works, but is there a way to know how good DD is selling, and also I am not sure if this game is being pirated, if such thing even exists would it be accurate? I'm really hoping this game is getting the love it deserves and people are interested in buying the crap out of it.

They spawn around certain spots in the world, besides some random encounters. So they will be there day or night. You know you have the worst luck and your whole day is fucked when you happens to run into it at night while exploring.

Just the skill im waiting to get, vocation aint high enough for it just yet.

it could be killed as early as lvl
30

need more gifs from you tho :p

lol.

Im level 30 in the picture too. I was able to take chunks of health off it, but I was the only one doing damage, my pawns were useless. I need to level up my pawn some more and get some better pawns before taking that thing on, get nothing but rangers and mages out there to fight that guy.

The composition is throwing me off. I can't tell if this is a troll post or not.

The game has been holding the top sellers spot on Steam for a long time with healthy concurrent numbers around 30K (look up the definition of concurrent if you need to).
Steamspy uses statistical analysis to log a minority of profiles to extrapolate the entire user base. This takes several days to a week to become accurate, so we will know then. The only thing we can confirm currently is Dragon's Dogma has sold >100k copies, which is quite good for a high-margin port of an old game.

Keep in mind the strength of the PC platform is sales over time, Dragon's Dogma is likely to receive millions of sales over the upcoming years due to progressive sales.

To address your piracy concerns, data has shown over the years that piracy will occur no matter what. Certain demographics and ideologies will continually pirate games. If your game can't be pirated, they just don't play the game. Doesn't factor too much into the bottom line as those players are unlikely to buy games anyways.

Do I take this post seriously?

You should, I live under a rock when it comes to PC stuff....and sometimes popular stuff going around gaf.
Edit:sorry about the composition, what I meant was if there is a way for steam to count how many units dd sold.
and once we know that unit, is it even trust worthy, since people could get it for free or something...(I don't know squat about how steam works actually)
so yeah , sorry about the confusing post.

Edit#2: Thanks for the response, is there a link where I cant track DD sells?

Since # of copies pirated rarely, if ever, factors into a decision for a title to get a sequel, Steam numbers should be more then accurate enough in judging how well it sold.

Those House icons mean those items are in your bank/storage. AKA, not in your personal inventory.

Steam's top 10 list is based on revenue of the games that made the most currently

So it doesn't take pirating into consideration, what it means is that it's currently making the most money on the service, but we don't know how much, the best way to know is through steamspy and it'll take a few days for it to catch up

The post wasn't confusing, it was merely composed strangely. Mainly my issue with how I initially chose to interpret the post as there are a lot of trolls on GAF currently. It could be lost in translation if English isn't your native language.

Check Steam Spy and Steam Database websites for more information, their usage is intuitive enough that you should be able to find what you're looking for.

I'd like to know this too.

I'm in the same boat. From what I understand, you need to complete chasing shadows to have her open her shop in GS. If you miss that quest, she's gone.

The only way of knowing is going back to Cassardis during the day. Is she not there? Then yes you're fucked but not entirely. Just realize you can't possibly buy some weapons such as two of the three elemental daggers (and another magical dagger) anymore since she's the one that sells them in a specific situation but if you're lucky you can get them as a drop. If you don't care for daggers the only other thing she brings to the table is she also sells some good looking light armor that looks good on female characters.

The reason you'd be fucked is funny enough because for story reasons I think you're supposed to take her to the encampment before you embark to gran soren. And at that point she has another chapter relevant quest called chasing shadows which might fail (no clue) if you don't do it prior to a certain chapter. Just keep it in mind for ng+ if you do one.

Just reached gran Soren, changed my vocation and now I have all this new items with great stats to choose from, they have a little house icon, are these dlc stuff? If they are I don't want them

Yes they're DLC. IMHO I didn't use any of it save for a headgear for my female pawn and the arms armor for my main dude.

I sold the rest immediately. I'd suggest you do the same you will get 320k+ from selling the majority. Nice sum of money to help you over in the beginning.
