Anyone else get really happy when their own pawn does something awesome? I was fighting the Devilsfire Grove wyrm yesterday and had the fucker on the ground, beating his heart with my hammer when my pawn casts a perfectly placed triple spire ice spell right on him. It proactically took away a health bar on its own. Then the next time I had him on the ground, my pawn did it again.

I wish there was a hug command in the game because he totally deserved one. I wonder if hes as awesome for others as he is for me.
Yeah, but that happens rarely; my main Pawn ends up annoying the hell out of me. Quick to cast Holy Affinity when needed though.

Every time my mage pawn casts Maelstrom or times a comestion on a harpy perfectly.

Sometimes they surprise me with their timing they really do.

Yeah, same. I thought theyd be useless AI characters but theyre actually helpful little buggers. Ive had bad experiences with other peoples pawns but my current team wont ever be changed. I love them all.

If its a gaffer that created Talia the ranger chick on PS3, I love you.

Hmm, mine has been pretty good.

My brother created some pawn thats crazy jumpy and grabby. He will seriously grab anything he can and then start yelling for me to kill it. Hes also suicidal....every fight he yells out "Ill use myself as bait!" or something like that. I love him.

Then theres Talia the ranger. Shes just all around great.

Couple questions again:
1) Whenever I talk to Quinna there's this weird noise. Like a chime, does that mean anything?
2) Is there a board quest or something later to slay that drake in devil grove? I think I'm at a high enough level to do it but I don't want to miss out on a quest or something.

Did anyone buy the DLC weapon pack? I heard it looked really cool, how about the stats? What level would they be useless for?

Ummm guys, I met Aelinore in the castle gardens then started the quest where you're asked to meet her in her room
and she's getting all sexy up in my face and saying she loves me! What in the what? Did I pass out for a few hours of game time when this epic romance took place? I hate to break it to you lady but I'm gay and will happily watch you get choked to death.

Such an awkward scene.

wow. according to the guide, loot chances in the everfall for good stuff are 2%. reminds me off plates and rubies in Monster Hunter. Lucky me found a Mage Staff "Frigid Finger" in a chest at chamber of fate, on 3 stars it got 142 strength, 745 magick. not bad and better than that i got, caus missing parts for the upgrade xD

and the hunt for loot goes on and on and on and on...

It's just an example of the games' excellent story telling. The acting of your silent protagonist in that scene was truly oscar-worthy.

Is this a ps2 game? The cutscenes (and graphics) look horrific.

I'm waiting for the right price maybe £20 used on ebay. By the time any decent FAQs are done it would be about that price.

Huh. Yeah, you'd think so. I assumed the same thing would happen to Quina after the Witchwood quest expired, but she just popped up back in Cassardis. So I guess The duchess' plight wasn't all that important.

Question: why did it choose her for me? Was it random? She was one of two NPCs I had max affinity with, the other being Madeleine, who's questline I completed in its entirety. Either it has nothing to do with the number of quests you do for someone, or the duchess has some sort of natural "bias" towards becoming your LI. It seems in my next playthrough I'll have to plan very carefully if I want to end up with someone specific, i.e. only give them gifts, make sure they're the only person I max affinity with, etc. It's not hugely important, but ending up in a relationship with the armorer or some kid would be hugely off-putting.

I suspect the game has to have some sort of hierarchy that determines priority in the event of a tie. I checked my History in the main menu after reaching the final area and it said I had maxed the affinities of 7 characters, so apparently
the duchess arbitrarily had priority over the other 6. I'm pretty sure that Selene, Madeleine, Fournival, and Maximilian were four of the others, but I'm stumped as to who the two remaining unaccounted-for characters could be. Possibly Quina and the blacksmith whose son you revive with a Wakestone.

The game might also prioritize whoever you give
the Arisen's Bond
to. I never used it but it seems like the most reasonable explanation for what it does. Though you can make forgeries of it that are identical to the original so they'd still need a tiebreaker of some sort if you decided to try to stump the game.

Another, unrelated question:
Do Mercedes and the Champion of Night ever figure into the story again? They sort of left randomly

Mercedes never seems to come back and just exits stage left permanent-like, but at least the way I resolved their duel the Champion of the Night ended up dead. I intervened and won the duel and he died in the ensuing cutscene, but I don't know if he survives if you let them have it out without stepping in.

So I've just entered the "real" Everfall and I'm feeling very aimless.
Do you specifically have to grab on to certain ledges as you fall to access different areas? I grabbed a ledge, entered a door, and when I went back out said door I was on a different ledge. What?

Excited though. I was feeling godlike by the end of the main quest proper and these new beasts are teaching me humility.

The various chambers are on various ledges, yeah. A lot of them look similar and the only one I bothered to memorize was the all-important Chamber of Lament, which is the protruding walkway about halfway down. Some of them seem to connect in strange ways. Most of the chambers are just giant monster closets for all intents and purposes, but the chambers of Remorse and Estrangement have the best merchants in the game.

This happened to me too.
How the Arisen explained the creepy beer-brewing witch to the duchess I cannot claim to understand. Or maybe she just didn't even say anything about it. You'd have to be pretty numb to displays of profound social maladjustment to develop a crush on the Arisen, after all.

Does anyone else point-blank dismiss any Pawns that are named in all-caps/no-caps?

I find having 'BETTY' floating over a character's head to be a little immersion-breaking.

Awesome, thanks for all the info.

I allowed the duel to play out - Mercedes lost and went home in defeat, but promised she'd be back with soldiers to help me against the dragon. The Champion declared his victory, talked some Salvation-babble, and walked off - never to be seen again.

Perhaps I'll meet either of them again someday.

I'll not hire anyone with a silly name in general really. I saw one earlier called "Grand DALFE!" replete with exclamation point and another simply called "GOD".

I was wearing a dress when this scene happened. I thought I was supposed to wear it to avoid the guards or something. It made the scene extra wacky.

Okay, spoiler question for New Game+...

How do you
fight the ur-dragon in Cassardis? Do you need more wakestones to activate it?

I just started and am enjoying it, but i am confused on a bunch of things. I just created my Pawn, and we just hit Level 7. But i can not figure out for the life of me where or what we are to do next? I look at the quest log, and it tells me i have a couple side quest that involve killing Spiders and Sea Birds or something. And the other thing is leveling up. How do i distribute my points?

That's kind of funny, really. The game really has a passion for forgetting cutscenes ever happened as soon as they're over.

Its steadfast refusal to adhere to any sort of coherent narrative structure is actually kind of endearing.

Alright folks I'm now lvl 38 and have found no usable good loot for a ranger in 25 levels. I cleared and searched blue moon and soul flayer, any other spots I should go for a damn long bow?

Seriously GAF, one of the best ending sequences this gen and a great way to set up NG+

People are going to overlook the story initially, but dat ending @_@

Did you even try? Just touch the rift stone in the beach

Also, there's a 30 minute grace period to land your killing blow on the ur dragon, so anybody that joins during that period gets their kill and loot.

I figure most people would end up with Madeline, even though I didn't particularly care for her. I maxed out her affinity through quests without noticing.

I wasnt even aware that this game had a peculiar romance mechanic, I dont care for relationships in games so it was odd when she appeared during the end of the game.
Not as odd as my female character being accused of rape by the duchess, getting tortured and then acting like it never happened but odd.
LENORRRRE!

It's as if the cutscenes in the game exist entirely seperate from the game itself sometimes. Like how you could off any given bad guy at any given time, but your Arisen just stands there gritting his teeth at them.
Or how you're run out of the Duke's Demesne ot once, but twice, and allowed to saunter back immediately afterwards as though nothing happened.
I don't know if I'd call it endearing, but I guess I'd be pretty pissed if I was never able to return to Gran Soren again, so...all is forgiven.

Quick tip: If you press left/right on D-pad, you will yell for "Help!" ingame. And if you have a pawn that can heal, or cast enchancements on weapons, you can click the Help button and they will cast helpful spells like Heal, or weapon enhancement -- kind of nice when preparing to go into battle, cause they usually cast the buffs halfway through a battle on their own, or after a battle has been iniatied.

Minor quest spoilers for QUARRY:

Have you finished clearing the Quarry for the merchant? After finishing, an NPC will set up shop in the "Inn", or keep of the quarry area. Sells a lot of nice stuff, but not sure if they have any long bows.

They'll also use healing items on themselves if they're wounded.

Has anyone dragon forged a rusted weapon? Wondering if it helps the stats out a lot to make the status effects they cause really useful.

Strider is kind of great, I like their skills better than Fighter, got 8 ranks from just killing everything on my way to shadowfort

What the hell, at level 33 my assassin is still rank 8. :/ Also have three ranks in Mystic Knight and Warrior, that might have something to do with it, but it still seems slow.

1 - You've done right by her and raised her attitude towards you. Either via gifts or by escorting her safely somewhere.

2 - I haven't seen a quest for it, but when you start the fight you'll get a generic "Ambush!" quest notification, and killing him will grant you money and XP.

Best female character I have seen in the game definitely, top notch work on making her look human.
Thanks man.

This game is too addictive, damn.
Later i'll go in the pawn thread to share mine and search for others', although i'm still low level (27) so i doubt it'll be useful.

How are you guys getting such good screens of your pawns? Mine is extremely camera shy and will run the other way when I try to focus the camera on her.

someone hired my warrior and i got 16k crystals, neat.

it's getting harder to find more quest variety for me. i can only follow the story or finish kill quests.

God's had his chance.
so i bought the item that lets you change your pawns looks and all stuff from the guy at the encampment ... but I don't have it in my inventory ... what happened?

Are some guards just pissed at me for no reason or have I offended them?
I was randomly arrested in town one time when running up to the castle and another time when going into the castle through the side door after talking to a guy about a quest.

Are they pissed because (spoiler to do with the Duke's misses)
I chatted with her, gave her a gift and went to see her one night and then raised my sword to the duke when he went all creepy strangler on her?
.

No, they're weirdly okay with you after that incident. I'm not sure what you did. Did you get caught making a forgery? Accidentally throw at pawn at someone?
