Hey. Hey. Why did the "Duchess in Distress" quest cancel itself the second I accepted it? I accept it and it says I can no longer continue the quest 10 seconds later. Was it because I had the quest to kill the dragon?
I winded up with Aelinore nonetheless, despite not being able to undergo her final quest. Certainly better than winding up with a random villager.
So if you wind up with a small child do you still get the scene where you make out by the fire during the credits? WTF.
Okay. I woke up and the sky's crazy looking. Off to Gran Soren then.
Does the dragon in Devilsfire dragonforge armor if you beat him?
I was sick of the Chimeric set but thats was I was wearing when I beat the game last night...ended up with a dragonforged set now. After returning to Gran Soren, I bought the full set of the newest best set and upgraded as much as I can but its still giving me 19 less defense than the dragon forged Chimeric so I want to dragonforge the new stuff.
Yes sir. There's a set chance of any 3-star item you have equipped being dragonforged when you kill the drake. I think the odds are about 20%, more or less.
Ugh... How did I end up romancing Ser Maximilian? On new game+ I am going to give presents like crazy to Selene and Mercedes. Some of the cutscenes just felt random with him in them.
I got Selene for mine. I didn't give a single NPC any gifts either. I just did the quest towards the end of the game that was in relation to Selene and
unlocks the door below her house. Turns out, it's a golem blocking it, so you get to battle him before going on. Then you go through the door, into another part of the forest and there's a cut scene with Selene and her grandmother. After that, she's like "I want to go with you."
I'm enjoying the game even more in NG+ :lol This stupid game. I usually never replay a game, much less after just beating. I planted a few port crystals around Gransys already and loving the quick travel to any area of importance.

I will try doing this quest. I feel like I missed a ton of side quests when going through the main story. I plan on being more thorough next time. I wonder if there is anyone you can't romance.
I guess the dragon forged guy would be one based on the cutscenes.
I just remembered I gave a bunch of gifts to the vendor in Gran Soren. Now I am just picturing ending up with him. Him saying, "Masterworks all, you can't go wrong" during the romance scene would be hilarious.

It seems like that quest has a really narrow window of opportunity. Seems it needs to be accepted
after you accept the quest to go to Greatwall from Aldous
and needs to be completed before
you actually finish the quest and get The Final Battle quest
. So the whole thing basically has to be done during another, otherwise-unrelated quest.
I did that quest on my playthrough, and
I'm surprised you could get the Duchess as your romantic interest if you didn't complete it. The whole reason the Duke sent her to the Blighted Manse was so that he could quietly bump her off, and during the quest all the guards in the place try to kill her while you escort her out. I'd have figured she'd be dead as a doornail if you didn't rescue her.
I got her as my romance too, and was actually pretty miffed about it. I wanted to let the dragon roast her then fight him, because I did not like the Duchess one bit but I sure as hell didn't go all that way to turn down the big boss fight. Regrettably the game does not give you that option.
After hearing about the other options, though, I've tempered my feelings towards her considerably.
Man, I hated that little git. Worst quest ever. Had to youtube it to figure out what was going wrong. Turns out you can't bump into her or fail any number of arbitrary requirements.
hey, i ended with the innkeeper and have to go to cassardis in postgame to change vocation xD is there really something more bad?
btw. just repelled the ur-dragon. i think i'm overpowered ... i climbed up his left rear toe and mashed light attacks, after two full stamina bars he flew away. missing one healthbar.
I'm doing the first Duke mission, and supposed to kill a Griffin on a hill outside of Gran Soren. There's a quest marker on the field and we're supposed to wait and ambush it. But the Griffin isn't there. And when I ask the quest guy he says "Be sure to carry your weight".

Does the warrior vocation get more fun as you level it? I have maxed out fighter, assassin, and strider but am having a difficult time enjoying warrior with the initial moveset and its slower fighting pace.

I was the same way. It is my GOTY currently and to say that I thought it might be so would be an outright lie. This is such a fucking gem that I really have difficulty explaining just one thing I like about it.
Sum is far more than its parts.
The quests get you experience but so far they seem designed to make you explore and climb to unusual locations to find them. Almost like they're trying to get you to discover just how exploitable the climbing is and find nooks and crannies.

It just gets better. Easily my GOTY so far as well, and one that I will just keep on coming back to. Not only because it is so fun to play and the world is so atmospheric, but because of the Pawn System as well. Keeping tabs on your Pawn and checking out all of the ones created by others is every bit as addictive as I knew it would be.

Switched to strider with my pawn to sorcerer, we're an awesome pair!
She could actually dodge goblins hits too and blind them while I spam arrows, it's just that she wouldn't cast nuke spells that could probably kill them all at once...

Huh. Yeah, you'd think so. I assumed the same thing would happen to Quina after the Witchwood quest expired, but she just popped up back in Cassardis. So I guess The duchess' plight wasn't all that important.
Question: why did it choose her for me? Was it random? She was one of two NPCs I had max affinity with, the other being Madeleine, who's questline I completed in its entirety. Either it has nothing to do with the number of quests you do for someone, or the duchess has some sort of natural "bias" towards becoming your LI. It seems in my next playthrough I'll have to plan very carefully if I want to end up with someone specific, i.e. only give them gifts, make sure they're the only person I max affinity with, etc. It's not hugely important, but ending up in a relationship with the armorer or some kid would be hugely off-putting.
And I ask this question again, for those who got a kid as their LI:
Does it still have a makeout scene?
If so, very strange.
Another, unrelated question:
Do Mercedes and the Champion of Night ever figure into the story again? They sort of left randomly
...
So I've just entered the "real" Everfall and I'm feeling very aimless.
Do you specifically have to grab on to certain ledges as you fall to access different areas? I grabbed a ledge, entered a door, and when I went back out said door I was on a different ledge. What?
Excited though. I was feeling godlike by the end of the main quest proper and these new beasts are teaching me humility.

Why on Gransys do people outfit their pawns with offensive magic and then give them the guardian trait? I just wasted another 15K RC on another shitty mage pawn. I just wish there was a way to see their inclination before you picked them.
I figure most people would end up with Madeline, even though I didn't particularly care for her. I maxed out her affinity through quests without noticing.
I wasnt even aware that this game had a peculiar romance mechanic, I dont care for relationships in games so it was odd when she appeared during the end of the game.
Not as odd as my female character being accused of rape by the duchess, getting tortured and then acting like it never happened but odd.

Anyone else get really happy when their own pawn does something awesome? I was fighting the Devilsfire Grove wyrm yesterday and had the fucker on the ground, beating his heart with my hammer when my pawn casts a perfectly placed triple spire ice spell right on him. It proactically took away a health bar on its own. Then the next time I had him on the ground, my pawn did it again.
I wish there was a hug command in the game because he totally deserved one. I wonder if hes as awesome for others as he is for me.
