Automaton is the skill. You get a 70% boost to magic and physical damage when not with any Pawns, and it is absolutely broken I have more than 4K strength with it active and at night.
and i say "who cares?". I mean, is it really that important? The main thing behind the term is, that we can communicate about the things after... and before ... between ... you know what i mean. what should it be called? happy hour?
chamber farming? apocalypse now? soylent green sky?
It should be called Dragon's Dogma, or Dragon's Dogma's last part. I don't know; gamers always find ways to name certain parts of the game without spoiling. It can be Part II if you're really picky (or Part III, or Part IV, depending on how you'd separate the game--or how the guide could have separated the game). But post-game sounds misleading. In a way I am happy about that, though, since I thought I was all done at one point but I am clearly not.
Thinking I should've stocked-up on items before meeting the Duke. Felt bad for the guy, feebly waving his sword like that, then I introduced my shield to his face.
So... branded as a traitor to Gransys, everyone ran away - even the shopkeepers! Well, except for the pawn's guild area, but there's no one to buy curatives from! Are there merchants in Everfall to buy ferrystones and some old weapons and armor? Would want to experience the 'changed' world a bit before focusing on Everfall.
Am glad that I (at the least) got the duchess in the end, not some creepy unexpected LI that others got.
Just checked and reloaded my game, seems that I'm stuck with the

So in the everfall going through the rooms I find a lot of doors that are like.. barred shut. Is that normal? I swear I've checked chests (especially in sorrow a few times) and have yet to get any decent loot except off drops from big ol monsters...

Yes. The doors are blocked because it's the same copy pasta rooms used in the dungeon... Good loots are fairly rare, 2-5% for each chest. Otherwise you either get curatives or wakestone shard in chests.
Yep, the game just re-uses the rooms, so that's why some are blocked and others are open. As for chests, you just need to do one of two things:
A) save in front of the chest, open it, if it's what you want, profit; if it's something else, use the
sword in your inventory to suicide
an retry until you get what you want
B) if the chests are near an entrance, open the chest, if it's what you want, profit; otherwise, don't pick it up, run out, run back in, repeat until you get what you want.
Option B is usually faster, but you have to almost do it without pawns, as they have a tendency to snatch up everything before you can run back outside.

it does not seem post game to me. Post game usually means the story is done, and there are tinier quests and additional things to do afterwards. That's certainly true here, but the the fight with the dragon is clearly not the end of the main plot.
I'd say the official guide, which I have, is wrong.
you're wrong, the point of Dragon Dogmas campaign was to ultimately
slay the dragon, hunting the most dangerous "game", its over when the "game" is killed, and what follows is the post "game", where you can keep playing to get the true ending.
Forgot to even mention this in all my excitement for the everfall last night BUT ..
who else here is guilty of killing 40/50/60+ guards before they figured out you needed to go over to the Everfall hole?
cause... i killed a lot. (went to the north entrance and all the way up the wall and then back down and out again through town. Literally the longest possible way I could have taken it. Infinite respawning 70exp guards urverywur..
The witchwood chick, Selene I think. We've been in fights with massive enemies, with trolls, golems, ogres, griffons, chimeras... even a drake! Little bitch keeps on truckin' along, always somehow barely avoiding death. I think she quite enjoys the adventure! I don't want to lead her to her place
Oh God...just saw your post Arcteryx, got a boner from the loot, I have no idea what any of those Chambers are, but its great. I'm currently doing the quest in the mine to clear out the Trolls after opening the gates. Its so satisfying going back and actually doing damage to these creatures, the first time I stumbled upon them was looking for a shortcut back to Gran Soren after the Knight Bren I believe his name is wanted to be escorted to the Shadow Forte, and I had to run like crazy!

More so than any other game... especially any other RPG i've ever played... the feeling of advancement and just getting BETTER at the game -controls, stats, gear everything - is so far and ahead of anything else i've played. From stumbling through the dark scared out of my mind hoping I don't run into anything and then almost dropping the controller when a Cyclops slams his club down in front of you before you even knew he was there.... to sprinting through the dark on purpose on the HUNT for chimera and cyclops... so satisfying.
I keep hearing people talking about the Forgery store, but I can't find it in Gran Soren. I want to forge the Tome I got from the Bandits Fort, but its never open.

If anyone wants to help out a moron that screwed up the gold idol quest and gift him a shiny new one, please recruit my poor abused pawn and shower her with affection.
So does anyone know 100% how gifting works? I had zero issues yesterday/over the weekend(sent 3 items yesterday to 3 people, sent 4 items to one person over the weekend).
I'm seeing conflicting things on what causes it(saving at various points vs not saving before releasing the pawn).
Ok, I'm officially semi-borderline-retarded. I found it, i was looking in the dead wrong area. Decided its not worth forging a book for the 37,000 and change just so I can call down a Meteor Shower for one time use. I saved before I used it, realised what it did and just loaded over....bah...

Was just about to PM you to let you know my naked strider pawn was ready to receive your gifts (rawr) ... and noticed i didn't have anything yet. Almost made a sad face. Anyways... i'm sure i'll get LOTS of points while my boy is weapon/armor-less so take your time! I gotta run again but i'll be back again later this eve. Was in the bottom left corner of the map when I loaded... had to kill two drakes out of principle on my way to Gran Soren

Is there a way into Shadow Fort? I was on an escort mission from Cassardis to Shadow Fort. About halfway I was decimated by a Chimera (Level 16). The guy I was escorting (Adaro?) perished. My squad was in a bad way and I did not have many curatives left.
So we just ran into the general direction of the fort. Passed up several goblin mobs and a huge Dragon before making into the fort.
Am I missing something? Dreading having to venture back out ill supplied, I was hoping the Fort would let me rest or stock up on supplies.
Bah.. i changed to strider before I left the house. Erm... all i did was change and then stand there .. should i have loaded a new area or saved? And thank you! Vimes will be extremely grateful. He's a humble killer. (prayingforassassingearcausei'mgreedy .gif)

Yea, I believe you need to save for it to update the pawn status to the server. Hopefully it will work, otherwise I'll try again later on when it's up.
Is there any specific things I need to know before starting this game? Stuff I can screw up bad or anything? I'd rather not follow any guides or such, just kind of want to jump right in. Any good tips in general would be great as well...

It's not really possible to screw up terribly in this game, except for failing escort quests. So if you do get those, do them immediately, don't stop to fight a cyclops or something, just run to the objective. And save as much as you can when you're out in the open.
Finished the main game. Not sure why some people said the story suddenly got good at the end. It didn't. It was pretty much blehh the whole way. The gameplay however was good most of the way with some real downers in having to trek long distances through low-level enemies over and over until you get tools that allow you to sometimes bypass it. Was hoping for a huge epic fight at the end, but what I got looked cool, but was far too easy.
Questions:
Much like I had an issue with sexing up the Duke's wife, him finding out and throwing me in jail and then every guard and the duke himself seemed to forget that I had done all that, I'm confused as to why the hell the guards aren't trying to kill me all the time now in the endgame. I get back from killing the dragon, Duke blames me and calls on his guards to kill me, they chase me to the pit. I jump in, and then I exit out of the pit via the Pawn guild location and now all the guards are back to being nice to me. What the hell? I'm also assuming the special sword I was given was to kill myself, which will lead to NG+ when I'm done messing in the Everfall?

The guards go all apeshit on me when I try to enter the castle (which I cannot anymore). Do the wakestone quest first, you will see what the godsbane is for, not going to spoil it for you.
edit: Or rather, don't complete the wakestone quest until you're ready to move into NG+. You won't be able to farm that place for high end loot once you've finished that quest.
I went out last night looking for trouble and was suprised to find that in Devil Fire the drake is actually the same kind/level beasty .. along with very low level goblins and such. Kind of threw me off as I was expecting an upgraded big bad and at the very least hell hounds or something. I did run into a Dark Chimera on my through the woods towards a Life Spring... but the Golems were also not any stronger.
Is there anything past the Southern fort? All that gray area screams for beasties but I haven't been back there since I cleared the gobs out ages ago.
