Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

The guards go all apeshit on me when I try to enter the castle (which I cannot anymore). Do the wakestone quest first, you will see what the godsbane is for, not going to spoil it for you.

edit: Or rather, don't complete the wakestone quest until you're ready to move into NG+. You won't be able to farm that place for high end loot once you've finished that quest.

So basically what I should be doing now is farming for good gear? Is NG+ so hard that I'll want really great loot?

God's had his chance.
There's actually a new drake south of the original one, in the area where the 2 cyclops were.

I found this out on my brief time at home after work...slayed him naturally...he actually talked mad shit durring the fight. Feelsgud...

Any more monster replacements n the world worth killing....

So I thought I beat the game, but I didn't, and now I'm fighting a
Beholder.

Capcom. :bow :bow :bow

I love how this sentiment is almost universal. It's not bad till it turns good.. then good till something makes it great... then great till something makes it amazing ... then you "beat" the game and the awesome just keeps escalating exponentially.

Literally all they need to feed me with DLC is a pack that introduces more monsters and i'd bite a million times over. So many good mythical beasties to wreck.

Edit:!! So ... i hope I don't make myself sound stupid here but the kindest of kind hearted Gaffers attempted to send me some stuff today and everytime I collected the "take one thing as a gift" present it was an ordinary rock... and there was no new equipment in on my pawn (inventory) or in my storage. Am I missing something here? (besides a shitton of awesome gear...)

sometimes i think, i am the only person who puts a comment under the rating when releasing a pawn and i also change gear of pawns sometimes (to make them look better for me =) ) and i always give a gift. mostly heal potions or wakestones (i have a shitload) ... atm i am sitting on 8 Million Gold ... need to get to the everfall again soon to buy a lot of stuff. currently i collected ~250 individual Weapon/Equipment ... need a lot more fore the trophy...

god dammit!

i beat the kill 3 Ogre's quest (it was hard as hell at lvl 20) and it made at least 2 escort quests disappear from the board.

guess im screwed till NG+ huh? too late to start over now...

Little misunderstanding here i think ...Arc was going to send me a few very specific items... said they sent - did multiple rounds of equipment... and when I would get my Pawn back there would be nothing extra ... no new gifts in storage (besides the rocks) and no new armor equipped.

was it just a common kill quest?. they might reappear if you clear the other escort quests.

Seems like most escort quests are simply XP + Gold bonuses, nothing more. You don't even have to complete several of them to unlock unique quests do you?

Not liking Warrior's 3 skills limit, since some skills are just single slash/charger and if I use the support skills I would have like nothing else to use but the core combos, one thing I do like is their range, fighting Harpies is painless compare to something like fighter.

Uhg... chamber of fate
Hellhound summoning lich and 2 chimeras... one of which is a dark chimera... THAT .. was a long fight. And the two chests you get at when you kill everything? Fucking shards man... so frustrating.

For my second playthrough I actually managed to make an Arisen who looked good and didn't look completely retarded in cutscenes. He started off as a naive, hopeful boy and grew to become a physically, mentally, and emotionally scarred young man whose only purpose in life was to kill.

Everything was set for a dramatic finish where,
upon seeing his destined love in grave peril
, his eyes would flicker with life and his heroic spirit would burn anew.

It was then that
Fournival
appeared.

This fucking game. :lol

I made my way to the Healing Springs on the top-right of the map last night...I spent well over an hour trying to get there. Dozens of Dire wolves, harpies and bandits were destroying my team (lvl 20's) but it was worth it. Over 100 "spring water" bottles!

Also, I'm a Magic Archer and damn I feel so underpowered. Arrows barely do any damage to wolves or harpies. I haven't really done any quests yet, so maybe I'll give the story a go and hopefully level up a bit more. I've been exploring for about 5 days now and haven't really accomplished anything but finding 3 locations, some other Arisen dude and getting my faced bashed in by bandits.

I sent a friend of mine a Forged Gold Idol several days ago, and it took him like two or three days to finally get it. Maybe just wait a bit, or keep resting?

hmn. not sure. it was the one where the merchant wants you to clear the path in the mines. there were 3 ogres a band of human bandits with mages (they were hard too) and some random little baddies in there.

i actually found him standing outside the mines while i was escorting someone and trying to figure out where to go. i dropped the escort quest (but it was still on the board) and eventually beat the ogres instead. early game, pretty much right after i reached gran Soren.

There is one much much closer than that, it's south of the entrance to the catacombs and not far from the bridge leading from Gran Soren.

Just found out I screwed myself out of the only gold idol I can get.
If anyone is feeling generous, can you gift me a real one? Its a long shot, but I fgured I'd ask, just incase a kind soul exists!

I screwed this quest up two times now ;)

@Eppy: i see, but my statement remains ^^ my pawn was hired 72 times, i got a lot of crap, no equipment and 1 or two ferry/wakestones... I gifted portchrystals, equipment, magick items...

Maybe it changes now with my new female pawn... O,o

Don't worry, it's not something you're doing wrong. I sent a couple emails to Capcom asking about it.

I'm beginning to think they have some kind of daily limit of some sort in place, or at least a specific cooldown on how fast you can send stuff(I had sent a couple pieces to a friend earlier in the day before trying to send stuff to GAF yesterday afternoon/night).

Hopefully it goes away after waiting a week or so :(

Haha. I think I read about that location, but it was suggested that the location I visited was "easier" to deal with :/

Level 40 and I'm now getting really tired of the main quest line and no travel system besides the port stones.

I really enjoyed the lack of fast travel for a bit, but the main quest line literally has you running to the furthest points in the world, then right back to the capital.

My initial feelings on the world and exploration were a bit off as well, the world is extremely boring, and what I thought was some awesome hidden dungeon I found of course was a quest I had to revisit.

Oh and if your a ranger good luck on finding loot, it sucks.

I'm level 30 some crap, and I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. I still haven't done the Pawn Guild quest, I'm just doing notice board stuff, quests from other folks. I'm off to find a wake stone, or wake shard what have your for some dead kid.

What I'm really doing is trying to get me and pawn to Vocation lvl 9 in Warrior. I want Clout and Proficiency for my Arisen, and I already have Bastion for my pawn, just need Proficiency for him before I move them onto their "real" vocations. Although I might take a detour into Ranger for my pawn for the life augment, he must be an unstoppable tank. However it seems to be taking forever to get to rank 9, so I don't mind, wandering, gathering materials, finding new places, killing stuff to get more discipline points.

When all is said and done, this fool should tank everything. He already has Awareness and Apotrapaism, in addition to the magic defense stats boost from being a Mage/Sorcerer. He's getting attack, life and defense boosts every lvl up from Warrior and he has Bastion, dip into Ranger to get Longevity, and he'll end his career as fighter with Vigilance.

I'm crazy I know.

I hope that's not their plan. For DLC I want more land to explore that includes more varied monsters/quests. This everfall thing is doing nothing for me. Reminds me of Dante's Inferno post-game DLC that was just a series of kill rooms. It's boring me. I need to either move on to NG+ or create a new character and see how a non-ranged class feels.

What's the best way to damage the Ur-Dragon? I went two rounds and did no perceptible damage at all, gave it everything I had (Mystic Knight). Is it immune to normal damage or something? I forget my exact level, low 50s I think, with the Dragon's Dogma sword.

Finished my solo playthrough last night. - What a great game. I have entered the realm of really overpowered but it's still fun.

So what's the best vocation to switch to after I max out my fighter? I want to go warrior for the big ass weapons, but it sounds like Gaf likes the mystic knight.

I've been taking my time with this but I plan to do the final quest and start the "post-game" stuff in a day or two. Is it just me or do more beasties spawn as you near the end of the game? I was running back from the Greatwall to Gran Soren at night and I ran across a golem and, a little later, a wight by the side of the road. I hadn't seen either of those spawn along that stretch of road before.

You have to attack it by hitting its weak-spots but you'll do no noticeable damage until level 70+ and no proper damage until 100+.

More stuff spawns at night time than during the day, maybe that's it? I didn't notice any difference to spawn rates by the end of the game.

I'm finishing up the quests I have now to go fight the dragon, but I have a couple that want me to kill things that I don't know the location of.

Two Suppression quests, one for 3 gargoyles and one for 2 metal golems.

I've killed golems before, but I don't think they were metal golems. Where can I find these things?

Spawns appear to remain the same the entire length of the game. My question though is why you don't have warp stones. You shouldnt be doing that run from the Great Wall back to Gran Soren. Unless you're doing it on purpose to level up, which is cool. You can buy as many warp stones as you need in Gran Soren.

I beat the game without ever seeing a gargoyle. I killed one golem during the entire game (outside of Seline's house). The closest I came to another one (2) was looking for Seline in her forest I saw two lying dormant in the river.

You can complete the 3 gargoyles quest after defeating the dragon, you can find them in the Everfall. I believe there is at least one metal golem in the Everfall, also after defeating the dragon, but I'm not 100% on that... I had the same quest but only ever found one.

Lol seriously? I've come across, and slain, with difficulty so many Golems, because I'm basically walking all over the place. Sometimes I even forget which quest I'm on, I came across a Golem near a beach like area, with 4 rock protrusions sticking out. I have no idea if that was stone or iron however. Two in the witchwood, but i believe those are stone.

You have to go through
everfall
to beat the game, there are gargoyles in there, unless you meant you haven't ran into any

So I just got this game...

1. I've just made it to the capital. Should I have gone to the Witchwood? I tried, but bandits were blocking my route and after 3 attempts I just ran back to town.

2. Are there any list of tips for new players?

3. I'm a strider. I like bows, but I don't like daggers. Are there sword/bow users?

Actually, I try to only carry one warp stone at a time and keep the rest in storage. I forgot to grab one on my way to the Great Wall so I had to run back. It was kinda fun since I had to deal with a Golem, some Chimeras, a Griffin and a Wight along the way. Still seems odd that I never saw a Wight in the wild until after I fought two in a story battle.

There's also a metal golem in the Witchwood. I just went in there twice to fight him and finish that quest.

Can Pawns change vications to Advanced classes? I want to change my Strider to an Assassin but it seems I can only change to a Ranger, Warrior, etc. My pawn is lvl 20 atm.

No, just the base classes. Would have been nice to be able to unlock them for pawns, say if you max out the rank of two different classes then it unlocks the hybrid.

Wtf, is the Chasing Shadows quest bugged for me or what? I follow the dude without being spotted and he disappears around the Black Cat, with seemingly nothing left to do. There's a marker but it doesn't point to anything I can interact with, at least nothing I can see. What am I missing?

Just approach the house by the Black Cat, it should trigger a cutscene.
