Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Can someone help me?
I have a few side quests I'm trying to do but I am stuck

A Bookkeeper's Bind:
Acquire a Promissory Note, Region: Ancient Quarry.
I've already been through this place and gotten the item, but might've combined it with something else, is that possible? If not, then idk where it is.

Nameless Terror:
Beware of Ambush
I know this has to be done at night, I've encountered two groups. Does anyone have a list of where they are located? or is it random?

i have two Divine Surcoats to spare (Fighter/Warrior/Mystic Knight). pm me your PSN/pawn and i'll send them later. only pm if you want to use them, no hoarding :)

There's a red hood for females called the Sultry Cowl. Madeleine sells it if you give her the Golden Idol.

1. Buy it from Fournival.
2. Ancient Quarry North Entrance, Moonsbit Pass, Waycastle and follow the road to the Encampment to Cassardis from there.

I believe if you gift the merchant at The Greatwall a bunch of Harspud Sauces to the point where he blushes at the very sight of you he will start selling the Divine Surcoat along with some other extras. I think it's the Divine Surcoat anyway.

Just FYI on the Unknown Terror stuff - I never got any of the ambush locations to work. Not sure if i had advanced a piece of the mainline story too far or done something else to hang that quest line up but i must have ran around the roads/quarry area and down to the encampment at night by myself about 2 dozen times and never got a single one to pop. Very frustrating. I would do those missions before anything else as general advice to anyone going through the game.

You can buy the Promissory Note from a vendor inside the Quarry.

As for Nameless Terror:

1. Near the Quarry entrance.
2. Gran Soren northern bridge.
3. Moonsbit Pass.
4. Waycastle encampment
5. Cassardis gate

Just 5 encounters in total. Go at night.

I think you have to do the bridge one first and then rest at an inn and go to the Quarry one.

If you head back to The Encampment, inside the main tent is an innkeeper dude and behind him next to the riftstone is a vendor that sells unique items for RC points. Buy a neutralising potion then two potions with dispositions of your choosing, they're really cheap so don't worry if you're short on RC. Each time you use a potion it will bump down whatever was in the primary slot to the secondary slot so use them in this order, Neutralising > Secondary Skill potion > Primary Skill potion.

I know the guy (i have already bought a couple potions from him) but i didn't noticed the neutralising one...thanks i'll get that and try to start anew her "mentoring".

Great, Thank you

I did Nameless Terror a few nights ago, and by far was the most frustrating quest in the game so far. I should have used the guide to ease the suffering, but my eye wanders so I just did it myself, which was MADDENING!!

This game is so random, I just did the final battle quest and
apparently my male arisen is in love with Reynard although absolutely nothing like that what ever indicated in the game.
The "ending" sequence even showed them making out by the campfire, and now he's at my house telling me wants to spend his life with me lol... Um, wat?

Is there another "final" battle or other story quests after that? All I found is an NPC in Gran Soren that asks for 20 wake stones, nothing else is popping up.

Hilarious twist ending!

You just need 350 total - it could be 100 weapons and 250 armor, doesn't matter. And yeah, buy everything you see. The vendor in the Quarry has some unique items as well, so does the one in Cassardis. You can also buy the insanely expensive ones from Everfall vendors but I didn't do that.

There's a clothing shop in Cassardis which sells some unique armour too, I didn't notice it until just last night.

Also the immolation skill = lol.

EDIT: Woohoo! Searching for a second Dark Lorica and it was in the second chest I opened.

Stupid Maul keeps attacking me, I know I've wiped his camp several times, but that was the past, just give me the quest to get your badge!

Was wondering: I know quite a few of you guys have managed to beat/activate this quest line. Past the bridge heading north out of Gran Soren is supposed to be the first ambush correct? Is this like.. JUST past the bridge? up the road to the left? right? I'm just curious because I've been all over these areas and got nothing to pop. My pawns will often exclaim something along the lines of "They caught us by suprise!" or some such shit but there is never anything out of the ordinary attacking us... is that just a generic enemies in the night comment they sometimes make or is that the location of the ambush and it's just not activating?

last shots before i traverse into NG+

Yep... mage solo is pretty damn hard. I'd say harder than even the Souls games (which aren't really that hard if you take your time).

I'm just trying to get to Witchwood and the bandits on the road are destroying me. I was able to make it through the first two groups, but there are so many archers. On the third group I somehow killed almost all of them, and there were two guys left... archer and a fighter. I use a curative and I'm at full health. I start casting to buff my staff and I have a bit of space, but the fighter does his lunge attack and OHK's me.

hahaha... shit man. This may verge on impossible.

Hint hint: If you take the path to the Witchwood at night, the overpowered bandits will be replaced with wolves - a much easier foe. The Witchwood gets harder at night, but nowhere near as hard as tackling the bandits on the way there. If you travel there by night you can do that quest at level 6 if you're so inclined.

Very first ambush is by the Gran Soren-side entrance to the quarry (where goblins often congregate near the abandoned shed). After that is the bridge.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Rest at an inn for about 7 days straight and that should reset his aggro. I had the same problem until i did this and got the quest.

Thanks, I'll do this, seems cheap to rest at Cassardis anyway, 50gold!

Go into options and turn connectivity to offline before you do to stop the "accessing server" thing every time you wake up. It goes heaps faster this way. Remember to turn it back on when you're done!

Guess I learned the hard way about traveling in the woods at night. I didn't want to turn around because I came so far on my escort quest, but I came across a camp of these troll/ogre things. There were at least 2 but it was hard to tell with nothing but my lamp but if there was only 1 we probably could have taken it despite not being able to do much damage. Yeah we got crushed. 1 of them picked my lady character up and started munching on me and killed me before I could be rescued.

tldr if you go into the woods at night you're going to have a bad time.

The Wilted Forest easily has the greatest difference between night and day.

Only level 14, but having a lot of fun!

2 newb questions:

1.) What do I do with old gear in this game? Do I sell it or do I need to keep it to upgrade it later?

2.) How do I know what quests to do so I do not lock myself outof anything?

I can go to the witchwood and find a lady there, I can escort some guy to a shadowfort and I can go to the pawn guild in gran something.
I'm not sure if any of these quests will lock me out of anything else as 2 of 3 involve traveling to a far away spot.

Also... questions to my fellow assassin's out there...

I have yet to experiment with the counters (Clairvoyance and the Masterful kill specials) against larger enemies like the chimera and creatures of that size. Was watching a video of Earv doin some cleanup in some EverFall rooms and at one point he was standing in front of a chimera popping the easy kill (i'm guessing) skill waiting for the lion to strike. Although he never did so Earv never got the chance to try it ... does this work? Can you counter and potentially MasterKill larger monsters like the chimera? Cockatrice? Drakes??

Clairvoyance on Chimeras are easy. There are 2 attacks I can get it on repeatedly. When The Lion just does the single palm strike, they tend to do 2 in a row for some reason then other attacks

The leaping attack where it keeps leaping from area to area, I have been unable to successfully counter the "pounce" however that instantly drains stamina.

Haven't fought a Drake again ( too scared since my first walloping ) or Cockatrice yet ( I don't think I've got to the story part yet )

Huh. The only reason I wasn't walking around with Clairvoyance on all the time was my assumption that it was only for human sized enemies. Can't wait to get home and re-tool and then practice beating on those lions! squeee!

YES. The assassins counters will counter any physical attack from any monster. There's nothing more satisfying then countering a rampaging Ogre or Chimera and tossing them to the ground.

Just to be clear though, Masterkill is > Clairvoyance for countering larger enemies. Clairvoyance is easily interrupted by stomps or any ground shaking moves from big monsters. You'll still get the counter, but the follow-up swing won't execute and you'll be open to any attacks that come after. Masterfull kill does the full animation and full amount of damage every time.

Its too bad I just hate the knives. I mean it was cool at first, but just not feeling it opposed to the swords.

Done? What does that mean?

I'm as strong as I need to be, beat the Ur-Dragon online, got all the achievements, and have Dragonforged Abyssion Armor.

Unless DLC significantly changes things, post-game content is now too easy and I am pretty sure I have wrung all the enjoyment out of this game that I can get.

Very much the same here. Was my vision for my character from day 1... I am a swordsman fucking assassin. Just how I roll. I've made this vocation sing so far so I will keep my Carnation and Fey Whisper and just learn how to pimp Clairvoyance like wut ;)

Still killing me I have yet to take down the Ur-Dragon. I read about people not being able to hurt him and they are higher levels than myself so i know it's not a raise you level situation .. i just have not been lucky enough to pop into his chamber when he's down to 0% life.

I will Clairvoyance a dragon... followed up by gouging... The only reason I'm considering dropping the Intimate Gambit is that I haven't noticed a steady increase of damage on the attack itself. Seems to be more of a crowd control. It was such a beeeeaaaaast of a move earlier on... just seems like it didn't climb in the power grades as the other moves did.
I can only imagine the pimp feeling i'll get when i manage a counter and ruin a drake with it :D :D :D

At which level the dragon near the Rest Camp is doable?Seems impossible at my current level (35) even though i managed to get him down to 4 health bars before i quited. And the damn goblins nearby are very annoying.

I'm lvl 14 and started on a long random escort mission, one of the first from the big town place. Things did not go well....it got dark and i got destroyed fairly quickly, got 3/4ths of the way to the goal on a long journey and ended up fully retreating.
