Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

I don't think there are any real significant differences between night and day as far as enemy spawns go.
In south Gransys where the bandits are, there will be wolves at night instead of bandits... which are actually much easier to deal with than bandits.
Also I think near the healing spring north of Gran Soren there are some phantasms at night that aren't there in the day but that's about it.

...Oh, yeah, lots of undead show up at night time, but undead are NEVER a threat in this game. NEVER

If you have a Mage pawn and it has Guardian inclination, I loathe you. If your Mage pawn also doesn't have Medicant inclination, I will find you and spit in your mouth.

I want better search filters. :[

no, it was on the road with all the female bandits. i was level 15-20.

Oh, hmm, interesting, I've never seen those enemies around there before

Sorry, mine is Utilitarian and Acquisitor... :(
I actually like her having acquisitor because I always just give her all my stuff anyway, it's easier if she just picks it up

She still heals all the damn time, though

Ha, it was the incessant Guardian inclinations which were bugging me the most.

Ideally a healing pawn would have the Medicant AI but, as you mention, heals come fairly easily anyway. I can't stand the Guardian AI though, not on a back-line job when I'm Warrior or something. I'm very likely overcaring about a small detail in a game that isn't going to punish a clingy pawn too much anyway, but I'm a stubborn sod.

Guardian inclination is really great if you want your pawn to just stand around and do fuck all the entire time.

So, I just failed my first mission. What have I lost as a result of this?

I was spotted in Gran Soren by some conspirator dude I was supposed to follow

Just finished the ShadowFort Goblin invasion quest...second time trying it,the first time I was way too low level and even this time at level 35 it was kinda hard, took me a while to figure how to get up there to kill those Goblins firing the exploding barrels up there, while dealing with 2 Cyclops etc, etc...fun as hell though took me about 40 minutes in there lol, good stuff...

Ferrystoned out of there after and stopped just before turning in the quest to Ser Maximilius,I hope it's a nice reward and a bloody achievement for all that work ;)

Is the quest you are talking about related to the drake hunter license? If so I am currently doing it at around level 25 and should probably give up for now...

I did it around 28 or so with 2 pawns that were 31. It's really not bad at all if you can avoid those damn ballista douchebags. Eventually the gate will open and you'll be able to rush in and take care of them. After that it's easy, the cyclops don't provide much of a challenge on their own.

Use the ballista on your end to take out the other two ballistas. The normal shot fires much faster than the exploding shot, and you can shoot down the enemy's exploding shot in mid air. Once both ballista operators are gone the fight becomes much easier.

I got yet another quest which is impossible to finish. Picking up packages in the canyon is not finish-able until ou get a second quest, the packages are not there yet. So I'm wondering around looking for things which are not there. Capcom needs to need to learn a bit of the "if,then, else" logic.

I honestly felt that it was a glitch.

You can't get the achievement for helping Madeleine open her shop this playthrough.

You can't do the quests Bad Business or Supplier's Demands.

You lose access to her better wares and won't be able to keep the special daggers she has if you wanted to lie to her about having them.

Yeah I lost out on the escort quest for that girl I'm assuming because I progressed too far but she's still alive in my game. I just ran into her during
the side quest where you have to stalk that one guy at night
. I'm hoping I can still do those other quests involving her later because I want my trophies!

And yes I'm back to playing this for now. This game toys with me in the weirdest ways. So boring/infuriating at times and so awesome at other times.

I'm sorry for the guys that didn't attach to the game, but right now this is Game of the Year so far for me.

Last night I did the Quest for the Griffin which was amazing and hilarious at the same time
Steffan came out of no where and laid down a spell, pure comedy
. I went to the Stone was I supposed to
assist Mercedes in fighting Julien? She was getting her asked kicked, but I just stood and watched since she told me she wants to do this mission herself, I'm feeling I should've shot Julien with an arrow
, and God is that guy a sexist douche bag, but his armor is so sexy. Except for the mask that is.

Also is Quinas quest line finally finished? I gave her
the Medallion/parting gift

In 150 hours of play, I've never found the snakeskin purse. The reward for that quest really isn't on par with the rarity of the item at its center.

Yes, I'm looking in the right place. Well, I'm not anymore because it's pointless, but you catch my drift.

...

So on the quest where you chase the griffin to Bluemoon Tower, what happens if you kill the griffin before it manages to retreat? I did this last night, but I reloaded because I was afraid I'd broken the quest. The game told me to continue on to the tower anyway, as though the griffin were still alive. Would I have to fight another griffin?

Without the escort quest, you can't do Bad Business, but you can still do Supplier's Demands and get access to her better equipment after that quest.

Yeah, if you feel bored or too overpowered, it's time to do the story quests and progress a bit, there are some nice stuff here and there, it's just that they didn't do a very good job spreading the contents around, so there are no doubt some boring moments in the game

God I hope I get her in the ending I will be royally pissed if its anyone else.

Also is there ever a quest to take on the Drake? I have never fought him. I have passed the area multiple times, but I remember my first 2 hit death. I don't wanna go and fight him unless its necessary.

Over all I'm proud of my first play through. I managed to get tons of NPC missions, I messed up a few of them though, did a fair number of escorts and board quests. I really feel like I made some mark on this world as much as Itsuno would try to strip that feeling.

The wiki says you must have another quest first, then a cut scene is shown when you enter the canyon. The glitch is in the logic, the quests have a dependence that is not told to the player.

Like virtually everything else that is roughshod on the player. Luckily I managed to do both at the same time, the one for Arsmyth and Fedel.

Not that I know of, but that's the second highest source of XP before post-game afaik. It feels really good to strike at its heart - that addictive crunchy sound will make you coming back for more.

The crunchy sound from its heart is even better when striking with the Warrior's attacks.

I found the Snakeskin Purse after completing the Duchess in Distress quest line (Duke's Manse).

Also, I killed the Griffin before it even had a chance to go to Bluemoon tower, lol. The quest will still complete.

It seems that some legs look better than the others or something, my MC has terrible looking legs, I've noticed this for a while, but my pawn has nice legs and always looks good in shorts :(

Huh. I killed it and the quest continued as normal. I was afraid I'd end up at the tower, the griffin wouldn't be there, and the quest would be broken, so I reloaded. Maybe it has something to do with the timing of when you kill it.

Drake is the second hardest dragon in my opinion.

But they all go down pretty quickly if you can cling to the heart and use a move like Gouge or Thousand Kisses.

Aww oh well I guess there's always NG+.

On a side note I left the city to go do a quest and saw some convoy getting beat down by a bunch of goblins. I saved them since goblins are nothing to me now and then all of a sudden a griffon crashed down on to us and killed everyone but my party. It flew away over the city before I could really fight it :(

Uh what's up with the bandits inside the cottage up the hill between Gran Soren and Encampment? They're not in this new game I'm playing lol, they were there on my first character when I deliver the hydra head, but nope, not this game, the cottage is occupied by some dude and his son friend

It didn't even try to escape because I shot it down from the sky and was flopping around on the ground until I killed it. The quest log popped up after that and said quest complete.

hmm, possibly, I think this playthrough I only went there during the day time, not sure if it was night in my first playthrough, but after the bandits were killed they were replaced by the 2 dudes in my first run

Those 2 people are there for me now. They showed up when I went back to the place after the escort and they've been there the whole time, just chilling in that cottage.

The game is so random its crazy. Haha, wtf. All of a sudden some Bandit guy will come rushing towards you out of nowhere with three or four guys. In a mini-real time cutscene. Literally running head on like they have a chance.

haha yeah, they appeared after I killed the bandits the first time, strangely they're there too in my new game+ and my new character, but never the bandits, really weird.

And I finally got the chest at the gate between encampment and gran soren, almost fell to my death getting it, iron leggings...

I turned off the cinematics. Maybe I should keep them on when I start playing on 360.

Why would you do such a thing. The in-combat cinematics and slow-mo are awesome and they don't happen too regularly to become annoying, the most played one I have seen is when my pawn holds a Goblin to to get stabbed, the rest are infrequent and far in between.

Just got this and played through the tutorial level. The combat is janky as hell, the controls are definately going to take some getting used to, but waking up in the first village and it seems like the kind of thing I will like - basically a Japanese action twist on Elder Scrolls.

Since I really didn't like the melee controls I chose an archer since it would give me the choice for long range as well as still being able to hold my own in melee, we'll see how that goes.

Are there many cutscenes? The long intro was incredibly dull.

There are cutscenes. Most you have to actively HUNT DOWN like the cure for cancer. Some are cool, some are WTF!, some are pointless.

What?! Melee is awesome in this game. There aren't many cutscenes at all.
