I still have some area's on the map that I didn't discover but besides that, the only sidequests I have left are the kill 10 of these and 40 of that and 2 Ogres etc etc...If I take the last part of the Wyrm hunt license,(the Duke)will I fail all those sidequests as well?(I dont mind really since it's all collectatons)...and I am level 39.

General message-board quests never expire, but take every one as it appears because you really have nothing to lose.

Escort quests do appear/disappear from the board in the inn according to story events, but as you do the immediately I've never had one cancelled on me. Save them til NG+ as they are more effort than their worth mostly.

Some of the DLC treasure-hunt quests are incompletable once you hit post-game for obvious reasons.

Known unremarked sidequest cancellation points (assumes all prerequisites are done otherwise):

1. Completing "Lure Of The Abyss" (investigating the Everfall for Barnaby) will cancel the quest to find Quina in the Witchwood if you haven't done so already. This as a consequence will also lock out Selene's full storyline. Bad one to miss and remember: it happens after the mandatory cut-scene leaving the guild after the quest, not when you accept to take on Wyrm hunt quests.

2. Taking the audience with the duke will kill Valmiro's storyline unless you have done "Dying of Curiosity" in Cassardis after starting the Wyrm hunt.

3. Visiting the Dragonforged after "Deny Salvation" will cancel out rescuing Aelinore from the Blighted manse.

Well I guess I missed the Quina quest then...I mean I saw her where you say in the spoiler but nothing happened when I talked to her...about Selene though
I did escort her to the Healing Spring, not sure if there is something else after that with her as I have no clue where she is now

Well - last night I experienced some self induced controller breaking level rage in my pursuit of the Platinum Trophy. I had 2 'hidden trophies' left, and in my mind, they were the Dragon's Bane trophy for killing all the Dragon types in post game, and the Peace trophy for getting one of the 'Final' endings..

This being my 3rd time through the game, I finished the boss battle and entered post game. After I delivered the final blow while fighting the Wyrm; no trophy... I thought that was wierd so I looked through my trophies and saw that I already had Dragon's Bane. It turns out that I was missing 'Solitude' which you get for an ending when you choose not to fight the last dragon boss.

Mother Fucker..

I will need to play through a 4th time to get that trophy now.

LoL... ouch. That suck.

Just got on again last night and ran through everfall for about an hour. managed to get some decent random loot but the 2 chests that I know a Dark Lorica spawn in came up snake eyes. So i mobbed down through the beyonder/eyeball guy, a couple chickens and then the Hydra to end the evening. I had forgotten how beastly I had become before leaving for vacation. less than 5 minutes and I ended the fight with all the heads cut and burned while I great windmilled the shit outta his stubs. Also put it together in my head finally that great windmill followed by a jump/downslash into whatever is a fantastic combo and it cancels that lazy slow finishing blow on the windmill. I cannot get enough of this game and I haven't even stepped towards mystic knight/warrior yet. new game+ is gonna such a fucking blast... just a godlike assassin running wild...
And then i'll switch to warrior and beast on bosses like whoah. :)

So, I got "a little" sidetracked with Persona 3 - FES (I feel like my holidays are going to pass very fast with such a time-consuming game - I knew it was a long game, but I didn't grasp the reality of it until today ; also, I may be sleep-deprived).

I think that I will try DD again, but I'm not quite satisfied with my character... Plus, I fear that I may have missed some quests (really, they should warn us or something... *sigh*). So, quick questions :
- Is it fun/interesting to play a Mage/Sorcerer ? I heard bad comments about it, but just in case...
- Should I worry about stats and specialisation ? Ever since I read the stats chart, I'm wondering if there is a risk to "screw up" my character (and pawn, too). But I like to experiment classes, and more often than not it's kinda hard to find a decent weapon for my favorite class (and since I don't want to play DD with a Walkthrough... Though I DID read everything about the cursed Gold Idol - really CAPCOM ? Missable quests are one thing, but this... This is madness !).

What's your set-up like? HDMI, 720p/1080p? I'm about to get on 360 sometime next week.

I'm on VGA and have tried both 720p and 1080p. Tried HDD install and USB install. Tears like a banshee either way.

I had some really bad screen tearing right at the start of the game in Cassardis. I'm now 7ish hours in and I never had screen tearing again. Even Cassardis is free of screen tearing now. No idea what changed. Playing with the game installed at 1080p btw.

Maybe it gets a little better over time due to caching, I wouldn't know. Graphics tech isn't my thing. I'm guessing your eyes have just made the adjustment, but I'll keep playing with a wait and see approach. This sucker tears it up in cutscenes as well.

Does it look blurry to you? I tried it on 360 with VGA and it was very blurry compared to PS3.

It looks pretty sharp to me. I'm rather OCD about this sort of thing (I did the same thing for Trine 2); I had both games fired up (demos) and kept switching back and forth (HDMI on PS3, VGA on 360.) I played around with the gamma a bit on both systems and from my perspective, the game is a bit sharper and crisper on the 360 with slightly better texturing. The framedrops on the PS3 version didn't bother me but the tearing on 360 really does. For me, it practically eliminates any graphical edge that the 360 might have. I'm guessing that the differences are negligible anyways unless you're comparing side-by-side or switching back and forth...From what I've read, the PS3 can really struggle in the open world and has some significant studder in places (at least on the original PS3 HDDs), but the demo wasn't that bad for me (granted, it's a very limited space.)

I don't know. This one seems to be really a matter of 'pick your poison.' I'll put in a bunch of hours on the 360 again today and report back.

Ok just finished the game.
Why the hell did I have the bald noble as the main guy I care for?!?!?! Just had some Arisen Bald Noble love, how the hell did that happen!? I was helping out that one girl the duke was into. This some wacked stuff that I get some old bald dude as love interest and I don't know how it happened :/
WTF!

No, I don't want this to happen! How can I prevent something like this from happening? Find Mercedes and give her like 9000 bottles of wine? Please help!

It will just take 2-3 hours. Skip the Wrym hunt quests (except one) and go meet the Duke, and then finish everything fast. I hope you have PC's everywhere considering you finished your third playthrough.

Thanks - hey, where is Mercedes? I got to Gran Soren, she's gone, and there is a single quest involving her to go to Shadow Fort. Will I have a chance to give her some wine after that?

Also, her armor is DLC right? Is there any way to get it in-game?

She's inside the castle and her armor (Captain's Armor) is DLC only.

Questions for those even more into DD than I..:

1. Do the effects of items which enhance XP from defeated foes stack?
2. Where can I buy the waystones? the things you set down as a location to port to? (have yet to fast travel at level 72)
3. Is the Dark Lorica the assassin chest piece? As in... the twilight mask, manicae and greaves are obviously dark assassin shits... but I haven't seen a twilight tunic or anything...
4. Cloaks with hoods. Do they exists? Or do you need to wear a hood then a cape? Can you wear hoods over certain headgear like the masks and (possibly) the twilight mask?
5. Nebula cape... is that essentially the best assassin cape? Does it actually make you run faster?

I have so much killing to do tonight when I get home. Will murder my way through everfall for a few hours hoping to finish up my assassin outfit before moving on to new game+... and i'm actually feeling pretty ready to go kill in the sunlight again. If anyone wants to toss my Pawn some grisly greaves/grisly gauntlets ... i would appreciate it as those are the only 2 pieces of that set that i CANNOT find to save my life. Grrrrrr random drops.

I think I have the last quest to go for the dragon at the mountain. Is level 50 high enough to finish the game?

1. No.
2. You mean Portcrystals? Can only be purchased at NG+ from the Black Cat.
3. Dark Lorica is part of the Assassin Twilight set.
4. Only one hood that I know of and it's the Sultry Cowl for females.
5. Not sure.

Wow, this stuff shows up in Everfall? Does that dungeon expand beyond what you see the first time you enter it? The things I got from chests were crap.

Got a corrupted save file. Having to start over :( Now my main pawn kinda bugged, because when I rested at the inn, my old pawn came back from other users and now my new pawn has all the knowledge of what my main pawn at the old save data had.

Not that it matters since I know everything up to level 30 anyway. This game is also that good that I don't mind starting over.

Just 1000/1000'd this bad boy a few days ago. Brilliant stuff. A sequel would have to be a lot better, but I tend to be very soft on new ip's that try to do things differently than everyone else like DD did. A sequel would have to at least have more varied environments, a better NG+ mode (higher difficulty), better side-quests and better overall performance (framerates on 360 are pretty shitty).

About the screen-tearing though: weirdly enough it's only in the beginning of the game, where the framerate was a lot better. Later on, the framerate seems to take a nose dive, but the screen-tearing is completely gone for the rest of the game. Weird.

Anyway, this game deserves a huge audience. Failing that, at the very least a big cult-following.

Every chest inside the chambers of Everfall has a small percentage (usually 2%, sometimes 5%) to spawn with a unique item.

Here's the list. Happy hunting.

There's a lot DD can do to improve for a sequel.

  • streamline inventory UI
  • replace battle commands with item quick-select
  • more grab commands(climbing trees, better throwing, etc)
  • get rid of pawn system and roll it into NPC affinity and flesh it out
  • be able to co-op with a friend with one partner each
  • revamp the class and skill trees to make it last longer, more cross-class options(maybe have a skill pool that you can move around in and move towards using armor for other classes, etc.)

damn this thread's been alive and kicking for awhile now. i'm guessing this is a game to get? i played the xbox demo and enjoyed it but didn't offer the adventure aspect of the game that a lot of people here has been pointing out which is the best part of this game?

i know there's a lot of issues with this game but i guess they are doing something right? what is the main draw of this game? my assessment is the combat, sense of adventure, and the pawn system?

what is the main draw of this game?

Imagine a JRPG like Dragon Quest, only instead of imagining cool stuff happening during battles, you actually get to fight the battles the way they happen in your head. So you run around doing quests and get random battles that play out in real time with you chopping off heads, climbing giant monsters and your 4-man party yelling out at each other for help or spells, etc. With another iteration or two, it could be the complete evolution of traditional jRPGs.

Yeah, you can pick it up again. It just depends on where you are main-story wise, either Shadow Fort or Bluemoon Tower would be the best place to put it.

If I set a port crystal, can I pick it up again? I'm trying to decide where the best place to put it is.

Yeah, you can pick it up again. The first Portcrystal you get, I'd place right outside of Bluemoon Tower because you'll be going back there again for another story quest. After that, pick it back up and place the PC near Greatwall.

Thanks. I don't think I'm going back to Bluemoon Tower, so I'll put it near Greatwall.

I think I'm actually close to the end. When
Aldous says that if I accept his quest, I won't see Gran Soren again for a while, does that mean I'm going to the final boss? And can I do that quest and then return to my non-completed quests afterwards?

No, not yet. You can still do your non-completed quests after you've finished Aldous' quests.

Yes, do place it there, but you are not at the end, just one of the main story quests, which is a real good one setting up the end.

Didn't get to play till late last night. Picked up an escort quest in Cassardis, something about some springs or something. Started out, having a good time, got myself to Gran Soren (all the roads lead there). Took a nice left and started towards the bridge and next thing I know I'm flying through the air in some griffins claw. Got a nice view of the forest, Gran Soren, fell to the ground, almost died, counted my lucky stars, griffin lands on top of my charge (whom no harm was meant to come to), and she kicks it.

FML, as they say.

No, still a little bit left. You will know which is the final mission.

God. This game gets better and better. Just did the mission, no spoilers really, where The Dragon issues the Challenge to me, and now I'm off to see the Dragon Forged. I am really really proud of how my Arisen looks, he looks amazing in cut scenes.

Its also funny to speak to the folks in Cassardis and Gran Soren after that even. Some people are apathetic. The girl that is usually with Fedel and, hangs out with Ser Raster in the Garden like a secret rendezvous, she completely lost the plot lol. She basically welcomes death, and is bored of living the mundane life in the castle.

The elder is Cassardis importing wisdom. There is a surprising amount of VA from towns folk NPCS, in this game, and continues to surprise me. It is really a full fledged RPG, with just a broken quest system.

I have been farming for a Berserkin in The Chamber of Distress for about two hours now.

This shit is severely decreasing my enjoyment of what is a fucking awesome game.

Okay, earlier before I got the quest, I cleared out The Water God's Altar. Got the 4 slates too. So, now that I do have the quest, I found the body, and the guy outside is asking for the slates. I have them, but he won't respond of pick them up at all. Am I missing a final one or something?

You could...just...you know...not farm. :p

If there was another way to get gear, that would be an option. Currently, the only way to get the top tier stuff is through mind numbing repetition of opening chests.

Why can't I get it from triumphing over a powerful boss or something? That would make sense, and there would be a feeling of accomplishment.

This way is just frustrating.

That's interesting because A-B comparisons for me give the opposite result. PS3 on HDMI is sharp and 360 on VGA is blurry. I even tried different resolutions.
