Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Stupid quest reward dropped 50 skulls into my inventory as reward in the middle of the catacombs

Gotta admit Mystic knight is a lot more fun than Fighter, really disliked Fighter's shield skills and I didn't even use any of them the entire game on my first playthrough, while the secondary skill slots are all being occupied by enchantments on MK.

I kind of dislike the fact that my character is leveling faster than my vocation ranks, got like 1 rank in the last 4 levels. Should be the other way around.

As someone who loves these types of games, and has been rooting for it since the beginning, it's kind of killing me to make this post.

I've run out of steam. :(

I'm about 5 hours in and just got to Grand Soren and I don't know what happened. I was having a fairly good time exploring and such, but once I hit this city I just...sort of lost interest.

I need you guys to resuscitate me! What else is out there in the game beyond the walls of Grand Soren? Does the game pick up any more? Is it interesting?

For what it's worth I'm playing an Archer.

I'd suggest just go with the main quest and let the game take you to different places, talk to the npcs with the question marks, grab all the board quests and go along with it. For me the game is only fun when there's an objective, though I think everyone play these games differently, but it's not really like Skyrim where you wander off to find quests and things to do, most of the quest givers are around towns and forts.

Fun fact: start -> history -> stats tab -> player

Total amount of damage dealt is not counting for me anymore O,o it stopped at 100000000 or something like that. I wanted to measure the damage dealt to one ur-dragon, i guess i have to do it with a new char xD

Level 144 now... Still not sure if i should push it to level 200...

You've yet to hit the real wall.

You officially start running out of things to do during post-game/NG+. 5 hours in? No, you'll be fine. Explore new areas or level up a different class, if it pleases you.

I'm around level 40, haven't talked to The Duke yet (finished all those quests that guy gives you outside the castle though). Sooooooooooooooooo overpowered. Everything falls quickly. Just beat my first dragon though. Fight took forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrever.

Just wait till post game. You will miss those moments of being overpowered.

So, I switched to Mage... And it's not that bad. In fact, it's kind of very powerful, and I have better chances to cast the spells I want and hit the enemies that my main pawn Sorcerer (though, I can't wait to switch to Sorcerer and spam Tornadoes like my pawn do <3 That spell is awesome). Though, there are spells that are highly situational and which aren't worth losing a slot for them (such as Frazil). It's kinda sad that among the Boon spells, only the Fire one is really that useful, since most creatures are weak against fire (though, the Holy one is invaluable at night against undeads and ghosts - and on top of being efficient when used against undead creatures, it heals you back ! But only on those ones, sadly).

So hey guys, how do you get an Arisen Bond? Can it be missed due to time sensitivity or moving along the main questline?

You have to do Selene's quests. After they are done, the thing you need for the Arisen's Bond will appear at the place you last left Selene, that starts a small quest where you get the Bond at the end of it.

You may be able to get it without doing her quests, it might show up there after a certain Main Quest, but I'm not sure. The location is
the grave of Selene's Grandmother.

Guys, when you finish the game you get an ultra weapon - how does this work? It is class based? Pawn based? Can my pawn equip whatever weapon I get? Is one weapon better than another? Do you only get it once?

Ok, nice, I just did this and teenwitch is hanging out in my house so I'll head back there tonight. Thanks!

A certain character dropped the ring in front of me at the end of the Greatwall quest, so I had two.

haha wow this playthrough is so much more fun, some of the skills on MK are great

This mage and his blind spell was hilarious, he was walking slowly with it like anyone is going to walk straight into it, just tossed a corpse at him to knock him out of it

No I think its impossible to miss the Arisens Bond. It has to be. You get a main quest to go and have it deciphered.

Escorting Quina to Witchwood is optional and missable, ergo Witch Hunt is optional, thus you never fight the golem, thus you aren't necessarily able to get that tablet, thus you may not be able to get the Arisen's Bond.

It's possible to miss because the Ancient Tablet quest is optional.

Yeah, you have to do Selene's quest to do the tablet quest, which is very easy to miss.

So I've played through this game twice. First time, I missed Selene's quest and never got the ring.
The Dragon never even dropped one at the Greatwall
. Second playthrough, I get the ring from the tablet quest, and
the Dragon drops another Arisen's Bond. Do you have to get the first Arisen's Bond for the Dragon to drop a second?
What's the point of that?

Wait, about that tablet quest
You mean the one where I go to the former arisen on the Hill? I completed that quest but didn't get any bond...:(

You have to return to to the previously locked section of Witchwood to retrieve the tablet. Then you have to bring it to the Dragonforged.

I slayed the dragon and now
I have to find the 20 wakestones
.
Is there another inn to change vocations or anything or should I just go back to the original starting town
? I don't really need to change mine but I'm just curious.

He's in the pawn guild now. Down in the lower section. Behind the desk when you walk in.

In Gran Soren?

Yes. You're in post game now? It took me a while to find him. Thought it was just the stores left. He's just inside the pawn guild in Gran Soren. You can't change vocation in your hometown, anyway. Unless I'm on the wrong track here and you're asking a different question.

i tried it once without an enemy nearby.... one shot = 10k G ... i should do it now... when i did it, i had 50k ... now 20 million xD

Maybe you could toss out all your money and kill the ur-dragon

fml, seems that they won't let you hand in the stupid stone tablets at watergod altar 1 by 1, need pawns :(

edit: my pawn got 5 levels killing 1 goblin and 3 levels from killing 2 rats

I thought the
Bond that is dropped at the Greatwall was to signify that the dragon or whatever captured the one you gave it to.

My first playthrough, I didn't even know about the Bond and there was no Bond at the Greatwall. Second playthrough, I got the bond and gave it to Madeline, the Bond appeared at the Greatwall and Madeline was captured.

Pawns seem to catch up to your level much faster than you could possibly level.

I fought the offline Ur-Dragon by myself, about 7 times and went up 7 or 8 levels. When I resumed using my pawn, he caught up to my level in only 4 or 5 levels.

No that's what I was asking. I'll have to try and look for him again.

Does anyone know if this game is region free? I have an NTSC 360 and my brother has a PAL one, and I'm wondering if it will work on both.

with item crafting... um, is there a guide somewhere that details where to find stuff and what you can make with it? The item crafting system in DD might just be a tad too detailed.

Killed my first drake last night! So epic, entire group was around LV38ish: Assassin, Sorc, Mage, and Fighter.

Drake comes out of nowhere, blasts me into a nearby lake. Grabs the Fighter and mind-controls her. She grabs my mage. I eat like 20 pieces of random rotten vegetables and hit her like a truck. She drops like a stone, but I was too late. The drake's breath takes me to critical health and kills my healer.

Then the hobgoblins ambush.

I'm fighting like 30 hobgoblins and a drake in the dead of night, barely keeping my party up, and then my lamp runs out of oil.

The drake was at about an inch of health left when I ran out of curatives. I took a risk firing arrows into it's heart and although many missed, one of them crit the drake and knocked it down! I just barely finished it off - and my ebon cape (LOL) got DF'd.

So damn good :)

yeah its moments like this that made DD for me. Running at night when I was low level into 2x trolls. that was fun. died a lot at the start. Even saurians were like WTF?!!

I love DD

huauahhaa didn't realise why this thing was doing at the top of this page. looked back and its because of my post. haha. my arisen is now a black guy with jesus hair and mad muscle though.

Haha

Devilfire Grove near the Shadowfort is where the Drizzy Drake hangs out at.

Yup that's the bastard. I wasn't paying attention and was trying to get a screenshot of my character running into the camera with the sun behind me, then I heard something say "You are not the chosen one!" or something like that, I whipped the camera around and saw nothing...then the fucker landed on me and my pawns and one shotted us all.

:(

I love this game.
