Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Yea that's how I acquired my armor, I just fought the hydra again for fun and to test out my new pawn setup.

I usually roll with Hundred/Cutting Wind/Masterful Kill. When I'm fighting a boss + multiple mobs, cutting wind is godly for basically dodging all damage and at the same time quickly dropping the small mobs, it does knockdown quite a bit which allows me to do hundred kisses on downed enemies.

Is that in Gran Soren? Where do I get the idol?

It is in Gran Soren. Complete Fournival's quest where you have to babysit his daughter. It's a very delicate quest, so...

Complete the quest "Chasing Shadows" in any way.

Then, in Grand Soren:

Complete "Trials and Tribulations" by finding Fournival INNOCENT. You may have to obtain all sources of innocence. (2 Nobles have Innocent Letters, an escort has an Innocent Witness, and a man in Cassardis will have letters of innocence (MUST BUY THE 9000$ ONE).

Then Complete "Land of Opportunity" given by Fournival a day or two later.

Finally a day or two later, complete another quest given by Fournival called "Escort Duty".

To get the gold idol, you must:

Stay close to Symone, and not bump her. Any talk animation she gives you saying "You cant leave me" or "Where do you think youre going?!" Will fail the Gold Idol reward.

Find her quickly in Hide and Seek. Oft she'll be behind a store in the market area.

Then give her a FLASH OF WATER fast. She'll ask for it.

FINALLY; LOSE the foot race, but lose it CONVINCINGLY (stay close)

After, she'll give you the Gold Idol right away. IF SHE DOESNT: RESTART. You may have to DIE and choose RESTART FROM CHECKPOINT if one save gets overwritten.

Is there a monster level guide anywhere? I'd like to play it safe in games. I'd rather not try and take something on I can't beat and lose progress. Though, I know a lot of you guys find that kind of stuff fun. I've already run into mobs that can overwhelm me easily. Though I've learned to just run from most shit now.

That thing about having to complete Trials and Tribulations for Symone's quest is not true actually, I did her quest before I did anything for Fournival other than paying 100k to let that guy keep his house. Also, all you need to have Fournival found innocent in that quest is the witness from Windbluff Tower, the Chamberlain's Affidavit and the three petitions from his daughter, the head priest and the noble in the castle.

All that stuff about Symone is dead on though; if you eff up in that quest even a little you've had it and you get no idol. Be sure to have that checkpoint + save on standby for that one.

I started again because i got bored about 20 hours in (too easy... not the game mechanics). So this time im doing a full solo run. No pawns at all. Already reached Gran Soren. Also does the game scale enemies health based on Pawns? Or did i just get better at the game from when i started? Stuff dies a lot quicker this time.

Advice: Do i roll straight into an Assassin for the solo buffs at Lv 10 or would ranger be more useful early on for the Stamina per level goodness and obvious range benefits?

You level faster since you get more exp solo, and you probably know where everything are and bought the right gears, fighting through goblins with cheap gears at the first level still took a while, while they're noticeably easier after I picked up a better sword and was pretty much as doable as playing with pawns.

Don't know about character build, I just switch to whatever I want this time since ranking up is so slow compare to my character level.

I'm sorry Fournival,I wanted to prove your innocence so I could buy stuff from you cheaper but the bad quest tracking sometimes made you go to prison...

The quest marker for this was either not there for some parts or indicated the exit for Gran Soren and once I was outside,it pointed to the entrance on the other side.

If there's a Dogma 2,which I hope for,I hope they fix stuff like this for some of the quests...

I would just roll with Assassin since the Ranger's stamina per level boost isn't that much higher than Assassin's. Plus, the Assassin gets more strength boost which you'll need.

Okay so my level is in the 40s, and I've leveled solely in the warrior, fighter and assassin classes... Is it way too late to become a mystic knight?

It's not too late. Go for it.

Make your pawn look sexy. Have good skills and equipment. Don't have more than one elemental affinity.

I try with skills and equipment, but I thought if anything only 1 elemental affinity would make him worse? I tried giveing him lots of diffrent elemental spells so he could be more versitaile, is that the wrong move? what should I put on him?

also I currently have the plucked heart staff, and whatever armour I could get from the store, didnt get the golden idol im afraid

Stick with Fire or Holy affinities. Or be a Bau5 and go all dark/lightning and i'll hire ya boy lickety split!

but no seriously fire...

Now, should I go straight mystic knight, or go crazy leveling as a mage/sorc

Just go straight to MK and focus on leveling up your vocation for dat Great Cannon.

what does Bau5 mean? ok so only fire/holy? does that include the meteor spell as well? and isnt holy only the weapon buff one?

Here's the set-up that got my sorcerer pawn ranked in the 1200s overall on PSN:

Name: Riza Hawkeye
Level: 102
HP: 2108
ST: 2030
Primary Inclination: Scather
Secondary Inclination: Challenger
Skills: Ice Affinity, High Gicel, High Bolide, High Fulmination, High Seism, High Maelstrom

I would accumulate like 300,000 Rift Crystals each day I logged on.

damn, working hard on another ur-dragon kill, but it seems i have to go to sleep before it's dead -.- i will never see the top 300 of the leaderboards again O,o

So I already gave Caxton a Bronze Idol and completed the Idol Worship quest.. does this mean I won't be able to upgrade his inventory any more? Or will he offer me the Idol Worship quest again?

How do I get out of prison? I don't want to give up my coins '~'

Shouldn't have shot that guard... it autosaves when you go to prison ahhhh

I only used the forgery for Veteran's Periapts (2x EXP item) and quest related items. Using it on upgrade materials seems like a waste, when you can just get your stuff Dragon Forged in a number of ways (Wyrm, Wyvern, Drake, Red Dragon and Ur-Dragon).

dragon forging is not is not very reliable, you'll have to upgrade to 3 stars to increase your chances. DF is not gonna work on gender specific items if you play a male pawn. i used plenty of Veteran's Periapts, too.

I got a situation.. if I killed Ur-Dragon online, while I pick up the prizes and become overencumbered, can I leave and my prizes are still there? or will they disappear when I come back

EDIT:

I went solo too.

Second EDIT:

Just confirmed it. It disappears

Platinumed this badboy yesterday!
I have to admit, it was probably my funnest Plat. The only time I got a bit cranky was when I didnt do the Cult wyrm hunt quest, and tried doing Rise of the fallen. Was the only quest I missed, and none of the guides mentioned not being able to do rise of the fallen without the cult one.

Most other plats I've done, I've gotten frustrated at one point or another, or got over it.

Maybe Dark Souls was close to this.

Either way, looking forward to a sequel. If anyone wants a lvl 110 pawn thats a Ranger, Friend me. Also, before I shelf it for good, if anyone needs port crystals or something let me know. !0 million gold doing absolutely nothing on my character. For that matter, if you want something bought, be it weapons or armor, I have all the shops fully upgraded too.
Just friend me, and ask for it in the message.
Love this game!
Oh, only 8 Ur- dragon kills online. Had 5 offline.

Anyone know how to climb Ur's wings and hit those 2 spots? Had to use my abilities with MK to kill him, going to try Warrior now but I don't think i'd be able to hit those.

Hey I got a few more questions.

How can I edit my Pawns? Like what stuff they wear, the attacks they do and any other stuff to customize them.

Can I actually switch to my pawns in battle so I can control them and use their attacks?

I have 3 pawns now so is that the max? I have that rook guy you get from the start, my own pawn I made from that stone thing, and another I hired from their main camp near your home town.

Also can I get rid of my main pawn I created and make a new one? I dont like they way I created him in a rush.

You change pawn gear like you do your own, via equipment screen. When you're at the screen hit R1/RB to switch between you and your pawn. Like wise for their skills. When you're learning/setting your own skills hit R1/RB to switch to your pawn's.

No

You can only have 3 at a time, your pawn and two recruits. Rook is considered a recruit and you can get rid of him by walking to him and hitting B/O and dismissing him.

Also can I get rid of my main pawn I created and make a new one? I dont like they way I created him in a rush.

No, which is why you're in the pawn creation screen it specifically asks you are you sure you're finished. However if you get 25,000RC you can buy a scroll that allows you to change your character via a new entry on the main menu called "character edit" however I am unsure if this extends to pawns.

You can't really control what your pawns do, they have built-in AI where they act on their own and they will learn as you progress the game, so if they have knowledge of the enemy, they will exploit it. The questions you answer at the beginning affect their personality, and there are potions that you could buy at the rift store that you could use to change their inclinations, and different inclinations will affect how their AIs will act, things like scouting ahead, taking priority on opening chests, etc. Using the basic command like go and help will have small effects and would slowly change their personality over time, I just use the gamefaq guide to know what does what:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/626515-dragons-dogma/62861481

You can customize your main pawn's gears just like you do with your character, hit the shoulder buttons in the equipment screen.

3 pawns is the max, 1 being yours and the other 2 are other players', you could change his/her appearance by buying an item from the rift store at the encampment but you need rift crystals for that. You could change the equipment for other player's pawns but it will automatically gift those items you equip on them.

Sorcerer pawns aren't popular, sorry. The best way to use a sorcerer is for spell synchrony, not having another shitty elemental boost spell, but since nothing in the game tells you about spell synchrony, I think most players don't know anything about it at all.

Sorc pawns aren't popular because most players would prefer to have a mage for the healing spell, and since a lot of pawns end up with guardian inclination, it tends to make the sorc useless.

Killed the hydra.

Man...this game.

On the way there, fought some dire wolves and terribly vicious harpies. I was getting pounded.

My healer is healing me...I can see the greenish-yellow swirly to tell me it's about to pop.

I get sandwiched by two direwolves. The one behind me knocks me down as the heal pops so I'm like,

"Okay...prone but getting healed. It's okay."

Except it isn't. The other fucking dire wolf grabs my arm and fucking drags me away from the heals.

Then it and it's pal proceed to ruin me.

It was horrible.

It was brilliant.

This game.
