Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

escort quest outright killed me at the beginning of the game. the rest is usually pretty smooth.

Yeah those were pretty much the only things that could be impossible, and outright trolling you sometimes, I never did one til later in my first game because I don't know where everything are, when I restarted I checked and the first escort and asked me to go to great wall, lol.

Edit: Post game question, so what's up with
the drakes with those weird dialogues? Are they suppose to be someone you know or just random confused Arisens?

Oh god. I actually beat the game and I have no idea what just happened? Was the girl on the beach supposed to be my love interest? I'm confused because I thought my love interest was the person who showed up at
the final dragon fight?
Did I just get two different lovers?

Anteater,
I believe they were failed Arisens trapped in dragon bodies. I quote the Wyrm, "A strange trick of fate... to meet a fellow countryman (I'm assuming countryman = Arisen here). So be it, mayhap there is a new truth to be found in Dragon's form.

Your love interest is the person who you have the highest affinity with. Depends on the quests you did for that person and how many gifts you gave to them.

Chaos (Arisen) and Monomi (Pawn/Asuka) armor sets. Lucien is wearing the Nameless Set with the Hellfang Shield:

Yeah I got that, I guess for some reason I had gotten it in my head that you love interest
is whoever shows up at the final fight with the dragon]

The whole "romance" angle was just confusing as hell to me, anyway. I mean, that also happened to me as well as
The Duchess getting on to me
.

Don't talk to Symone much after you get the gold idol....or it makes for an awkward scene for the ending...and post game...lol.

Also Chaos armor looks pretty uber.

During your fight with Sensechel, if you use Godsbane on yourself while you're fighting him you come back as a dragon. So more than likely the drakes and what not are old arisens. Which makes sense since they talk about the seat of god aka Sensechel.

HAHAHA I just destroyed the offline ur dragon in 1 round using only 2 sorcs. Only lvl 78!
Looks like I'm going to be farming for dragon forged equipment and wakestones for a while...

I wouldn't rely on the Ur-Dragon for dragonforging stuff, he can be quite stingy. I beat him about 5 times before he DF'd my gear... and he only DF'd 1 piece. :l

I have much better luck with Wyrm-hunting in the post game. Here's what I do (just make sure to do it after revisiting the Duke and going into the Everfall):

- Kill Drake west of Gran Soren.
- Run to Windbluff Tower, kill the Wyvern just south of it.
- Ferrystone to Bluemoon Tower, kill the other Wyvern.
- Ferrystone to the Devilfire Grove encampment.
- Offload dragon materials and sleep til morning.
- Kill Drake in Devilfire Grove.
- Run south to Conqueror's Place and kill the Drake.
- Ferrystone to the Waycastle, enter the Watergod's Altar and kill the Wyrm.
- Ferrystone to Gran Soren, offload materials at Asalam's.
- Everfall, Chamber of Fate, enter/exit until Drake spawns, kill it.
- Everfall, Chamber of Distress (one level below Fate), kill the Wyrm.
- Return to Asalam, change settings to offline, sleep 20 days, settings online, repeat.

Takes just about an hour and I get at least 1 item DF'd, usually 3-5.

Hmm, maxed out Ranger, Strider and Assassin. Whether to switch classes...Did you guys enjoy playing as Fighter?

Where did you place the first portcrystal as well. I'm thinking of putting it near
Windswept Canyon
, since I can get to the
Shadow Fort
throught the
quarry.
I feel that I'm always going towards Cassardis though, so I may put it on the ledge when you exit
Witchwood
for the easy access to
Witchwood, Cassardis and The Encampment

I liked fighter enough on my first playthrough but it's a really lacking class compare to the other 2 that uses a shield and sword, there's really nothing other classes can't do, it's pretty much a support tank kind of job for a pawn since they don't have access to hybrids.

The augments are cool though.

I don't think there is really any way to do that. Maybe:

-Do not explore and only go to where quests are sending you.
-Run away from the big exp mobs like Chimeras.
-Keep the board quests for the end.
-Always bring maximum amount of pawns to get less exp.

I write this and it does not seems like a fun way to play the game haha... It's one of the game greatest flaw I guess.

to add to this, I changed my main toon to a female, dressed her and my pawn in silk lingerie, and put away my late level weapons (it didn't help too much, but it's more interesting to watch)

Guess I'll stick with Assassin or move to Magick Knight then, since my main is already a tank, and Assassin can already do the shield+sword thing. I like using the sword and its special moves, but I really do miss having the double jump ability when using it.

When I'musing a weapon with a permanent fire enchantment, what happens when one of my support pawns enchants me with something else?

What requires 20 days? Pretty sure you only need to sleep 7 days. Also I don't think the 30% is true to DF all armors. I killed the one in devilfire so many times and he never DF my swordsman mantle.

7 days only respawns the Drakes in Devilfire/West of Gran Soren, and the Wyvern south of Windbluff Tower. 15 days isn't enough for the others, so I just go to 20 to be sure.

The 30% chance of DF'ing is only for the offline Ur-Dragon and The Dragon (story one). Drakes, Wyverns, and Wyrms have a 10% chance of DF'ing equipment that are enhanced to lvl.3, but they are much more consistent for me the the offline Ur.

After around 2-2.5 hours speed running NG++, finally completed Bad Business, got The Hero, as well as my platinum.

... Fun game.

The Red Dragon will always Dragon Forge your equipment 100% of the time.

Today I reached the Bluemoon Tower. Explored it quite a bit, but I reached a gate that's locked (not long after finding the Portcrystal). Next to it there's a pillar where it looks like a lever could be put, but I cannot progress here. What does it take to open this gate?

Mind you, I'm not very far into the game I think.

A story quest will send you there around mid-game.

So I'm trying to get to lvl 200(currently 164), anyone know why my warrior is only gaining 5hp opposed to 15? What I do is fight offline Ur with assassin and shoot his 2 wings, zone out, sleep and change to warrior to finish him off with double exp. I think the game is giving me assassin stats instead of warrior.

Going to test more lvls tonight and find out, if anyone knows then let me know.

Stat boosts get lower as you level up. I think from level 1-20 is where you get the most significant stat boosts for a class, then at 50 and beyond is when the stats start to the lower.

Oh man, I was definitely not expecting that sequence of events.

Basically, I had to escort that one guy to the Shadow Keep. Easy, right? Fuuuuck no!

After fighting a couple of fish dudes, a chimera literally popped into view. Suffice to say, I got really close to beating the Chimera, but my escort always died miserably. So I decided to just say screw him, and take the long way around. But then night hit, and I ended up running into a dragon in a fucking pitch black forest. Ran past the dragon, ran all the way through so many goblin ambushes, and got the guy where he needed to go.

Okay, side-quest is done, I'm at the Keep. But... eh, I don't really want to waste a teleport stone now, so I'll travel further west and further in Gransys. Then I come along
a cliff where there is a shit load of goblins and two ogres just waiting. I was thinking about leaving, but then some asshole goblin started sniping me with explosive arrows. "I wonder..." I thought to myself, went around the cliff's edge, and took the ballista. At that point, I just spammed explosive arrows on the two ogres. They were so dumb that they couldn't even walk up the cliff's ramp right.
But I finished that, but night fell again, and I can't see shit at night without a lantern.

Oh hey... a grave. I wonder what is going on here... Wait, there's nothing here except a Steel Greatsword. Well, whatever. I'll use that when I switch back to my warrior vocation. Wait, why is the battle music turning on-
WTF GOLEM WTF. Almost a day and a half in-game taking out this Golem!
I think that was more than enough excitement for one night. Hell, I haven't had a blast with a game like that in awhile. But now I wonder if I should just head back to the capital or explore this area some more... With all this running around, I went from level 14 to like level 22.

Even when you fight him offline? I wasn't sure about that.

Wait, there is a difference between fighting The Red Dragon or "main" Dragon (story one) offline and online?

And that's why I love this game.

Whenever you need to go to the Shadow Fort
just go from Gran Soren to the Quarry, much faster, but you probably don't know that yet? I mean I don't know if you've even arrived in Gran Soren yet.

That's not correct. The dragon and online ur-dragon is 100%. The other dragons depends on your equipment upgrades.

Offline ur-dragon is 10%, 20% and 30% for 1, 2, or 3 starred equipment.
Wyrms, drakes and wvyrens are 2%, 6% and 18% for 1, 2, or 3 starred equipment.

That means fighting the offline ur-dragon, if you can kill it in a single round, is WAY faster and WAY cheaper than running all over gransys. All you really need are 2 star equipment, and it has no respawn time.

8 mins per dragon, running to and fro from asalam, 1 min. 2 star equipment is cheaper than 3 star by a bucketload, not to mention each kill gives me 20 wakestones, which is a shitload of money.

Yeah, so if you kill the Red Dragon offline or online - you'll get your equipment DF'd no matter what, as well as getting an exclusive weapon for whatever class you beat it at.

Hmm, good to know.

My experience is that the offline Ur-Dragon isn't worth it. I can beat him in one round but he hardly ever DF's my stuff, and when he does it's only 1 or 2 pieces. Maybe he just doesn't like me? :p

The way I have my portcrystals set up means I only spend about 10min not fighting a dragon The small dragons are much more likely to forge multiple pieces for me, and sometimes I can take them out in 1-2min -- plus, I can knock out 8 of them in one run.

All my equipment is 3* already and I'm sitting on 38mil+, I don't need anymore coin.

Every class gets exclusive weapons?

Warrior - Dragon's Bite (longsword)
Warrior - Dragon's Repast (warhammer, and it looks badass)
Mystic Knight - Dragon's Toll or Dragon's Dogma depending if Mace or Sword equipped
Mystic Knight - Dragon's Faith (shield)
Magick Archer - Dragon's Breath (magick bow)

So i am at the final quest.

There is a post game, correct? Before NG+?

If i am unlucky, how long do you guys estimate it will take me to get the full dragon knight set?

Yeah, "post-game" starts after you
beat the Red Dragon.

There's only a Dragon Knight Helm and Cape. Shouldn't take too long to acquire them at Everfall.

I beat him 5 times in a row before I fell asleep last night, got a whole bunch of things DF-ed. I have more fun fighting the ur-dragon as well, and it's challenging to find a set up such that your pawn is not cannon fodder.

Yes and no. You get exclusive weapons, but they're not tied to your class, but simply whatever you had equipped when you killed it.

Nice, another excuse to go through the game again! (and again)

It is so cool how fast you can go through everything, makes the game so replayable.

I'm pretty sure holy tears up 90% of everything you meet in post game, with the exception of saurian sages.

Btw, how did you get the 2nd shot of selene?

Ice freezes the dogs up though so it's pretty cool :D, holy is pretty great but I rarely use it due to how long it takes to cast the enchantment so I usually don't bother (and I don't have the sword from ur-dragon), except for fighting the stupid evil eye.

For the second screenshot I think it's the same as the first but I spinned the camera to the back of her (my character is directly infront of her but her model is blocking me).

How did you get selene out of your house? You carried her out?

oooh, the shield ripostes, good point, I've only used it once lol, it does kill zombies really quick with the 3 balls but not sure why I rarely uses it

Selene seem to follow me around for no reason in post game, not sure if it's normal, but she does that, lol
