Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

I bought the Demon's armor pack from XBL. The Chaos set looks badass - it has smoke effects. First DLC I purchased for the game but probably the last unless it's an expansion. I only got it since I had some extra MS points.

i wish you could lock levels but still rank up vocations; going through as level 1 would keep things from becoming a cakewalk.

I don't know how that will balance out but man they really need to do something, anything! You level fast as hell solo too while you rank up incredibly slow in comparison lol.

if you backup and delete your save and play with the same account from scratch, your pawn eventually returns from another arisen with all previously gained knowledge... someone mentioned this in this thread.

what! That's interesting

Damn, my pawn just got 500k RC from someone and some dragon forged gear from Everfall o_O. And got 49k from another person.

On another note, I have so many ideas for DD2, like allowing some classes to forgo a secondary weapon for more skills with the main weapon, different types of weapons (like 2H heavy ie berserk style stuff, and 2h light ie katanas, broadswords etc). Allowing dual wielding (yay more stats and loot to collect!)

my guy was medium sized and modeled after myself, heh. it's not an option currently. isn't the stamina regen slower for giant sized characters? or running speed or both?

Stamina regen is slower, stamina use is higher as well, not that sure about running speed. But if you're already in post game it's not really an issue, you should have more stamina than you need most of the time. It's most apparent just starting out, you run out of stamina a third of the way to the encampment sprinting from cassardis.

Needs a Lance + Shield combo in the next game as well.

Itsuno needs to be directing it again and he should design it based on the same design philosophy as the first game, god don't listen to the complaints about high level monsters roaming the land, a sense of danger should always be encouraged, if anything the monster placements in this game is far too predictable. Make the game even more action-based, on better hardwares.

Multiple weapons and unique skills for each of them would be nice, they don't need more classes but more variety within each classes, switching weapons on the fly would be nice but I think they're running out of buttons, unless they tweak the skill-slots system a bit.

Not sure what they could do with the pawns.

Hard to take good pictures fighting against dogs, mainly due to having to spin cameras around a lot since they like to attack from behind and you get a crappy camera angle whenever you turn 180, and I need to find myself a holy sword, I hate enchanting my sword, takes forever.

Edit: Just read a thread on gamefaqs and apparently they fixed the jiggling physics? wat
and Rangers uses tenfold arrows more now and more useful

Here's what some of the regulars in my chatroom, regulars on the GFs forum, and some players elsewhere have seem to noticed about the recent patch. Thought it'd be nice to have them all in one place.

RE6 demo patched in.

Carrots no longer sold in infinite quantities in Cassardis.

"Fixed" jiggle mechanics. (Yes, you read that right.)
Elaboration: As far as we can tell so far, there are now three levels of jiggle. When wearing heavy armour, there will be little to no jiggle. With moderate armour, like leathers, the jiggle will be noticeable. With light or no armour on, the jiggle will be all up in your face.

Ranger pawns use all skills at their disposal. (Yup, tenfold arrow baby!)
Elaboration: Prior to this patch, certain skills (namely Heptad Shot and Sixfold Shot, along with both their upgraded versions) tended not to be used by rangers pawns. Some say they used them few and far between, while others claim that they simply were unable to use these skills because of some coding error. Regardless, it's certainly agreed that prior to this patch the skills were used very little to not at all by pawns. Now rangers will employ all their skills appropriately.

I've heard magic archers are great too, but I haven't played it myself

grand scension dagger skill on MA is awesome - used with vortex trail might be a good idea too. Explosive rivet and the party status buff are both very handy also.

Assassin does get the best stat boost to STR when levelling though.

Grand Ascension and Explosive Rivets are two awesome skills. Explosive Rivets sort of make up for not being able to use Explosive Arrows as a MA, but I still prefer Tenfold Flurry with those. :p

I just noticed that you can cover and uncover the pawns helmet when you view their details in the Rift. Is it possible to do this on your main when playing them?

Nope. It auto-opens/hides depending on whether you're in GS or outside. The option exists solely to let you see how the face of the pawn looks before hiring :(

Just picked this game up for the 360. I really, really want to like it, but there are just so many instances of "what in the christ am I doing" in the first few hours.

That, and having this one lone bandit hiding in the middle of some really weak bandits suddenly start one-shotting my entire party sent my "frustration meter" right off the charts.

Has anyone had any success selling demo codes? In this case for PS3.

Also what are some simple tips to prevent characters from becoming too overpowered and making the game boring?

I don't think there is really any way to do that. Maybe:

-Do not explore and only go to where quests are sending you.
-Run away from the big exp mobs like Chimeras.
-Keep the board quests for the end.
-Always bring maximum amount of pawns to get less exp.

I write this and it does not seems like a fun way to play the game haha... It's one of the game greatest flaw I guess.

The RE6 demo? Keep in mind that the actual game disc is required to access the demo.

As for your second question, you don't really become too overpowered until after end-game.

God's had his chance.
That and adding equipment/weapon swaps on the fly. So much COMBO!

Oh my god... if they only stole the hot swap favorites on the d pad i would flip out. You could customize and practice so intensely we could be buidling dmc combo builds right now. Imagine the skill videos...

hopefully on the sequel ... which is so day 1 at this point they might as well travel through time and give it to me yesterday.

I think it's kind of impossible :p

but you won't be overpowered the entire game, it does get easy midway through but there are a few points in the game where you get some challenging mobs again so it's not exactly a cakewalk all the way through.

If you find it just too easy, toss away a pawn or two, but regardless the game finds a way because you get more exp the less pawns you hire.

Okay, what in the hell.

I was going to escort some guy to Shadow Fort, but I decided to take a trip back to the capital to upgrade my main character and my main pawn. Naturally, my main pawn decided to take a plunge off of a cliff, bled out in an area I couldn't even get to, and was sent back to the rift. "Okay," I thought to myself. I'll just go to the capital and activate a rift stone.

... But I'm not seeing any rift stone here. And the only vague piece of advice I could get elsewhere was to go out of some western gate (which an NPC is blocking off due to some bullshit reason). Please do not tell me I have to walk back to the encampment to get my main pawn back.

I've had a constantly challenging run playing as a sorc using only the main pawn also as a sorc. Both have never used any other vocation except for the starting mage. I don't recommend this if you're only playing for the first time though.

Even more challenging than this would be a mage only solo run, but I think it would be impossible at many points to progress.

You could always swap to using crap equipment to challenge yourself if you feel overpowered. I had a run where I beat the dragon with rusty daggers.

You need to have the quest that asks you to report to the pawn guild to get to the rift stone.

There's a rift stone in the pawn guild in gran soren, it's actually the first main story quest you start there

Cool, I had the quest, but the NPC still blocked the way. I had to actually talk to the Innkeeper in order to be able to get past. But everything is cool now, got my main pawn back and got a vocation change to now pretend like I'm Guts from Berserk with this huge ass Twohander.

If you want the Guts armor, you'll have to beat 3 trolls in The Ancient Quarry west of Gran Soren so that a merchant can set up shop there. An easy way to beat them is using Mystic Knight and use a lightning bolt spell with the staff. I tried to beat them with swords, daggers, heavy swords, and it just wouldn't work.

You forgot to try bows. Shooting it in the face puts it into a stun loop for an easy victory.

I've always just slashed ogres in the face with a sword til it drops, early in the game I'd just toss some oil and fire them up (not sure if it does anything much, but whatever, lol.)

I never ever used the bow until way late into the game, then I knew what I was missing out on lol. The trolls would always drop kick me and nearly take away all of my health when I tried using the sword. Had no idea slashing them in the face was their weak spot.

When in doubt, attack the head. Of anything.

I actually can't believe they are not nickel and diming us with haircuts dlc other than that one pack at the beginning (and I think they don't really look that good)

It's my only weakness.

I bought it =(
And yeah they aren't that good. I'm tempted to buy the new voice and color DLC too. I'm a big sucker for customization options.

haha, goat on the chimera uses ice spell, blocked it and the chimera jumped right into me before my shield animation finishes and died from the hit, guess it didn't have much health left.

So I made Geralt of Rivia for my pawn... or tried to anyway. It doesn't look as good as I'd hope.

I think I might already be overleveled. I just reached Gran Soren and I'm level 12. Things going pretty smoothly. I remember people complaining about the Witchwood quest, but I was able to handle that well enough.

Yea, all (storybased) quests are pretty much doable as soon as you have access to them, only difference is probably the vocation and the gears they have on that are making things harder. The progression is quite linear.
