So the enchantment has to be from a spell? I've been using a mace that is permanently enchanted with Fire, but I guess that doesn't help it. However, even when my pawn casts a fire enchantment on me and the dual cannons turn all fiery, it doesn't seem to do that much damage except to enemies that are already super weak (goblins, harpies, wolves).

Does the spell look at weapon damage to determine how much damage each blast does? Is it the weapon's physical or magic damage?

Weapons with permanent elemental will still shoot out magic element balls (without the graphical effect). If you have a weapon enchanted by spell, the magic cannon you cast will be have the fancy elemental effects, like you said if you cast a magic cannon with fire enchanted sword (spell) the ball will glow red.

I'm not entirely sure of the differences though interms of damage between the 2. I usually just swap swords because of how long it takes to cast the enchantment (especially against dogs), and I just want the freeze/burning properties. Damage for magic cannon and enchantments however should be based on your magic stats, and since permanent elemental weapons have high magic stats, they should be capable enough.

Disclaimer: I've avoided any info about this game prior to getting it (on Tuesday) so apologies of the following is stupid:

Can I please ask for some advice? I've got to the rift stone in the encampment where you can download other people’s pawns. In the choice of pawns it presented me with were loads of level 6s and then two from people on my friends list. These two were over level 45 and cost nothing to hire so I took them on. Now though I’m worried I’ve broken the game as they just seem to splat anything we come across before I’ve had chance to react. Am I ruining the game? Is it possible to solo the game to remove this problem?

Characters on your friendlist are free for you to hire, and yea if they are high levels, they will ruin the game, by default the game searches for characters at your level (you could search for whatever level you want clicking on the rift stone)

The game is ok if your group is at the same level as you especially early on, but you could hire less if you want, it's entirely up to you and how you'd like to play, but you should probably be keeping pawns around your level

Cool, thanks for the advice, I'll dump the high level pawns then. Was getting jealous of their equipment anyway.

You think the game would limit you to hiring pawns at or below your level but oh well.

As Anteater said, you can stick to pawns of your level. If 3 pawns are still making things too easy, drop one of them. Soloing the game is possible, but it's difficult and I don't recommend it for someone playing their first run.

fuck man, I think the sorcerer pawn ate my Sour Ambrosial Meat, I needed that.

Wish I could write my own message when I send the pawns back.

You can always transfer items from the pawns to yourself. That’s what I always do when they carry more rare (or needed) items, so there is no risk of them eating them.

hahah like

"I hope you pawn gets food poisoning from that sour ambrosial meat, damm glutton!"

Dammit I should never have shown my husband the water god's altar when he first started playing. He wasn't that impressed by the game until he went into that dungeon. Now he's so obssessed I canny even get time to play my own game!!!

Got my Mage to a reasonable assortment of good skills so I switched to mystic knight. But found out when all kitted out, she's just on Average weight. So I swapped to Fighter to see if I can get me a skill to increase my carrying capacity.

I miss my staff and it levitating features :(

Yeah, it was my fault, I was the one that gave it to him because my character was overweight, lol, didn't occur to me that he would eat it.

Well just killed my first Griffin that kept attacking me near gran soren, the bandits nearby were a pain in the ass, the class is really capable but I find it lacking a bit on damage unless I switch to a staff.

I thought I ran into another meat or something when a box popped up on screen, then I looked in my inventory and the meat was gone, then I know it was a consuming item box :(

maybe the patch fixed something about stamina. i noticed, when i last played the game, that i could run and run and run and my stamina went away. i went into start -> status and all of my pawns had still full stamina. (i have not played since the last patch).

now i see the picture above with a tired pawn and hear about pawns consuming stamina boosting items (like ambrosial meat) so, that's another thing Patch 1.02 was good for maybe ...

Yeah, understand.

Also, those pawns do stealth looting. There are times they aren’t even in the screen when I open up a chest and bam! they are right there when it is open. And when I go to pick it up, I see them squatting as well and hear the “What’s this?”

You fucker. Of course I just take it away from them if I need it, but even still.

There's a sour ambrosial meat that respawns in the same crate every time in the quarry, it's about halfway down the quarry, in one of the two large square crates that spawn side by side, just next to the main path.

edit: Speaking of sorcerer pawns, I noticed that at high levels most sorcerer and mage pawns are basically half naked strippers. Seriously wtf!

Where can you find snakes? I picked up the “Extermination” quest for snakes, and although it says I’ve killed 3 of them, I have no idea where. I’ve only gone as far as Gran Soren.

get in jail (hit a guard) and break out. in the sewers are several snakes. also in the well down in cassardis is at least one. don't get scared like me every time -.-

Ok, the well in Cassardis is probably where I killed the snakes at. I’ve been down there several times, just don’t know where I killed them at in the well.

As for attacking guards and being thrown in jail, is that going to affect my affinity? And what happens to my pawns when thrown in jail? They go with me?

I don’t want to affect someone else’s pawn negatively if it lowers affinity or they get some sort of negative mark on them.

I haven’t run into any caves as of yet. Well, unless you want to count Dripstone cavern. But again, not sure where I actually ran into them inside there.

I was actually looking for an area where I could kill them now.

I am willing to attack the guards and get thrown in jail, but I don’t want to if it affects my affinity with them.

There is a bunch in the cave under Cassardis. They are closer to the exit that leads past the training camp.

Ahh yes, I remember exactly where that is at. Will have to go back there to kill some more.

Also, do those coin pouches respawn? Made quite a bit of gold in that room.

So I switched to Fighter last night and delved into Everfall for the first time. Damn that place is pretty hardcore. I encountered the Ur-Dragon, but ran my ass out of there. One of the following floors contained another Dragon (Drake?) that damn near wiped the floor with me before I could escape and call it a night.

What kind of party makeup are you all using?

Right now I'm a level 50 Fighter (vocation level 4) with a level 50 Mage as my main Pawn, and I'm currently hiring a level 55 Fighter and level 55 Sorcerer as my backup pawns.

Also, is there anything worth doing in the post-game world besides Everfall?

Coin pouches don't respawn in the open.

A balanced party. Warrior (Arisen), Ranger (Pawn), Fighter, Mage. It's been working out well for me.

As for post-game, it's pretty much all about Everfall. You can explore Gransys for the new encounters like the Wyrm atop the Bluemoon Tower.

So is the only way to get to the sewer system through the jail?

Yeah.

I have a question about NG+:

Will the game track the progress of my current quests in any way? That is, let's say I finish tons of billboard quests right now. Will they be marked as finished in NG+ as well, or will they reappear so I have to complete them again?

I'm a completionist (with ONE failed quest so far, gah) and am curious how this works.

I would like to know this as well. Plus I am curious if it keeps all your items or just your equipped ones?

Mind if I ask why the Ranger? I've never played as one or hired a pawn of that vocation, so I'm wondering why you included it.

If I did hire one, it would be to replace the Sorcerer in my party.

I'm just trying out something new. On 3 playthroughs I always had a Sorcerer in my party. Having a Ranger pawn is pretty cool, though. There's a Bow skill for Rangers that lowers enemy defenses, so that's a huge plus. Also, Tenfold Flurry and Swirling Arrow are beastly.

I'm not sure if the quests you've completed will get tracked in the quest log on your NG+, but one thing is for sure is that you won't have to do the quests you've already completed for the Hero Trophy/Achievement (if you're going for that). The game will just know which ones you've already done. Also, every quest will reappear again in NG+.

I got grudge sucked!
I went to Tainted Mountain, lvl 52 and got my shit ruined by hell hounds and succubi. Hmmm...Not sure what to do because I've done all the major quests upto this point.

I wish your Pawns could use special arrows like the Blast arrows. Tenfold + Blast arrows + enemies doused in oil = death.

Oh. Been using your pawn and i like it. ..

Pretty deafly stuff.. Buahaha.. Seriously, its working awesome

Once you've got strategies for most of the encounters in the EF, can build your party based on that. Certain kinds of pawns are more useful than others, for example I don't see the need for a mage pawn. Healing items are plentiful and so is money, and you never actually want your pawns to heal themselves with a spell when they could actually be attacking instead. Rangers are great, for example, good rangers can one hit kill a cyclops with a gamble shot to the eye. Sorcerers are only good when they know exactly what spell to cast (bolide vs hydra, gicel vs gorechimera etc) and only if you can adequately cover the sorc long enough for a spell to be cast. The best sorc ability is, unfortunately not even a spell, and sorcs with actual spells equipped rarely use it.

Yes and no. Tracking is hidden, billboard quests are all redo-able. However all non-billboard quests that you have already done are recorded and do not need to be redone for it to count for the "hero" achievement.

After getting Fighter up to vocation level 5, I got kind of bored of how limited the class felt and went back to Mystic Knight. Then I decided to finally change my Mage main pawn into a Sorcerer. She had something like 40k vocation points saved up.

Since I will now be without a dedicated healer, I decided I need a reliable way to heal my entire party. Therefore, I brought about 400 flasks to the magical spring and spent something like an hour filling them with spring water!

At least now I don't have to worry about healing for a while.

I just buy potent greenwarish from the shop in gran soren. The only healing item that pawns need is the player, instant recovery to 50% when they die is way more effective than any item you can obtain easily. The only one who matters is the arisen, because when you die the game ends.

Yeah, fighter is kind of crap compare to the hybrid classes, but it's really good to start out with, they get pretty good stats growth for melee/tanks, decent HP (not as high as warrior), highest def and decent attack so they're kind of unstoppable early on with decked out armors and a shield (those bandits near witchwood were lulz).

And they get sinew at rank 5, Prescience for easy perfect block at rank 7, I think all their augments could be gotten at rank 8 too without having to grind the last rank, so it seems to be a stepping stone for MK, it's too bad they don't have a lot of unique skills, maybe shield bash to break guards and armors but it doesn't seem worth it (I never used them ever).
