Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

This game needs a remodelling system, use up 2 pieces of armor/weapon to make a new one with the looks from one and stats from the other. The way a character looks plays such a huge role with the pawn system, and imo the best looking armors are never the best ones.

does it matter if my pawns can't keep up?

They'll magically warp next to you if they get too far. It's the same for escorts (with the exception of a 1 or 2 that intentionally go too slow and stop to look for stuff)

Started this game, seems really neat so far, combat is super fun.

I'm playing as a strider.
What are some good skills to invest in and what should I avoid? Mostly just spamming scarlet kisses and ensnare.

Skull crusher is extremely powerful. Also Dashing Winds is good if you're fighting multiple tough enemies since you rarely get hit while doing it.

Man this game is really fun, I wish I played it sooner.

Only negative so far is the shear amount of bandits the game is chucking at me.

So what does the bronze one do? Can I just hawk it for gold, or is there someone specifically who wants it?

They all upgrade the store items, the better the item the better the upgrades, so there's no point in giving the bronze. They also give discounts if you have them in the inventory, but there are other items that give better discounts then the bronze. (don't remember which ones right now)

Badge of Merit give a 8% discount for buy / sell at shops
Bronze idol give a 10% discount for buy / sell at shops
Silver idol give a 20% discount for buy / sell at shops
Gold idol give a 30% discount for buy / sell at shops

Forgery of the idols keep their effects and you can still finish quests with them but the quest rewards will change in most cases.
If multiple idols/badges are on the player character , then only the most powerfull discount will be applied.

Are there any news on patches/new contents? Last I recall Sven mention there are plans for "something"

My question is, when will we be seeing some real content for the game? Balance/mechanic/ai tweaks to make the enemies consistently harder, scaling NG+/hard/super hard mode options? Maybe some changes to Ur-dragon so that its more fair to newer players, and fixes to the the climbing camera? More Everfall bosses added to the world map in post-game? Framerate/loading, and pop-in improvements? And how about DLC of new, sprawling dungeons and locations with all new enemies and bosses? Maybe some content that expands/further explains some details of the story?

There's a variety of ongoing discussions about the future, but there is definitely something in the wings that will address at least one or two of your issues that I can't talk about yet. I'm going to have to request a bit more patience.

1 or 2 issues will (might) be addressed out of a dozen the guy has mentioned!

Did they ever hint if a PC release for this might be in the works? I always wanted to try this but I don't have a PS3 anymore.

Hey duders.

How active would you say the DD community is now?

I haven't played the game since close to launch and I kind of want to start over fresh, but my current pawn has collected a good deal of rift crystals in the time that I've been inactive, and I'd hate to lose them if the community has slowed down a great deal and rift crystals are hard to come by...

Well, once you play the Pawns are on the server forever so I don't see how it could ever be a problem.

I also never used Rift cristals, I always hired pawns @ my level.

So I was originally super hype for DD, but life got in the way, and now I'm replaying the demos ans trying to see I'd it is the next game I want to jump into. The first little bit was boring but that was because you have no stats and skills, the game gets a lot better right? Because I was enjoying certain elements, but others fell flat. Also my pawn is hot, but ky guy is a bit of a derp.

I'm currently on NG+ and going for the "Hero" trophy.I just realized though that i killed the female bandit's captain (she attacked me) so now she can't give me one of the quests that are needed to complete in order to get the trophy. And if i remember correctly i don't think she respawns is she? :/

So do i have to restart or should i continue and get the quest in NG++?

Also does the game "remember" which quests were completed from previous playthroughs or do i have to complete all of them in a single playthrough?

Seriously the quest system in this game is one of the worst i've ever seen.

She'll respawn in 7 days, just don't kill her Cyclops.

And yes, the game remembers previously completed quests for the Hero trophy. You can check the History to see which ones you already did.

the 2orb at the top of each wing of the ur dragon are a pay in the ass to reach ..
is there a proper method to reach them ?

i beat the dragon and got the trphy but i went with a tedious method that i can't describe right now

1 trophy for platinium left...

Magick Archer, Hunter Bolt.

wait that's the proper méthod ?

because it's what i was using ..
Well

Platinium Get

The game , this game is not perfect by any means but it does some things very well
99 hours 35 minutes played

I'm out . it was a great ride .. will come back if they patch a hard mode , or a new zone to explore or new dongeons
And i'll wait for the sequel for the next generation of consoles.

8/10

Good god, I forgot how addictive this game was. I spent 2 hours just running around uncovering parts of the Gran Soren map. I ran into a dragon that kicked my ass, and a chimera I ground to dust. Just completed the Shadow Fort, so I'm not too far in (about level 25 though). I've been doing a ton of sidequests.

I really hate myself, sometimes.

I spend more time creating characters and deleting them because I don't like how they look instead of actually playing the game.

Bleh.

I'm having issues getting the Golden Idol. I just did the Escort Quest, like 3 times with the last one following every requirement. Still haven't gotten it yet. Anyone else have this issue?

Did you talk to Symone again after completing the quest? I may be remembering wrong, but you don't get it upon quest completion, only when you speak to her again after completion.

Holy shit, I did not know that you can remake your arisen and pawn fairly easily.

Well, this will make NG+ a lot more interesting after remaking my male arisen into a female (and my female pawn into a burly Liam Neeson-looking dude).

When's the best time to change your vocation?

I started as a fighter with the intent of becoming a Magic Knight, but I don't know whether I should continue to level fighter at level 15 or go ahead and switch.

The beauty of the game is that it's totally up to you. You can for instance switch between vocations early in to get some of the better Core skills or play until one vocation is fully leveled to get the full feeling of it, then move on and during NG+ play with your preferred one.
You could also go as far as switching vocations just before you're about to level and get the benefits of the stats that you want

This is one of the games that really sold me on the job system.

Being able to switch classes and try things out was great instead of being locked into say a single progression like fighter>warrior like in standard games.

Fighter has some useful augments that you can use on other classes like the increased weight limit among other things.

Wow.. so I finally took a stab at the "Final Battle". I'd been leaving it until I was satisfied with how much side stuff I had done. That was an interesting battle.. albeit a bit too easy for my taste. That being said, post-game is pretty interesting so far. I'm in the Everfall now and having a blast. I used to hate how dark this game was (the gamma not the themes lol) but now I'm totally loving it. Glad there is so much replay value in this sucker, too!

By "Final Battle" did you mean
the Dragon?
.

Because if so, you should probably know that you haven't beaten the game yet.

I also did the ''final battle'' last evening and after 2 tries and coming close to dropping the game on easy,I finally killed the mother...after,I had the small
cutscenes, with the name of the voice actors on beautfiful drawings of their characters in game, then I woke up in the small starting village and got a bunch of Dragon forged stuff
...now I have to head back to Soren...this will probably be my ending for now, been playing this game since launch(I paused for a few weeks playing through Darksiders II)....there is something I want to try though with one of the dragon forged item I got but I will save first lol...

oh oh you're NOT done yet ..

The best bosses are waiting for you and you haven't seen the "real" ending

I heard this is like dark souls, is that true?

Not really, it's more of an action game than dark souls, while dark souls has a better focus on stats/weapon/gears/level progression, DD focuses on action. Stats and other rpg elements are really poor due to the low difficulty of the game.

I've just started playing this recently and I'm absolutely loving it. I've screwed myself over a few times (e.g. I didn't know there were idols other than the bronze one, so just gave that straight to Caxton and screwed myself out of all the best buyable weapons and armour, and also by not exiting the castle from the front doors and so never meeting the duchess) which has given the shits - not the best game design in my opinion - but the game itself has more than made up for it.

I can't say that I really have a very good understanding of the underlying RPG mechanics or the best way to exploit the vocation system, but the beauty of this game (difficulty-wise) is that it doesn't really matter.

I went all fighter for a very long time (~40 levels) but have just recently decided to switch to sorcerer and having an absolute blast at the new style of gameplay. I have 6 red wax seals in sorcerer now (whatever those are called) and 2000+ hit points so even though I was a lot weaker at the start of the change, the fact that I had so many hit points meant that I was able to struggle through it and I'm now feeling very comfortable :)
