Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

I'd say that from starting the game to having a full party of pawns and going on whichever quests I chose took me about an hour to an hour and a half. I didn't spend much time on character creation and basically just went with a slightly tweaked default appearance for both my main character and my pawn, though, so adjust accordingly based on your need to customize.

Cheers. I'm not a huge appearance-customisation guy, and Iwon;t be basing my guys on anything other than my imagination so that shouldn't take more than an 30 minutes.

I want to recreate my freakishy tall and insanely proportioned hag from the demo, but there's no chance I'm willing to actually go through the game with her by my side :D

From my trip back into the everfall to see if I missed anything, to and from the spring escort quest.

Holy hell, I'm getting crazy amounts of rift crystals and items from other people. I just got a Wakestone Shard and a Jewel of Time. Not to mention the 115K RC, all in a few hours.

I've never even seen a Jewel of Time yet!

I'd be careful with the shard in case it's a forgery, some people have been having fun with that.

Is it just me or is there like, 1 male pawn for every 50 female pawns? It makes me happy that I did my part and made a male pawn for the world to use.

This is actually the only game where I've made a female main character. I guess I just thought she fills the strider/assassin role more appropriately than a guy, or something. Or maybe I just wanted an awesome sidekick who is cooler than I am.

I think I really like this even though I sorta hated it when I started.
In the same boat. The game does such a shitty job explaining itself in the opening hours but it is really enjoyable once you figure out what the hell you are doing.

Hit up my pawn, kids. Pawn's name is Xanas

My main character is a 60-year old looking man.

What would a forgery do? Completely remove someone instead of revive them?

Now I want to see what happens if the shard IS a fake! D:

It probably just won't work.

Is this a glitch or is he just...weird like that?
Pretty sure he's just weird, but I've never seen him do that.

Keep getting my escorts killed. 2 down, ? to go. Really feel the regret since you can't retry them. Good game design in that sense, though. True moments of terror as I watch them fall to a simple bandit or get stomped by a Cyclops ambush.

Forget that. One of the few times i've ever reloaded a game right before it decided to auto-save. Just try to be as stealth as possible.

A few questions when can I change to rouge? I am level 8 right now I believe.

Also how do I get rid of poison? I looked through my items and had none that would get rid of it.

You can change vocations at level 10 when you go to an inn.

To cure poison, you either need an item to do so or a pawn with a spell to cure it(and other ailments).

So I found the Ur Dragon. He's a fucking bad-ass, I haven't been able to do any damage to him, weird thing though is that among the people who've killed him so far, it says that TWO of them are level infinity. Like the infinity symbol is placed where everybody else would have a number.

I see thank you, I got poisoned by a bat on the rat killing quest, and had to go to an inn to get rid of it. Was just making sure there is an item to get rid of it.

Start combining plants you pick up. Hell, start combining everything you can and see what you get. I've made many potions and cures like the one that cures blindness and one that cures when you lose you ability to speak(haven't seen a chance to use that one yet). Skeleton keys can be made with ore and those wooden slave carrier things with the 3 holes in it for the arms and head(sorry I forget the name).

I was traveling back to Gran Soren from Windbluff Tower and I saw these guards who were
bringing a... dead giant chicken to the duke for a trophy.
I knew it was in the game, but I didn't expect to see it first like that.

Just found the snakeskin purse.
What a pain. It's basically underwater.

From the bridge just north of the capital I waded east through the river and poked into any ripple that I saw.

Changed my vocation to Ranger, many skills didn't carry over. Still, I have that bad ass Longbow. Is there any other place where I can find ranger weapons? Shop in Gran Sorn Castle only had 1.

Picked up my copy earlier today but won't be playing until morning. It's been a really long day. Still though I'm excited since I spent a few hours in the demo designing my Arisen and main Pawn this past week!

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Thinking about starting over, ended up selling all of my gear on accident and I still don't have much in the way of gold.

Quick question though, is there any reason to play a Mage over a Sorcerer or is a Sorcerer basically a better Mage?

Sorc can't heal like a mage can, the more damaging spells on sorc tend to take awhile to cast. I level'd my pawn up as both just to get the last 2 augments for sorc and use her as a mage for extra heals.

Sorcerer basically fucks everything up, but have nothing to heal the grey health. I don't think I could never not have a mage with me for that.

I mentioned that earlier, and after a few quests another one showed up in the market. I don't know if it's a Strider thing but weapons and armor seem to be more scarce with this class. Except for the daggers.

I heard it's random, since another guy here found it in a cave. No fucking way I'm wandering around rivers hoping to find a purse.

Just about every class, except maybe the Mage, is OP when you use them right and use the exploits that every enemy has.

My mage has been kicking the shit out of just about everything. Get yourself a decent staff and upgrade it, forgo the pew-pew spells for CC'ing walls of fire etc. Healing isn't such a big deal, but buffing everyone is sucky yeah. I've just switched to Sorc and hired another mage who was set up to be a healer/buffer so I can focus on the destroying of shit.

One day I'll get round to climbing on stuff, right now I just want to see the world burn.

I had so much trouble with this. Like goddamn.

I usually see him if you head toward the royal quarter inbetween the inn and blacksmith, but he only appeared later in the day for whatever reason.

Holy crap. I have now got way over 80 hours in this game and still finding crazy new things or seeing new things at every turn.

Saw 2 random pawns taking down a legion of bandits. Totally working them. Saw what appeared to be goblins herding the bison creatures but I was far enough away to have mistaken that.

Discovered a ton of new weapons and potions. Game feels so unique with each class damn. Almost not wanting to win it again. And seriously considering another playthrough with a different class.

I got the quest for the Water God's alter, but the thing is I already went to the dungeon and fought the
giant cyclops. I couldn't continue on afterwards because of the water levels, so I just left.
. Did I screw it up? I'm kinda worried that it'll conflict with the quest I just got for it.

I did the same thing. It respawns, don't worry.

I'd love the freaking game if i could figure out how to equip the Lantern in the dark or in a dungeon...kinda sick of walking in complete darkness.

I Have 5 flasks of oil and two lanterns. One assigned to Arisen the other to my main pawn.
yet I can NEVER equip the lantern nor does it toggle on when it gets dark .... which is kinda important.

When i hit the inventory screen no tools or hlpr items are ever present...only armor and weapon..WTH???
in town i can see everything when i sell to a merchant.

I'm surely missing something..god i hope so.... or it's a VERY stupid mechanic...or bug.

If you're on the 360 the back button brings up items and tools. I would assume select would do the same on the PS3.

Holy crap! My pawn came back from being borrowed by 3 people today. Got a total of 31k in Rift Crystals from them. Now i'm at 77k in Rift Crystals.

I dunno what factors decide how many crystals you get, but so far it's awesome. =D

Rift crystals serve no other purpose than for renting pawns right?
