Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Quick question: Just reached Gran Soren (lvl 12) and I have a couple of holdover quests that involve going to Witchwood. How do I reach it? There's an icon that looks like a dungeon entry/exit symbol floating out in an unmarked, unconnected map area showing where it is, but I don't have a clue if I've missed an obvious route to it.

Guys, where can I find some golems? I have a quest to kill 3 for 75k, and I could use that money right now.

There's one on the way to
Bluemoon Tower

Go a little above the Encampment, you should see a path going left, take it and hold left side until you get there.

Thanks, thats the path with the back-door to Dripstone isn't it? With the boulder trap at the top?

Turns out the Magick Archer immolation + R2 technique works for humans as well. Stagger them then grab them, and take them on a fiery piggyback ride! This game is awesome.

oh man, Golem ambush was something else. i had no idea how to put a dent in that thing, and when it got enraged...wow.

Definitely loving what i've seen of DD so far.

The frame rate can drop into the single digits and is generally not very consistent, but it's kinda aaalright. Didn't break the game for me at least.

Aah, it's not THAT bad. - I just finished the game on PS3, it maybe dropped to single digit fps twice. It generally stays in the 20-25 frames per second realm.

Having just beat the game, it feels like not only were Berserk Armor sets included in the game but the Berserk Story seemed to have rubbed off on DD as well. - anybody else familiar with the Berserk story get that vibe?

It says the location of the male bandits you should be killing. If you're killing other kinds, it won't count. I was wondering the same thing, too.

The thing is...I was in the exact place they told me to be. Cleared the whole camp and everything outside of it. No go. Finally once I went back after they had respawned it started counting them.

I'll say this though. Other than that one instance where they weren't triggering I haven't really run into any bugs at all. Why can't Skyrim do this?

The only place I had genuine single digits was with the Ur-Dragon. Towards the end of that fight it drops into the 5 or maybe even less.

I'm really bipolar on this game at the moment. I've played about 10 hours now I guess, and I'm beginning to feel like there's an even split of things I love and things I hate. This sounds silly but I guess I'm more interested in seeing how a sequel turns out than playing much more of this.

When you send them back, the items on your pawns will supposedly go to your storage. This also should happen when they die. I phrase it like this because I haven't confirmed it firsthand, but it's what the game says.

I can confirm that's what happens. I was randomly adventuring and on a high mountain. I got ambushed and within the chaos two of my pawns fell off a cliff and the other one I left behind running from something. lol

I had found a hammer with 303atk (high for me even now) and one of the pawns was carrying it. I was like "oh man, I hope my items are ok!" Found they were automatically sent to storage cuz the hammer was in there. I also sent some pawns back without taking away their items and the same thing happened.

I adore Berserk and I don't know what you're talking about. :p

At level 38, I switched from a Magick Archer to an Assassin. I had my reservations about the switch, but I think I won't regret this one bit. The night time augments are very awesome (70% boost to strength/magick at night time), and the skills are fun - Powder Charge knocks big enemies off their ass.

I am constantly rolling with three female companions. It's not even because I prefer it, but because I like hiring a mage and a sorcerer. The majority of magic users that appear for me are female.

So I've been really enjoying the game thus far - although I can't for the life of me figure out how to rate the pawns I've hired. Am I missing something really obvious?

I'm rolling with two mages named Jesus and Meku Mega-something. I was looking at their stats and not the names.

Fun times.

I actually hired Sansa because she was in the range I wanted and had the magic I wanted equipped pre-hand and upgraded, but then I stumbled onto Arya who was a Fighter class and I was like 'oh man this is rad why didn't I think of making my own main pawn a character from Game of Thrones?' :(

Although disappointingly, the Sansa pawn doesn't look much like Sansa at all

Loving this game so much, skimming to try and avoid spoilers in the thread but I do have some questions.

- Does damage/effectiveness differ depending on if you equip the skill primary or not? I mainly ask for my main pawn mage since I noticed the offensive number is higher in status (or rather the number outside of parenthesis isnt there) for secondary skills.

-After creating main pawn I was taken to training grounds in the encampment. I selected 'not now' when the guy was wanting to train me or something and now the gates to training grounds are 'shut tight' whether day or night. Did I miss any quests/achievements?

-I heard about witchwood quests failing if you enter gran soren so I've made it a point to do everything before escorting the hydra head. The only quest left I have is the last escort quest that would take me over by Witchwood. I'm afraid if I do it I will get (even more) sidetracked by the unexplored area there and find a bunch of new quests. Should I go ahead and do story quest hydra head now?

I am taking this game so slow, it will last me forever. I think I spent 5-6 hours in first town before even stepping outside. I felt like I discovered some grand secret when I whipped out my sword by one of the npc's and he dropped a fishing bobble, and the other npc dropped a trowel and workbench (thinks that what it was). I am a little worried I will overlevel and have crappy pawn choices, but we shall see. (I've thought the only pawns that show in rift are ones that are in same area, if its all just level based then I shan't worry).

My created pawn is named Sansa, and my characters name is Rhaegar. I went fully GOT on this game for names.

What's up with the Witch's Brew quest? I ran my ass all the way from Gran Soren to the Witchwood and she's not there. I did her escort not too long ago, do I need to wait a few game days for her to get back or something?

It's so annoying to run all that way and have no one there.

I was looking for the Ancient Quarry and ended up finding the Watergod's Altar and spent like an hour just exploring in here. It's like the experience people say they have with Skyrim, but since I can't fast travel, I kinda value the journey and enjoy traveling...

Why the hell did I get arrested? I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything. Inside the Duke's Castle. I didn't even loot any chests. I just came in and headed for the audience chamber. Was I arrested for... sprinting?

You can't walk around the castle at night or else they'll arrest you.

Ah, that makes sense, then. Pretty sure it was nighttime, too.

So, I did the quest Trials and Tribulations. The accused
Fournival
was found guilty, even though I purchased the
writs of innocence from Reynard
. The bastard led me to believe I could swing it either way I wanted with these.

So I'm sold on this game after hearing some impressions but I'm torn on which version. I am very sensitive to both frame drops and screen tearing... So which is worse? When the frames drop on PS3 how often, and how choppy does it get? Is the screen tearing constant on 360?

PS3 has random drops. Some players are getting a low of 10fps once in a great while, others are getting hit with single digit FPS. There is no way to know which you will get but In the last couple days I have played it on 3 PS3 systems and it performed different on each in the same fucking battle its just random and terrifying to someone thinking of purchasing the game. My original PS3 game experience was on a 60 and the FPS was fucking terrible. Much better on the newer slim but still some pretty big drops. Tons of people in this thread have witnessed a wide range of FPS issues while others barely have any.

360 tearing is at the bottom and top. As is consistent with MT Framework games the 360 has less tearing if you set it to 720p lots of people here have posted back after changing it and seeing less. The framerate on the 360 is considerably more even than the PS3. The 360 needs to be set to the proper settings in your console settings though. Autosensing the reference level will leave you with a RGB output which results in very blurred visuals.
Pick intermediate for the reference level and Colot Space choose YCbCr709. Again don't leave the 360 on auto.

Since both have issues ALWAYS choose what is the system you have the best friends list and on and the controller that you like the most.

Balls... just got my first set of quest lockouts. Don't do (complete anyway) Barnaby's quest in the Pawn Guild if you have "Lost & Found" still undone.

What do you mean by this? Do you get locked into a character's affection? I've maxed out Madeleine's and the Duke's wife, so far.

So what if my affection is maxed with 2 characters? I have Madeleine and the Duchess - both good options - but I wonder which one the game would choose for me?

I have no clue and kinda want the guide in order to figure out these kinds of details.
I had 3 that I thought I maxed out, Madeline, the queen, and Selene, but I got Madeline in the end. I guess although they seemed to max out they probably weren't, or maybe it might be the last/most current person you have the highest affinity with. Cause Madeline was the last person for me and I ended up with her.

The lack of fast travel is exactly WHY I am enjoying myself so much. I can run past weaker enemies if I want or easily kill them for reagents. But the constant travel just feels right now me. And I love Skyrim but this just feels perfect with the portstones allowing you to do some quick but limited fast travel as a medium solution.

I'm thinking about restarting my game once I beat the post-game. Kinda want to experience leveling up all over again.

Is there any way I could take my save data file I have now off my PS3 and put it back later? Not exactly sure how it would work with the whole online deal.

Best thing to do is to make a new username for PS3 or Xbox and start a new game.

I have now beat it twice and I can tell you if you do different classes it truly is worth play playing through a second time. Its glorious.

ha this is exactly what I have. I just finished creating my main pawn, made her a Mage, and enlisted a female sorcerer as well to go with my female Strider. I figure three's enough--I came close to enlisting a male fighter but held off. I still haven't had the chance to really put in time overall though. Been playing piecemeal and it's killing me.

Either make a new profile, or if you want trophies, back up your current save to usb, and then start a new save.

Now hold up a minute, this seems a little off. I get a quest called "
Duchess
in Distress" where you are supposed to, I assume,
save the duchess from the northern manse where she's locked away using the soldiers garb Mirabelle gives you.
But the thing is, as soon as I am given the quest, it fails. Why is this happening?

EDIT: If it helps any, I just did "Deny Salvation" because this wasn't available before it.
