Drake vs Kendrick Lamar

Beefs finally return, not another mumble rap
While remnants of mumble rap still slightly linger, it largely went out of the limelight the minute punk-rap and Tyler The Creator’s style of rap came into the picture.

People like Juice World, Denzel Curry, Vince Staples, Danny Brown, etc., and of course Tyler himself, have been examples of what younger audiences changed to listening to around 2018/2019ish.

Drake, Kendrick, and Cole are actually considered older acts today, much like Jay Z was when these 3 first started growing in popularity.

What time is it?
I feel like people are pretending these Kendrick tracks are good…

That sums up my Kendrick listening experience in general. I bought a few his albums on iTunes a few years ago since they were on sale and everyone spoke so highly. I can't skip the tracks fast enough when they come up on my random playlist. I'm not Drake fan either from what little I've heard. /old

I honestly liked Drake's last track more, but that's the thing about diss tracks. The hardest ones have less of a musical factor and become more of a documentary over ambient music. Kendrick was rapping/talking to him in the most menacing way, so it was like he meant it more. Drake is still in music mode, so even if he says something tangible, it's not going to be as potent. It's been great, but I think Kendrick understands the terms of victory more.

You don't get it, that's what makes Drake's approach so much better.
Drake is still making good music while shitting on Kendrick and Kendrick is like "I really hate you, fuck you".
The longer this goes, Kendrick will sound more and more pathetic. This is high school shit.

I think we are on the same side. I, too, think Drake's tracks are better musically. In this situation though, it's not about what "we" like. It's about what works, and what the public sees as victory. Kendrick might not be making better music, but beef battles aren't solely based on music. The best of the all(to the public), Ether, is barely a track. It's him shitting on Jay so directly, and so carelessly, that it had everyone shook. You can even tell in some of their lines that there was a more harmonic way to say things, but it was more necessary to say it the way they felt, than the way it sounded. I'm with you, but the vast majority are not with us, and it's very clear to see. We don't even know if anything Kendrick said was true, but here we are.

Kendrick Lamar is the most overrated rapper of all time - And Meet The Grahams was just a bunch of nonsense with no proof or merit. Internet just loves his dick, its ridiculous.

The under aged girls part had been known for some time.. I don't know about you, but I perfer not to support known pedos if I can help it.

It's pretty clear Kendrick wanted the smoke and laid a trap and Drake took it. Like Drake didn't even really do anything to get Dot mad like that.

This whole thing kicked off because Drake and Cole called themselves the Big Three with Dot. Like rappers have been calling themselves the greatest since the Run DMC days, and Drake and Cole throw Kendrick's name in out of respect and Kendrick goes "Fuck you for even thinking there's a tier where we coexist."

And of course Drake took the bait because he survived the Pusha T shit and actually got a bump from the Meek beef, and being in some kind of rivalry or competition with Kendrick would reinforce the idea that they're in some kind of league or tier together.

But Kendrick is the best writer in the game right now and Drake is really a terrible writer (and barely writes any of his own shit anyway). And so this whole thing has just been Kendrick brutalizing Drake.

I don't give a shit about the TMZ "I know your secrets" bullshit they seems to infest every beef since the Story of Adidon thing, but Kendrick is really cooking him on the underage girls and culture vulture stuff. Some of those lines are just so fucking brutal. "He's not a colleague, he's a colonizer." Oof.

He's put out like a full EP worth of material and it's downright cinematic at this point. I hope he keeps going until he has an album.

The best part about this is that it's actually a club banger. Like a lot of Kendrick's songs have been these Mr Morale kind of storytelling things, even Euphoria has that long "Let me sit you down" part in the beginning, but this one goes hard and fast and you can dance to it.

People forget that one of the reasons Hit Em Up was so devastating is that it was a fucking great song.

So his claim here is that he went out to a doctor and had them write a prescription for Ambien and Ozempic just to troll Kendrick? Ok, Aubrey. His name is on the bottle/box.

Also in Mother I Sober he says he wasn't molested and that a queer relative was falsely accused, Drake missed the whole fucking point of the song.

EDIT: Calling it The Heart Part 6 is inspired though.

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
It's the sort of response Drake needed to make, and I'm gonna hand it to him, the flow's real good for once - but the lyrical content is completely full of holes.

As above Drake completely missed the point of Mother I Sober and used that as the basis of half the response. Bringing up Millie Brown yourself wasn't a good idea, she's not even been mentioned by Kenny so far in this beef, real slip up, and "I'm too famous to be a paedophile" is hilarious. There's been years of stuff about Drake and teenage girls, meanwhile you've got Kendrick's brother in law telling him to fuck Drake up. Not sure he'd be so keen to say that if he was beating his sister. Dunno.

He's still not coming out of this one on top but it'll be wild to see if the daughter stuff goes any further and if the story planting bait is true.

Drake is obviously lying, the prescriptions have his name on them. He wouldn't go out to a doctor and get a prescription for Ozempic and date rape drugs just to feed to Kendrick, for what purpose?

The shit about the kid who fucking knows. It might be bullshit but it probably wasn't planted by Drake, because if you were going to plant a fake story to own him, it would be something you could clearly disprove. So all this lying and playing games doesn't make me want to believe Drake.

Drake fucked up the rumor anyway, he is digging up some decade old story that was run and then pulled down on a couple sites that a beaten woman was escorted from Kendrick's suite, but the woman described aas white woman, not Whitney, and the story was pulled because they couldn't validate any of it.

Again, no idea if there was any truth to it, who knows, but Drake doesn't have any insider knowledge and it seems like he got details wrong.

We're Living in the Age of Disinformation. Plain and simple.

I didnt think he could come back but wow. Drake won.

And I think its hilarious that even we got tricked. Like the maybach gloves beside the ozempic bottle, like damn I feel dumb now.

Drake: the people who told you those stories are clowns

Also Drake a few lines later: it was me

The song has a good amount of illogical statements and contradictions, good to see a large portion of people are actually hearing the lyrics.

Also the worst song in the beef so far.

If the CIA gave the president bad information that Russia planted, then the CIA would be the clowns here.

It's funny to see the internet (and GAF) flop back and forth like fish about who's side they're taking when more gets revealed. It's literally like seeing this:

To me this has all been a fun ride.

I actually didn't know we had defense forces for both rappers on this site so it has been quite the humorous revelation for me.

Really? The flow is absolute garbage, it's how I can tell he wrote this one himself. There's no kind of rhythm or meter until he gets to the end of each bar, it's all sloppy shit like his dorky Blackberry freestyle he gets clowned on from back in the day.

When he doesn't have a reference track to karaoke, Drake is a dumpster tier rapper, and always has been.

Kendrick started out as a battle rapper... Like Jay-Z, Eminem and LL Cool J (amongst other old school rappers)... Drake never was.
Kendrick is also a storyteller and sharp writer, and one of the best in terms of technical chops.

Drake has a good delivery and that's really it. He can't write, he can't flow, he has nothing to say about anything. This is why he's the favorite rapper of vapid white girls, he's all image and no substance.

If anything that's why he'll survive this. Kendrick is trying to revoke his Black Card, but Drake doesn't really need it.
