Yeah I'll definitely give all the car challenges a shot. Haven't invested anywhere near enough time with the bikes to be anywhere near competitive.

Anyway, PS4K...we got any takers in here?

Personally, I'm looking to upgrade my tv this year to 4k. I'm gonna need an UHD Bluray player so the PS4K sounds like a purchase for me. Though I will hold off till we hear more about its media credentials.

The ps3 was a really good unit as a bluray/media unit. The ps4 has been a step backwards. Hopefully the PS4K is an improvement otherwise no go.

Also, PSVR will be a better experience with PS4K. What to do?

Nope, I won't be supporting this. I'm staying with my old PS4 unless it dies on me and I don't need a 4k player, because I don't own and don't plan on buying a 4k tv. Sadly if the idea picks up Sony will become even more greedy and they'll be releasing a new console once every ~2 years (or maybe eventually once every year like Apple).

Well said. If Sony's gamble with PS4K is successful, then expect to have console upgrades even more often...

My goal is to steer clear of such practices.

On a more ontopic matter, should we try and send a collective "community letter" to Sony regarding Challenges (especially bikes)? Just to let them know that the community for these games is active and that they should support their products.

Already have a 4K TV so depending on the price point I may look to get the machine. I've got the 20th Anniversary edition PS4, so it's quite possible that I should get enough for that to fund the newer model.

I would definitely buy a PS4k. Not that interested in the 4k aspect myself but if it can run games at 1080p 60fps with increased IQ i'm in. I like the idea of a 3-4 year hardware cycle. That being said: Driveclub will probably never get an upgrade now that EVO is closed. Which is a damn DAMN shame!

Another pretty quiet week on the gaf challenge, hopefully the numbers will pick up for next week as we're back in the cars...

Didn't get to play yesterday so thought I'd lose some positions for sure. Actually disappointed I didn't. Afraid we're in the death knell, especially with all the great games coming out this month.

Dirt Rally is preloading. See some of you in there.

Honestly I don't know if that'll work, because since Evo Studios got shot down it's all been quiet on Sony's side. Best case scenario - they're still in a transition and they won't give up on the community. Worst case scenario - they are only focusing on DC VR and they won't be doing anything more than keeping the servers alive for the time being.

Got my copy on it's way and bought a T150 wheel in readiness.

Also, going to EGX Rezzed Saturday and just booked a slot to try out PSVR, can't fkin wait!

Wouldn't it be great if some EVO talent ends up working at Codemasters now? they definitively will benefit from some visual improvements in their engine.

Long time coming, but finally finished grinding out those bikes to 15 today for the Plat.

Now just a shit ton of fame to earn so I can complete the last bunch of Elite levels... Feels like a long way to go!

Kind of melancholy feeling though with all the stars, all the Tour/DLC complete. Such a good game; best racer of the PS4.

Jeez this is the quietest I can remember this thread being :-( I guess when Evo were still involved there was always things to look forward to, improvements we'd like to see and speculation about what was to come, now it just feels like there's nothing left to talk about...

Damn.

Anyway, if anyone else has decided to let dirt rally make you it's bitch you can keep on competing with the DriveCult on this league :-

https://www.dirtgame.com/leagues/league/30226/gaf-driveclub

I'll start a rally soon once I've figured out how to get through one in one piece...

I finally got all trophies on driveclub this afternoon.
100% on driveclub + bikes + all dlc

It's sad that i have so few to look forward to with this game now.

Man I bought the Bike DLC and completely out of my depth. Do people use the rear brake as anything other than for tight turns/hairpins? Any advice welcomed!

Not a bike fan so kinda starting from scratch regards how to not to wobble around the track...

A good tip with the bikes is you can brake and accelerate at the same time - counter intuitive I know but it often does help to tighten your line. The back brake I only use on hairpins, and often (depending on the bike) giving it a handful of throttle works better at bringing the back end around anyway. The biggest adjustment with the bikes is braking earlier and getting a nice flowing line as they don't turn in as well at high speed.

I don't think it's just the thread that is quiet, I think people are playing the game less too since Evo is out. I know that I do. Somehow the game lost a bit of its charm because of this. I will try to get into the DriveCult for Dirt later today. That game is a bit getting used to after so much DriveClub :D

There's a lot of games out at the moment. I still check the thread to see what people are up to, though.

If people thought DC was hard, they need to play Dirt Rally...

I thought was finally getting the hang of it in the 60's championship, so I decided to try the 70's with the Stratos. I give it any gas at all and I'm in the wall or shooting off the cliff. Maybe I'll try the Escort instead.

Back to DC, I agree that Evo closing really put a damper on it. I still need to get all initial bikes to 15 for my last trophy, but it's a bit mind numbing. What did you guys do to get it?

I took advantage of a double XP weekend on bikes! But yeah it's a killer grinding them up, I believe the 2nd Skill Challenge in Chille was were I spent most of my time.

I've tested all the 70s cars and imo Abarth is the best car from this class. But on the other hand it's the one with the least horsepower so you have to push to be competetive. :)

Guys I have a problem with the season pass.
Finally bought it today since it was on sale on EU PSN.
I bought it from my macbook and clicked download on my ps4 but there was an endless loop so I closed the window.

I started my ps4 but the download is nowhere to be found, when I launch driveclub I don't have access to season pass content and when I go to the store it says I bought it, I got the usual confirmation emails too..

What should I do?

Just buying the pass does not automatically unlock DLC. You have to "buy" the DLC too, one by one to unlock the content. You can do this via the ingame store or by just clicking on locked content to get to the appropriate store page. Season Pass included DLC should be free to buy for you.

I think the season pass only unlocks the DLC in the store. You have to get all of them one by one from there, which requires some work as there are many of them.

Oh that makes sense! Thanks! I'll take care of that tomorrow.

Also, can anyone confirm that the no limits expansion with the japanese cars is not part of the season pass?

There are a couple of Japanese cars in the season pass as well, but the No Limits Expansion with the Honda Civic and Nissan Skyline isn't part of the season pass. The following 4 Expansions/Tours (including the 2 bike tours) have been released long after the season pass has expired:

- No Limits Expansion Pack
- Finish Line Expansion Pack
- Suzuki Expansion Pack (DC Bikes)
- MV Agusta Expansion Pack (DC Bikes)

Then there's DC Bikes, which is a standalone expansion and can be upgraded to at a lower price, if you already have the main game. It also got a free tour (EBR Tour) and a purchasable livery pack.

Everything else was either free (like the Ignition, Photo-Finish, All Stars, and AMG Expansion Packs and more than a dozen additional cars) or part of the season pass.

Also, there are a few cars and a bike that will remain purchasable, despite owning the season pass. These are just shortcuts and you can unlock all of them by playing the game, so don't waste your money. These vehicles are:

- Ferrari LaFerrari
- Renault R.S. 01
- Mercedes-AMG S65 Coupe
- Mercedes-AMG GT3
- KTM 1290 R ABS (free bike for everyone, not just DC Bikes owners)

The Aprilia RSV4 RF ABS Bike is also free and works even if you don't own DC Bikes, so grab that as well.

I think that covers everything.

I'm going to be doing a real track day all weekend, so I don't think I'll get any more chances at the challenge.

It's my first one in a car so I can't freakin wait / nervous as hell.

For my 40th last year, a group of guys pitched in and gave me something like $1100 in vouchers with a company called Adrenaline here in Oz. I'm tossing up doing some track days and this is what I'm looking at

I think it'll be a lot of fun.

This is possibly the most in depth PSVR impression I've seen on the net so far.

Glad you did it but is there a tl;dr version we could skim through?

Lol :) There was a guy on Eurogamer saying Rigs made him feel sick, I hope they're going to do demo's for the games so you know if it's gonna make you barf before you buy!

That buggy thing looks awesome, better than riding that pig eh! ;-)

Gawd, you want blood eh? ;)...

Headset is really light and comfortable, screen clarity is pretty good. Immersion is just out there, had a few moments where I felt myself reacting to the game play physically by moving out the way in my chair!

It's fairly easy to get the sweet spot to get a good, clear image. I wear glasses and had no problem with the psvr pressing on them either by my eyes or ears, so for me it'd be good for wearing a good while I'd expect. I'll be buying one of those wig display heads to mount my unit on just so it's not going to be somewhere it shouldn't be and at risk of getting damaged.

The opening in Rigs where your team boss is running through the controls, then watching as your mech coming up through the floor followed by your team mates walking right up to you then goading you on before being lifted into your mech suit was a open mouthed moment for me.

Lots of places let you keep a vid from a go pro. If I get one I'll post it here so you can all have a laugh on me. :)

Awesome. I think that's what we underestimate about the tech. Its not about graphics or sound but immersion. (Which of course you need those things to achieve, but its the sum of those parts plus the display tech that "puts you there").

The first time I flinch at an incoming missile I'll be giggling like a little school kid.

My club members seem to have quit this game, before I even got a chance to harvest their skills to get my two challenge trophies. :)

Would anyone be interested in quickly firing off 5 poor times for my challenges so I can finally get those trophies? Or is does anyone have room for a decently skilled guy on their roster of all active members?

Send me your challenges bud and I'll post some crap times :)

I've sent out the challenges for this weeks competition but I've got to go to site now so probably won't get on to update the league table till tonight.

Staying out of the main thread for that tweet 'cause I can only see hostility.

Part of me doesn't think this is an indie studio announcement, it feels way too fast. I think it's something to do with a game that already exists.

I.e. it's something about Driveclub or something to do with the Evo team being directly moved on to another game (GT Sport, for example).

OR (head in the clouds), Evolution Studios was only shut down to make way for a new Studio Liverpool.

Landmark deal sees ex-Sony team join Codies to form "UK racing powerhouse"

At the end of March, just two weeks after Microsoft shut down Lionhead, the UK development scene was struck another blow. Sony was closing the doors of Evolution Studios: the studio behind WRC, Motorstorm and DriveClub. Fifteen years of top calibre racing pedigree was to disperse, and although Sony expressed regret that many of the talented staff from the Liverpool outfit wouldn't be taking up its offer of relocation, there was nothing to be done.

Except, this time, there was. Today, Codemasters has stepped in with an unprecedented deal to keep the team together and working on new projects, bringing Evolution Studios as a whole into the fold and making it a part of the Codemasters family. Most of the staff, including co-founder Mick Hocking, will be joining Codemasters as a separate team, working together from the same offices to produce brand new IP for the British racing specialist. Previous IP remains in the hands of Sony, but Hocking and his team will, essentially, continue Evolution Studios' work under new ownership.

So, there's gonna be another legitimate Evo game, great! If Sony actually support Driveclub, we'll be all good.

Awesome news for Rushy, Evo and Codemasters.

Really really happy to hear it.

Now go sit in the naughty corner Sony, you've been a bad bad boy.

Amazing news! I'm very happy for the good folks at Evolution, congratulations!
The only downside to this is that it's going to take ages before we get to play a new game of theirs. :)
