Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

Can't see shit but this is glorious. The immersion you get in cockpit view is simply insane.

I really think Evolution made a mistake releasing this after the fact. They should have just delayed the game until this was ready. It's clearly the most advanced weather system ever produced in a game and it would have been a genuine "killer feature". I have no doubt the reviews would have been better (purely based on the wow factor alone) and made the game worthwhile for more people. As of now a lot of potential players won't ever even see this, reviews won't change and the game most likely will only be enhanced in the eyes of hardcore fans who already own it.

The fact that it also meant it didn't get implemented into the main tour mode is really unfortunate also.

I think now that the online aspect has been largely sorted out, the weather's been patched in and the game can now be found quite easily for under £30, it's time for me to get this game.

Games. Artistic vision and stuff.

I for one can't wait to wreck myself and use those opportunities as a track learning mechanisms.

Well, fair enough, it's just not something I like. It does look incredible and on a technical level I've never seen anything so impressive, but I really couldn't enjoy driving in those conditions with that 'artistic vision'.

I don't think watching driving on TV would be fun if the camera man didn't use a visor to stop the weather effecting the viewers pleasure. I can understand it in cockpit view but not in third person view.

Yes that's true for tv but in a competitive online game allowing 3rd person views to avoid the weather just handicaps those of us who like cockpit views.

If Sony are smart they should re-release this, all the additional content and all the problems sorted.

Call it Driveclub Complete Edition, whatever.

Watching a race at night under a thunderstorm and then lightning illuminating the road you could barely see...

Urge to buy seriously rising.

Have you guys noticed how the water come rushing down the windshield when you brake?

THIS GAME IS AMAZING.
Hah, I've just noticed on the stream how droplets move when you make a sharp curve.

I get you. Still, the game is fun without all those weather effects.

I've even read there are online leaderboards for dry and wet races separately, so that is great and awesome for people wanting to be challanged by others and by beating their own times.

I'm sure Lewis Hamilton doesn't enjoy racing in the rain either...

You only have to look at the Japanese grand prix this year to see how much visibility can be impacted in the wet. If you are wizzing around at 200kmh + in real life in the wet you will get some genuuine "can't see shit" moments.

Its situations like this that separates the drivers who know the track and their car from the ones that don't.

Racing in the rain is not noob friendly and shouldn't ever be really.

I'm a bit disappointed in how little difference there is in how the actual roads look/how the rain behaves vs. snow in relation to the roads. I kind of thought that the snow would accumulate on the roads even if just a little bit, but at least in the Norway tracks the snow didn't really do anything different to the roads than rain (they just got wet and puddles started forming).

Does the weather affect the frame rate?

I haven't noticed anything at all. Not a single frame dropped, so far as I can tell.

I'm watching streams of this ... What clown thought it was a good idea to make it a blurry, rain speckled mess when driving in 1st person? I hope you can turn that off because I can't even bare watching streams with it on.

Looks better in person. But yes you can turn it off.

Seriously, do you live in a place where it's always sunny and it never rains? Congrats to you then but this is exactly how driving in a storm or snow looks like. It's dangerous and I'm glad I can try it in a video game without putting my life to risk. I've done so in real life out of necessity so it's a nice change. It is also more challenging now and it's a game for people who like challenges. Weather adds a lot of depth and thus it was a feature many of us were waiting for.

Yup.

Plus how is driving up a 45 degree angle and 10 feet behind your car in any way realistic to begin with...

Unnamed heroes of all the racing games.
Pro and steady AF.
Invisible and no-collision enabled.

Hoorah! Can't wait to try this out when it hits PS+ and then hopefully be able to afford the full game later on.

Well would you look at that. Good to hear and GG GribbleGrunger! hh

Strangely, one of the most disorienting things about this patch is that none of the crowd have umbrellas. It's weird to say that, but even PGR4 crowds had them:

Why has weather not been implemented in the main events? Thats a bit bullshit isnt it.
Because you wouldn't hit any of the goals as they're all established with dry weather grip in mind?

I have tried dynamic precipitation on the new Canada track on fastest time compression and... well, I cant believe it's a game. I've never seen something this beautiful and photorealistic.

I'm totally speechless.

BS that the events are static conditions? Why make them harder? They are already hard enough with rubberband AI. You can still single event any of the main tour events, with weather.

Events are fixed... events. They are always the same. If it's such BS, pray do tell how they could ever add raining into them without completely fucking up a lot of things.

I see at least four people there with umbrellas.

edit: That's PGR4 isn't it ... Doh.

They will probably add some events with weather in this or next months update.

Are the weather effects implemented in online races now as well?

Just sent everyone a challenge..

It's on the new Canada Track, heavy precipitation in the X Bow!

I struggled to do a lap without spinning so the time is easily beatable ;)

Anyone not added me yet it's GgT-Wolves-FC

Looks amazing. There is one wish i still have for this game. And that will make it the racing king for me personally for some time to come: a bit better anti aliassing.

The photomode shows exactly how gorgeous the game is. In gameplay the shimmering still is a bit distracting.

Lol.. i'm allready disoriented while playing at night. The rain and snow will make me even worse at this game :p. But i will try it all out tonight.

Maybe because it would mess up the tables? now the patch is out there is nothing to stop them putting in events with those included as all versions should have the patch.

And your eyesight is shocking to mistake that for a DC shot!

I was just looking at the crowds and not really taking in the game. Obviously I noticed; otherwise I wouldn't have edited. :)

Since I set my tv to sharpness ''0'' I hardy notice any shimmering or aliasing anymore...
