DS...Best System Since SNES?

After all this news today I am fairly confident it is. Hell, it might even surpass SNES. Anyone else feel the system looks just THAT good with the lineup coming out?

Saying that the DS is the best system since the SNES would indicate that it is better than the PS1, PS2, N64, GBA, DC, etc and well... it just isn't. Sorry.

Maybe. I haven't liked a system like this since the Dreamcast, which speaks volumes knowing I loved the DC.

Obviously there were lots of good games announced, but FF3 isn't even a SNES port. It's a remake of a NES game with new 3D graphics and it was never even released in English before.

Excuse us for getting excited.

I don't get how people can downplay the PS2. It hosts nearly every major new release from just about every third party on the planet, get lots of ports and updates of older games AND plays the entire library of god knows how many PS1 games.

*big ass list*

Yeah just saw the Famitsu thread. I don't think that list is too hot at all. Only a couple games worthy of praise in that list. However the list does show the DS is smacking the PSP around in Japan.

Still has a long ways to go to reach SNES level gaming. And even longer to reach PS2.

Not to give you assinine comment any validity but yeah the DS really is kicking ass with a stellar lineup. Nintendo is really firing on all cylinders with that little bad boy. I just wonder if the GC has suffered because of it and what that means for Rev cause they only have the capacity to make so many games as a company. Still all the 1st party games, new yet familiar content, and great 3rd party support can't help but make me feel better about Nintendo. Even WiFi sounds pretty good and the only thing that makes it sound better is if Virtual Console is compatible with it so I can play classics like Dr Mario and the like online.

It's improving, but don't get carried away.

Nintendogs was the killer-app, but it's still lacking a console-defining game. That might come with one of the wi-fi titles though.

DS may not be the...best system since..."SNES" as you say it (I personally think SNES is the most OVERRATED system), but it does have the best first year line up of any game system I've seen.

It's like the PS2, but in reverse.

Best system since SNES? Come on...

I will say that it is looking to be the best portable system ever sending Sony and their PSP back to the drawing board.

Nintendo likes it's handheld market... it's like Sony awakened a sleeping giant. :O

If/when Sony manages to overtake it in sales, people are going to be madder than when the Dreamcast died.

The DS is Nintendo's Dreamcast. heh.

The games are awesome.

However, the control interface can't touch the SNES. Try playing a fighting games with that D-pad and you'll know what I mean. If they ever do a redesign and it is a lot more confortable, then we can talk.

DS is a lot like the PS2 to me. It may have good games, but I can't get past the hardware (mainly the controller with the PS2... worst controller ever!).

I'll wait for the DS:SP before I start playing DS games.

o_O;;

I'm really puzzled by all the love the DS gets on this forum... I must be missing something, or is all that love just based on Japanese releases and future titles? I got a DS a month or so ago and got a few games with it (Mario, Feel The Magic, and WarioWare Touched), I didn't buy those games, I was forced to accept them with the trade deal I did with a friend, and I swear the system has been doing nothing but collecting dust since I got it, I already played Mario on N64 and didn't feel the urge to replay it with the butchered controls, and I played some FtM and Touched but their charm didn't last long at all (Touched was such a letdown, since I'm a huge fan of the other WarioWare games on GBA & was thinking this one will be the DS killer app for me, it blows IMO)... Kirby sounded very good, but I was broke and now that Castlevania is out, Kirby is out of the picture... So yeah, Castlevania rocks and hopefully I'll get it soon, but that's not enough to make me fall in love with the DS just yet...
