I thought this was a viewing or something. This is kinda dumb. I'm super hyped for the movie, but I'm not going into NYC for this. I'll catch the trailer later

I like the novel and team behind the camera but most of the actors really don't interest me especially Timothee Chalamet as Paul.

Paul is supposed to be 13 when he goes to Arakkis. He can pass for a 13 year old.
Yeah but the girl actress is always one note in everything she does. Disaffected youth.

Getting real tired of her one note portrayal. zendaya more like boredaya

Also cultural appropriation, getting a half black person to play whats clearly supposed to be arabs.

That's in the OP. Why did you just post the same thing 4 times?

Yes, because we need to fetishize the moment, milk it... Prolong it as much as possible.
It's all about fetishizing. In order to do that, we need to see how Hans Zimmer reacted, or how DNEG reacted, and whatnot.

The plan was to start filming part 2 right after this originally came out in theaters. But now with the pandemic who knows. It all depends how this does I guess. But Godzilla vs Kong did well enough to continue the Monsterverse.
If they only give me half of Dune, I will destroy them like the Harkonnens.

I'm really looking forward to this, but a cinema invite to a preview of the trailer? Wtf?
Don't you people have better sh*t to do?

It's not just the trailer, it's also the first 10 minutes.

It's similar to what New Line did with LOTR in 2001. They made a 26 min reel for Cannes (which basically was the entire Moria sequence up until the Balrog + unfinished footage from TTT and ROTK). They took that on tour in October 2001 before the movie came out.

Lynch's Dune isn't Dune.

True, it's half weird Lynch-ian imagery and half Dune.

But to be honest, that's way more interesting than just a flat adaptation. For instance, I found the "faithful" SciFi channel miniseries of Dune to be nauseatingly dull.

(Yes, I've read the first Dune book. No, it wasn't my favorite novel.)

I am mostly interested in how they depict Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and emperor's Sardaukars.

Hopefully better then what Sardaukars looked like in the miniseries. Like straight from a 90's fashion show. :messenger_grinning_smiling: In Lynch version they vere just guys with a welding mask.

The McFarlane toys are out in certain places and they give a good look at the Baron:

It's going to be great. It's also not going to make enough money to warrant anymore and that makes me sad. I love that book.

You never know. Wonder Woman 84 somehow had a 3rd movie greenlighted without a box office.
Maybe it depends on contracts behind the scenes.

Not feeling the costume but its Stellard Skarsgår so he will easily elevate the role. Its a toy but the look is not menacing enough for my taste.

So Jason Momoa guaranteed for himself role in every movie if they ever decide to continue making them, nice. Also the most important character in the series.

He doesn't exactly look menacing in the book either. Isn't he covered in rainbow coloured jewelery? And too fat to walk.

It's not like it's based on one of the most-read sci-fi books ever written or anything.
Yeah because quite obviously books are exactly the same as movies, it's not as if cinematography, visual style, characterization and camerawork have a huge impact on how the story is presented :messenger_unamused:

Not really spoiler if you know what will happen in next 8 movies :D
I've read the books, I'm not worried about story spoilers. First time viewing always leaves a deeper impression, so there's really no point ruining your immersion because you're just too impatient.

The original movie is on Youtube if anyone wants to watch.

I wonder how different it will be from the original movie or the book itself. Looking forward to watching it regardless

I'd imagine it's just the Gom Jabbar test in its entirety if it's the first 10 minutes.

Hoping, perhaps naively, that we will see a little more of what Skarsgard is doing as Harkonnen. Perhaps a scene fragment of his introduction.

Anyway, got my tickets. Really looking forward to it.

I'm just not feeling it. Like, at all. I love Dune, I like Denis, but everything looks kinda off.
I'll 100% catch it on a movie theater tho (if im allowed to).
