Has anyone else run into a bug with the minimap, where if you load a save, the "plundered" icons (a dot) all revert back to the "treasure" icon (a circle). (Hitting right-analog button to bring up the full map fixes it.)
Great. Quick post launch support is paramount and I know you know that.
I'd suggest being a tad more technical on the bug(s). Like saying (Small amount of users affected to to performance link) or something.
Straight up 'Chests be broke' sounds bad.
That's all! Up to you!
I also just read the Gamasutra postmortem and, wow, the third page was painful to read.![]()
@Noogy
Now that the game has been out for a little while at steam.
How has the "steam experience" been for you so far?
Are their any major differences between the first week on XBLA and steam, that you can talk about?
Can you talk about updates and how the community has been for you on the pc side in comparison to the XBLA community?
Oh god Bandage Girl was a pain in the ass to get.
One of those "Am I really doing this the way it was suppose to be done?" It worked regardless.
Reposting, as I mistakenly posted this on the original 360 OT:
Even though it's more than I paid for any game this year and I won't have time to play this yet, I said "screw it" and just bought it. After all, I've been waiting for this game for a long time. I just checked my sent folder for an email I sent to somebody about being excited for this game... back in 2009.This is, after all, a mix of three of my favorite styles of games, VanillaWare-like amazing 2D animation, Platinum Games-like action, and Metroidvania traversal.
Thanks for making this, Noogy. It's really awesome to have you here on NeoGAF.
I also just read the Gamasutra postmortem and, wow, the third page was painful to read.It must have been really hard going through all that. Between that and George Kamitani's recent interview detailing his woes (living with 300 yen a day, asking for personal loans and partially hallucinating from the stress), it makes me sympathize a lot with you both, but also happy that both of you were able to put through and keep alive the tradition of exquisitely beautiful 2D games.
Bandage girl was the second friend I found. I found her completely on accident.
Uh how did you get to her?I had to use the air dust attack to "fly" up there
Anyway, I'm still blown away by how receptive the PC audience has been to Dust:AET.
Not gonna lie, that's what drew my attention to Dust in the first place. (Well, that and seeing who won the Dream.Build.Play competition all those years ago...)Hey now, we Jazz 2 players were your fans before the rest of these johnny-come-latelies.![]()
Are there any technical advantages on the PC version? I have the 360 version, and was gonna start on it, but I'm wondering if I should just get it on the PC. It looks good enough (1080p/60fps?) on the 360, that it's probably not a noticeable difference.

Probably 720p 30 fps on the console version.
pffft. 60 FPS rock solid on 360. Amazing job, Noogy!
The PC version has a 'slightly sexier particle and post-processing engine' according to Noogy.
Funny, I thought they restocked absurdly frequently.Any way to get the shop to restock faster?
I'm trying to get those soldier tags.
Funny, I thought they restocked absurdly frequently.
Admittedly, that's because I'm only up to Chapter 2 and don't have too much use for the shops as of yet, such that I'd have totally destocked them of a given item and actually care about the restock message...

I just bought that game out of absolutely nowhere on Steam. I was in the Alan Wake 90% off topic then connected to Steam in order to purchase it but then the Steam's what's new pop up appeared and I decided to look at the current deal and spotted that game. Clicked on details, looked at the video, checked the pictures and decided to purchase it even though I barely knew anything about it. Looked mesmerizing if anything.
Wow, what a fantastic and incredibly charming game so far. My jaw dropped.
Thank you for answering my questions!Sadly I'm not allowed to share numbers on either Steam or XBLA. XBLA did really well, nothing mind-blowing, but for my first game I can't complain. What I really like about Steam (aside from the ease of patching) is the community hub. I never realized how gratifying it would be to see people taking screenshots, and adding their own captions.
This was another one of those 'if only I had more time' things, since I wasn't able to build and maintain a centralized community area for the XBLA version. Having a forum for fans, and to offer support and receive feedback, those are lessons I've learned for whenever I start talking about my next game.
Anyway, I'm still blown away by how receptive the PC audience has been to Dust:AET.
Just finished this game. This was easily one of the most entertaining, gorgeous, and thoughtful games I've played this decade. I felt like I got to know Noogy on a deeply personal level; I could see his thought process through his level, character design, art, and design choices, his playful little traps and secrets, and nods to all of the things I think played an important influence to him as he developed as a husband, artist, and programmer.
This is a special game, and I think everyone should cast aside any doubts they have and really try to experience it. I'll be gifting out copies of this to people I care about, because I feel they should share the same journey I did.
Thank you for such a wonderful game, Noogy! I can't wait to see what marvelous thing you come up with next!
Hey guys I need help...how do you get that key? I've been trying for a while now and I just can't go high enough...
The key is at the top of the shot... That's just west of Mud Pot...
You'll get an ability later to help you get it.
Does the game get any harder? Playing on Tough, and defeated Fuse with ease. Maybe I should play on Hardcore instead
