So if I get this right your mom is Dutch but not living in NL? In that case you should be a Dutchman/woman, according to http://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/nederlandse-nationaliteit/nederlander-wordenHey Dutch GAF! Respectful question in English, as my spoken Dutch is limited.
Am I one of you? Post '85 born to Dutch Citizen, expat mother. My mother recently naturalized US with her spouse but I was an adult at the time and she retains dual.
Would just like an idea before I approach consulate for passport. Thanks.
If you're born in or after 1985 and your mom is Dutch, then you're Dutch, no matter where you are born.Bent u in of na 1985 geboren en is uw moeder Nederlands, dan bent u Nederlander. Het maakt dan niet uit of u in of buiten Nederland geboren bent.
So hey, welcome to the party!
In case I read your post wrong, if your Dad is Dutch and was married to your Mom at the time of your birth you're 100% certified Dutch, if they weren't married (yet) you need to be officially acknowledged by your Dad as being his child. That's a bit more paperwork, but shouldn't slow you down too much on your way to Dutchood.
