(I have these albums--Here and Now is just okay, but Live on the Sunset Strip is genius.)

Also two-disc double-dips of I, Robot, The Day After Tomorrow, and Man on Fire, and separate releases of Godfather II and III (previously only available in a box).

Too much television this week. Among about a zillion releases are:

Geez did they release these 3 JUST to push Fantastic Four? Are these types of tickets good on opening nights/weekends?

I wonder if Wal-Mart will have Chappelle at midnight? I don't want to have to go through what I went through last year in getting the DVD set.

I've been positively jonsing for this flick on DVD. God, I love Bunuel. Once more, the Criterion Collection brings the flavor. Now if they'd just hurry the hell up with the remastered release of Playtime...

Also of interest:

I haven't seen this recent Miss Marple miniseries, but it's hard to go wrong with a BBC mystery mini-series, especially when they take Christie and throw a significant budget at it.

B00097DXG2.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

For all you silent film buffs out there.

B000929UQY.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

I'd never heard of L'Argent until a few moments ago, but this looks to be terrific.

This is apparently the first two episodes of a six-episode miniseries Takahashi Miike released in 2000 about a detective with multiple personality disorder and the weird shit that happens to him. Lots of Twin Peaks comparisons are thrown around. Hopefully the next two volumes are released eventually in the US.

Meanwhile, a quick question. I've been putting off buying the Godfather DVD box set and am now pleased to see that both the first and second films are available as stand alone discs. Is there an overwhelming reason to go with the box set? I figure I can pick up Godfather III later if I have an overwhelming desire to do so.

Finally, I really wish I could find a cover picture for Milton Berle's Work Out. That has to be a tool of sanity destruction of the highest order.

If I remember correctly, the Godfather single-disc edition has ever-so-slightly improved video.

However, the bonus disc in the Godfather box has deleted scenes. At some point in the history of the films, the first two movies were edited together into one long work for television called The Godfather: The Complete Epic (or Saga, or something), and that version has more footage than the two films as seen separately. (The television edit is rearranged in chronological order, so that the DeNiro storyline from II comes before the primary action in I, e.g.) The bonus disc in the box has the balance of the footage from The Complete Epic that isn't in the theatrical releases.

Interesting. Hrm. I can get the first two Godfather flicks for about $30; for an extra $20 I can get the whole box set. I'll probably pick up the box at a later date, then. Thanks for the info!

This is all that matters.

And while I won't be buying Airwolf, it sure brings back memories. Wonder if Street Hawk will be hitting DVD soon.

It's a new release with anamorphic video.

WTF...so this was a new version? I saw it on the new releases shelf last week at Future Shop next to Son of the Mask, but figured it was the same version that came out last year.

Some of the extras are the same, but it's an anamorphic transfer and the extras are anamorphic as well. So it's worth upgrading from the 1997 release.

Hmmm if I can find MPD Psycho I'll pick it up. The manga is pretty outstanding, plus it's done by Miike. We'll see :p

Picked up Chappelle and 'Fade To Black' at Wal-Mart this morning while on my way to work. There were only 4 left on the shelf. Not sure if there were more in the back or what. I asked the cashier about it, she said she wasn't sure, but there were about 20 people there at midnight to get their copy, :D . BTW, I got it for 24 bucks at Wal-Mart.

Out of curiousity, I looked for the 'Are we there yet?', UMD. It was nowhere to be found. If it was priced about 12-15 bucks, I was going to take a chance on it as I never saw the movie. I'll try Best Buy afterwork.

I went to 3 different stores this afternoon and Chappelle Season 2 was already sold out at 2 of them, the cheaper options too. The only one that had it was Spec's Music at $34.99 so I wept and passed on it. I should've gone early this morning to buy it.

Gonna give it another look tomorrow at Walmart or CompUSA.

as of about 3pm this afternoon, my local BB was sold out of all but 3 copies of Chapelle S2, and you could tell they had about 3 shef spaces dedicated to it. And this is a store where almost NO dvds sell out, especially not on day one. Impressive. Also there was only one copy of Batman TAS volume 3 left, though i don't know if its selling well or they just didnt' get very many in.

I picked up my Chappelle at 10Am when Best Buy opened, they had probably around 60-120 some copies. I went back there at around 5pm to get Aviator and Chappelle was sold out.

I am happy! Now i have my gay version of America on DVD to watch everyday.

ASSMILK!

Sweet baby Jesus.

Maybe not the cover, but it'll do.

Yes, I believe it will. If I want surrealism, I don't have to shell out the big bucks for Criterion releases of Bunuel...I can just get geriatric comedy workout videos for cheap instead.

I just bought the Airwolf Season 1 set and on the back, it has a bunch of pictures of those morons who took over in the later seasons. Is this some kind of printing error? Why would they include pictures of people that aren't in the show until seasons later? Do they really think that the Airwolf fans buying this set want to see those idiots?

thats a good question. Lets call the other 2 Airwolf fans and find out.

:lol :lol

Come on man, it WAS a popular show back in the 80's, I know there has to be AT LEAST 5-10 Airwolf fans still lurking around somewhere. :D

I used to love airwolf when I was a kid. I dunno if I'd go as far as buying this set though.

I might buy it this week if it's on sale. Out of all the shows from the '80s that featured overteched vehicles, Airwolf was second only to Knight Rider (and it kicked hell out of Blue Thunder and Street Hawk).

STREET HAWK!

I went to BB on my lunch break Tuesday, and there were tons of them at the San Francisco store. The guy was re-stocking the shelves cause "a gang load of people" (his words, not mine) came in and bought copies at 10AM.

Was able to grab a copy of Chappelle's second season--and damn if there wasn't any interest in it in my area. At 4 PM I got the second copy sold. :p

There were a great many copies at Best Buy here earlier in the week, but I imagine you've tried them already so I've gotta suggest:

I dunno.
