Dying Light IOTI A dead island on the mirror's edge.

Just played co op, and got invaded, for the first time. Both were totally hilarious in a good way. I'm only 25 percent in, but I think this may be my favorite game of the next gen. This game takes a lot of things from other games, but still feels fresh. What an awesome surprise of a game this is.

It was great the first few times, but became tedious very quickly. The Potions that you can craft with the ingredients you get from winning is extremely valuable, though.

I don't understand the need of Dupe glitch. I always have at least 3 or 4 superior weapons waiting in queue before my current breaks.

Yeah, at the 50 hour mark, I could see the point in duping the absolute best weapons in the game that I have, but there's nothing left for me to do with them.

The availability of high-damage weapons FAR, FAR outpaces the need for them. I don't see the point of duping a bunch of weapons that will just become obsolete within a few hours of gameplay.

Speaking of the soundtrack, I watched the movie "The Guest" not too long ago and ever since then I keep thinking this song would be a great fit for being in rotation as part of the main menu. Seems to fit the soundtrack pretty well.

Hey guys, I have read that there is 4 Players Co-op in Dying Light. Does this mean I can play the hole story campaign together with a friend? Of course we have 2 PS4´s and to copys of the game.

yes, you can. Side missions, Story Missions, random events.
co-op even pops up the opportunity to make a simple "kill that big dude" or "get to that waypoint you just set" into a race to deal the most damage or be the fastest there.

So it's actually offering more "content" than solo play

Thx guys, I think I will pick this up for the weekend!

That's me finished at 26 hours, all skills at level 18. Still need to tie up some sidequests (particularly in the slums), it's about 82% complete.

Techland, you did good here, but FFS don't take away all my core abilities for your 'dramatic' finale. When a game is built around traversal and melee combat, what's the point of restricting my movement abilities and resolving
the final duel through QTE
? I can two-shot a Demolisher but I can't handle
a one-handed dude in a blazer
?

AAA developers really need to stop 'this resolution by QTE' nonsense. It's infecting nearly every title I've completed recently.

A couple of my experiences:

First one made me laugh out loud: this was the mission where "The Saviors" group has to
escort you to the Old town. When you meet the guy that has to lead you, literally all he does is slowly walk through empty straight tunnel for like 20 meters and then tells you: "You're on your own now". Escort my ass :D There must be something cut from this part of the game because it's just hilarious.

The second one is more depressing and emotional: the "New Antalya Apartments" quarantine zone. It's not hard, but very atmospheric, especially when this piece of music is playing in the background. Loved it.

It's even sillier than that when you consider that they're
working with Rais to kill you - what, they couldn't just smack you in the back of the head when you're walking across the first sewer room, you have to run a gauntlet of zombies and gunmen? In fact, this trope plays throughout the game... Rais can never just shoot you in the face, there's elaborate setup upon setup upon setup. I know it's a gaming staple but surely there's an alternative?

I really like the quarantine zones in general... they're very well designed and have some of the scariest moments in the game.

night opponents are not that strong past level 14 or so with a crafted and modified weapon
You can destroy them

I still can't take one in a "fair fight," but I managed to accidentally trap a volatile last night as it tried to chase me by hopping through this enclosed area and then dawn hit. It began to exhibit some odd statuesque behavior.

Played around with it (sorry I'm putzing around a bit at the beginning, I actually needed to get where it was for a quest and hadn't figured out how yet when I started recording), and finally found my preferred one-two combo (flammable liquid, burning shuriken) works just fine on them in this state at least. I find the way he insta-crumples to the ground pretty hilarious.

edit: also learned that burning throwing stars alone will not set them on fire.

Oh, one question. During the
school
mission I found a locker with a guitar and a book. I could pick up the book and I get a notification like its some kind of mission objective. Anyone know what mission its for?

How do side quests open up? Is it like a hub like at certain safe zones or do they open each time you complete a Story mission?

See the lil exclamation points on your minimap? They can all be sidequests (though some are just conversations). There's also a bulletin board in the tower with some stuff.

As you complete story more and more open up at various locations and boards. Look at the map for exclamation marks.

Use volatile fluid then try throwing a star.

I want this game, but I don't have $60 right now. This might sound like a silly question, but does anyone know of any deals going on with it?

Finished it this morning. Game says I played for 18.5 hours, but I dunno. I think I played more.

Anyways, it's a 7/10. A good game, but not a great one.

Pros:

Parkour is cool
Visceral combat
New take on zombie games
Looks nice
Lots of weapons
Like Dead Island in some ways
Lots to do
Detailed
Fun

Cons:

Cheap deaths
Exploding one hit kill zombies
Dying takes away XP
Can't climb downwards well, fall a lot
Gets repetitive
Bland storyline and main character
NO FAST TRAVEL

nice list, but the map is already very small, moreover in this game you 'travel' fast all the time ;) luckily, it's not like Far Cry 2

Fast travel would make it so you barely level up your agilty skill tree. Fast travel I think has the potential to ruin the game. Plus I've always felt it takes less time to get from one point to another then I expected it to.

Good point, but it could've really used fast travel imo. Not for all the time but occasionally.

Yeah in this particular game i think fast travel would cheapen the experience, you can get around so quickly with ease. I think if your really enjoying the game you wont even need it, 30+ hours here with around 58% story complete, taking my time with this one.

Yeah, I've played 15 hours so far and every location on the map looks like it's only a stone's throw away - like driving across New Zealand.

I agree with this. I was also thinking it would be nice to have fast travel, but then I find that I get to places that SEEM far away a lot quicker than I expected to. I think it's a perception thing. You see a dot that is really far away on your map and "420 meters" or whatever, and it looks like a real chore to get there. But then you start running and you are there much faster than you expected to be.

I see what you did there.

But yeah, I've also noticed a few grammatical errors in the game too. Not a big deal, especially when the game is as good as it is. (And considering that English isn't the Dev team's first language)

Chewie, fast travel would destroy this game. Traversal is a key part of how you level up and experience the map.

For example, running from the bridge to Rais' compound, I came across 2 q-zones, an easter eggish scene on the highway, and a random encounter with a survivor (who opened up a lot of the back story).

Fast travel would mean that I would miss these things - or, worse - they'd all be clustered around an already busy main base.

Is there a way to get back Rais' Gun in the game? I lost it from my Inventory after the museum mission, and I'm mighty pissed :(

God this game just gets better and better. I hit the second map and the free running is just outstanding. Finalizing a review for this now and it is favorable ;)

Game is fantastic. Fun, frantic, great details in the city, out of nowhere outstanding soundtrack. Just caught me off guard, as while I liked the concept of Dead Island, it lacked so much polish, and often was tedious. This is like it's leaner, meaner sibling. Though now I need parkour in everything, because it was done so well here.

One may slap me for this, but it's way better implemented than in every AC game so far - although, I acknowledge the core differences in both game mechanics.

I just bought the game after hearing people recommend it here, and the game has already crashed to desktop twice and i'm not even past the freerunning tutorial next building.

Is this the sort of thing i can expect every 10 minutes?

I've not had a single problem in my 15 hours so far.

What's your set up?

Been a longtime seeing a game with amazing first person parkour and that was Mirror's Edge to begin with a lot tried but failed Techland went above and beyond with it.
