As other people have said, it can make a difference.Curious: Would having a developer use Hyperthreading ie: i7's 8 threads, keep processors like the 2600k viable later on in this generation ?
As other people have said, it can make a difference.
However, I'd like to add that it's not so much "using hyperthreading" -- I doubt any game has code specifically to use hyperthreading -- as it simply is "having good parallel scaling". If a game scales well to more than 4 HW threads it will probably benefit from hyperthreading.
Previously posted requirements were placeholders, these are the new requirements.
Much more reasonable now.
errrr look at the update?
When do the next batch of CPUs hit the market? 2500k is finally losing steam. ::sadface::

It's ok, we'll still have GTA 5's pc specs to freak out about.
Also, if we bitch more about these now, will they arbitrarily lower them again? Can anyone reasonably explain what purpose has uploading "placeholder" requirements that are completely insane and will cause people to freak out ?
Why not upload the correct ones in the first place ?
The difference between the i5 2500 and the i5 4670 really isn't that big, so yea, it does seem a bit strange. I imagine what they're saying is that you should have 4 cores. Perhaps even minimum, that could be understandable in an open-world, next-gen only game like this. Why is the i5 being compared with the Fx when the best Fx isn't even in the same ballpark as the minimum i5?
Should be a i7 920 or some modern i3 in this sys reqs.
Someone must be paying or the people who come up with the reqs are really stupid and out of touch with reality.
