E3 2015: Horizon: Zero Dawn’s Incredible Balance of Action and RPG

Without question the most interesting part of her interaction with the dinosaurs or whatever the fuck they are was when she apologized to the "little one" for killing it, beautiful touch.

What about my post don't you get? Setting wiretaps between rocks, pinning enemies down with rope wire, gunning them down with different explosive tipped arrows, shooting parts off of other dinosaurs and using them as weapons, using emp type weapons to stun enemies, targeting a multitude if weak spots and so on. There seems to be a good range in the way you can hunt and take on the machines.

lol dude
i thought you said there is no much depth in combat.
im tired and read that wrong
sorry

just add mech-dino's

*tear*
I would literally stop playing videogames after an open world Dinotopia game came out that was true to the world....nothing would top that

Watching Aloy set up a series of tripwires across two tall rocks, scaring a group of Grazers into running off, and seeing them set off the bombs and get completely blown apart showcased the neat sandbox elements that Guerrilla promised throughout Horizon.

yooooooooooo

Ideally I would have loved to have a Bloodborne type of co-op where I can just summon someone to defeat some dinos but single player is fine if the game has a lot of content

Looks really good. Hope they take cues from Monster Hunter and Dark Souls gameplay.

Please have awesome gameplay....please have awesome gameplay....please have awesome gameplay....

This game looks right up my alley. I can't tell you how happy I am Guerilla's working on a new IP like this. I honestly couldn't be more happy with how this is shaping up.

Not going to lie, over the past year, the more I hear "open world" the more concerned I become. Hopefully this turns out well :)

This game looked awesome from what I saw. Loved the combat and the main character was great! I'm excited to see more from it. I hope it can live up to its hype completely.

I love how much excitement this game has drummed up even amidst all the major announcements at this year's E3. A lot of new IPs lately have been met with skepticism, sometimes with good reason, but this seems like exactly the right kind of new to get people pumped.

Agreed. This is definitely my most watched title coming out of E3.

Great Idea. Just like Killzone (Nazis in Space). But the execution here seems to be million tines better than Killzone.

But please make Aloy less talky.

I hope we get more Gameplay videos soon.

It really surprised me when I found out they'd been working on this since 2011. I'd assumed it was all hands on deck for ShadowFall. Anyway, this is the most exciting new IP I've seen in a while. Cannot wait.

Started with 20 people. Actually got less during the pre-release of SF.

ok so top section is for arrows, left is utility (the bomb traps mentioned in the demo, the anchor used against mecha trex)
i'm gonna bet at least 1 section is for melee weapons, and hopefully another for traversing equipments (grappling hook thingies perhaps?)

So people died because power vanished

but machines rules the world

so what powers the machines?

I think they run on some sort of precious resource or fuel. The green canisters she's collecting at the beginning of the demo off the small machines contain it. Apparently you can use, trade or sell the resource. In that particular mission, she's collecting it to help another tribe.

so 4 types of ammo? confirmed or at least four different play style

More like 3 types of ammo or functions per weapon, the weaponwheel supports 4 weapons or general skills, each divided in 3 subsections. 3 types of arrowhead for the bow and thusfar two different functions for the ropecaster.

So people died because power vanished

so what powers the machines?

It would seem they feed on organic matter, that's why she is harvesting the green canisters, I'm assuming that's their main power source. It could be the harvesters actually harvest this for all the other types of creatures too, since the Watchers and the big ones seemed to be there to support the herd. That doesn't mean they couldn't also get their power directly from the sun or from other means.

That is the question. I'm hoping the answer is well written.

The whole plot really depends on it, so if the answer is poor, that's it for the game's story :lol. I mean, when I saw the presentation, I didn't even pay much attention to it, because the world and the enemies looked so cool, but the time I stopped to think about, I was like wat. I really wish that the game will give detailed information on how every energy source just "ended", considering that we already know so many alternative ways to produce energy. Judging by the city they showed at the beginning, humanity probably had that knowledge already by the time it all went dark.

edit: @nib95 and Raven Prime: how come humans vanished if all those types of energy sources are suddenly viable? If humanity crumbled because the machines turned against them (which is the most used cliché in the book, aside from zombies), it would be understandable, but stating that the world went dark and humanity died because of it is quite weird.

This is my favourite surprise from E3. Looks incredible and seems so interesting. I want to know more about why and how it is the way it is. Can't wait to finally buy a PS4 and get my hands on this game in 2016.

Just everything about this sounds so good. I need to see or hear more. The worst part about reveals like this is thinking about how far off it is. I want it NOW dammit!

I want to be able to tame, and ride a robo Dino. Make it happen!
The concept art shows someone riding a robo dino and so far it looks like the game looks just like in the concept art, including the arrows with ropes to trip them. Id say based on that the chances of riding them are pretty good.
