EA sucks

If you're still out there codecow can you do me a favour and tell the team to make some crappy games so I can stop supporting EA? Be a sport, I didn't even need to ask the folks over at Bioware, they did it all on their own.

you're asking them to make a sequel to Dante's Inferno?

PC games don't exist to me unless they're on Steam. This includes Battlefield 3.
But not Minecraft.

for upcoming games like Battlefield, you could always drop your EAOrigin.exe into your Steam library for quicker access

it's a matter of 3 or 4 clicks and you're playing Battlefield, so really, who needs Steam?

When it comes to new IPs EA sometimes misses. Perhaps more than they should.

They threw an army of money after Dantes Inferno for example!

Then you had flawed classics like Mirrors Edge, which I think is a game that EA was not at fault at. They gave it attention and made a seriously awesome different playing/looking/sounding game, and they backed it up with good marketing. The first gameplay reveal is still a all time gaming highlight for me.

EA has also had it's troubles online. Warhammer Online was a bust for example...

It's hard to hate EA when at least 3 of my favorite games (Dead Space, Dead Space 2, and Mass Effect 2) come from them. But yeah, they can use a bit more of QA and some improvement towards their online system is necessary (lemme rename or merge my EA accounts, dang it!)

They just jacked up the BF3 price in India by 20% for consoles and 50% for PC. Their reasoning? because its limited edition bundled with DLC.

i also hate when EA shut down some online servers for there slightly older games.

i had fun playing online with my friend on fifa 2008! , I know 2008 is a long time ago but common, i here story's they close down more recent games online.

Are they still asking a $5 premium to preorder TOR?

Because if they do, it's up there in terms of inventing shitty business practices. Which is essentially what "innovation" means for EA/Bioware right now.

I agree fully with the OP. I'm a grown up though and i don't fall for their bullshit. Supporting EA just means that you effectively kill any game that could be good. They are destroyer of talented devs.

I haven't played a Madden since '03 or '04. I don't miss them either because the Launch ps3 Madden, or was it ps2? was the best one ever. I will never sign up for their EA club or whatever they call it.

What cement the deal for me was when i bought Shift 2 and out the box, the game wanted real money for me to buy a car that i hadn't unlocked in the game. What makes me angrier than what they do is the people who are okay with it.

I got them back though. Used games, non online play only.

Origin isn't a Steam competitor, it's an attempt by EA to create a walled garden for their own content only

this bothers me more then anything. I don't want 12 different independent services to access my games. I'm fine with pursuing their own store and service as an option, but not the forced seperate service
The EA future seems to be this

where I want the option to buy and control all my digital games via the service I choice(STEAM) like this

EA single handedly gave birth to the NFL 2K franchise, so it was fitting that it killed it too. That said, EA's been churning out quality games since Riccitiello took over - and even if their marketing sucks, that's their money, not mine - BF: BC2, Mass Effect, Dragon Age (okay I didn't like the second one of either series, but I'm still convinced that's because BioWare is on a massive decline independent of my opinion of EA), Mirror's Edge, Skate, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise, Dead Space, Rock Band, Crysis, etc. I felt like I got my money's worth out of them, at least.

Certainly the lesser evil in my eyes compared to Activision.

There is no premium. They subtract the preorder $5 from the total when the actual game comes out and they charge you for the whole thing. Just like EB Games when you put down $5. How people are confused about this I will never understand.

I like EA's games, except Sports. 2k fan.

Can't hate on them without being a complete hypocrite, not exactly a fan of the monolith publisher, but they have arms of the company I am a big fan of, so fuck it.

Came into this thread to read random EA bitching.

Left wanting the remote in bloodydrake's post.

On-topic: EA seems no better or worse than the other behemoths.

You get taxed on a digital pre-order?

I think a lot of us here are not properly distinguishing the role between publisher and developers. Developers make the games while publishers bankroll and handle the business /marketing side. If we look at the direct roles of a publisher, outside of bankrolling projects, EA absolutely brings nothing of value to the consumer.
